Franklin Square DREAM Monthly Snapshot May 2017 Program Happenings and Highlights

The DREAM Office led the annual Summer Orientation, where summer staff and AmeriCorps members were participated in trainings on behavior management, fundraising, program planning, and much more! Morgan Beck, a Saint Michael’s College mentor, and Austin Pine will be running programming in Franklin Square this summer. They held an ice cream social for their first event of the summer! Youth and parents were invited out to enjoy ice cream and voice what they would like to do this summer with DREAM. Camp DREAM held two sessions this month and several Franklin Square DREAMers attended!

Weekly Programming with Children • • • •
Morgan and Austin led science experiments such as “Elephant Toothpaste” and Slime making! Franklin Square DREAMers had a Breakfast for Lunch Day where the group made pancakes and played games in the community center. Teens attended a Teen Night! Morgan and Austin ran a nutrition themed week of programming. They brought youth on a tour of the Saint Michael’s College Garden, went berry picking, made nachos in homemade solar ovens, and spent another afternoon baking!
