Hickory Street/Forest Park DREAM Monthly Snapshot July 2014 Program Happenings and Highlights One teen attended Camp DREAM as a camper during the teen session and as a CIT during the 8-12 year old boys’ session. The group held their summer culminating experience at the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center in Burlington. Hickory Street and Forest Park DREAM youth were sad to say goodbye to Summer Community Intern, Samantha, but they are excited to participate in DREAM once mentors are recruited from College of St. Joseph in the fall. Weekly Programming with Children
July was a craft-filled month for the Hickory Street/Forest Park DREAM youth. Their favorite projects included perler bead creations, magnet making, sand art, sun catcher decorating, and making their own crayons. The group spent a day swimming at White’s Pool. Youth particularly enjoyed jumping off the diving boards. The group went to see How to Train Your Dragon 2 in the movie theater, and afterwards stopped for frozen yogurt. Other favorite activities this month included hiking and a trip to the park. For their summer culminating experience, the group traveled all the way to Burlington to visit the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center followed by a special treat of ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s.
