The Putnam Gardens DREAM Update June 2012 DREAM Summer Programming: Summer Programming: The Summer Community Interns started on June 11th and after a week of orientation began programming the week of June 18th. Turn out has been good and we are excited for a great summer of on-site activities and off-site adventures. Community Collaboration: Workforce Summer Interns: DREAM worked in collaboration with the CHA Workforce program, Youth Works, and the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program to hire two youth from the CHA Workforce program to work with DREAM this summer. We are excited to have local youth working with DREAM in Putnam Gardens. These two recent high school graduates will enable us to work with more children this summer and better promote the Workforce program to the youth in Putnam Gardens. DREAM Office: New Regional Director: Rachel Lieberman, the new Regional Director of the Boston DREAM office, officially started this month. She’s getting settled in and is looking forward to being in touch with you soon. If you would like to contact her you can email her at Rachel@dreamprogram.org. Massachusetts Promise Fellow Hiring: We continued interviewing applicants for the Program Empowerment Fellow position that will start in August. Additional Summer Opportunities: In addition to programming run by the Summer Community Interns, DREAM partners with other organizations to offer additional programming opportunities to youth. This summer we will be inviting two Putnam Gardens youth to participate in City to Saddle, a weeklong horseback riding day camp at Liberty Hill Farm in Lancaster, MA. Additionally mentees in the school year DREAM program ages 13 and older will be invited to attend a Time of Wonder Sailing trip, where youth will travel out of the Boston Harbor for a three night sailing trip on a 60ft sail boat.
