Birchwood DREAM Monthly Snapshot July 2016 Program Happenings and Highlights •

Two groups of teens went on DREAM’s annual Adventure Sailing Excursions off the coast of Maine under the direction of Captain John Reed. The teens learned how to sail and live on a boat while having the time of their lives island hopping, getting to know each other, and enjoying all that the ocean has to offer! Nine teens from across Vermont attended DREAM’s annual College Road Trip. The teens, along with several mentors, Summer AmeriCorps members, and DREAM office staff, spent the week at Vermont Technical College and travelled around the state of Vermont touring colleges. Summer AmeriCorps Members, Stanley Chen, Antonia Nichols, and Natalie White wrapped up their summer of service in Birchwood with a community bar-b-que.

Weekly Programming with Children • Birchwood DREAM did many arts and crafts projects in the community, including finishing their papier-mâché piggy banks, decorating picture frames, and making collages! • The Summer Americorps members took DREAMers to the library many times throughout the month. • Natalie and Antonia took mentees to a Lake Monsters game! • Birchwood DREAMers went to American Flatbread for dinner and a walk on Church Street!
