Willowbrook DREAM Quarterly Report June – August 2015 Greetings from DREAM! This quarter, youth were provided with a trusty DREAM staff member to provide fun, enriching activities. The group had an exciting culminating event and an overall very successful summer! Youth look forward to starting back up in the fall with their mentors on campus! Highlights from the quarter include: • Our very own mentor Sarah Shames of Bennington College worked with Willowbrook youth this summer, providing to them enriching activities and opportunities! • Sarah started off the summer with arts, crafts, games, and a burrito bash that the whole community was invited to! • This quarter, the group had their first field trip for a bake sale on campus. They used their impressive business skills to raise $70.00! • This quarter, there were two separate occasions when youth from Hickory Street and Poultney DREAM programs joined Willowbrook for programming. This led to new friends and tons of fun with new faces! • Lots of youth were able to participate in their favorite activity, swimming at the lake and pool! • The summer was wrapped up with a party and event that involved youth who came all the way from Rutland just to meet Willowbrook youth! They played in waterfalls in Manchester, VT! Weekly Programming: • This quarter, Sarah wasted no time getting Willowbrook youth out of the community. After a week of arts, crafts, and games, the group took a trip to Molly Stark Park for a day! • The group spent a Thursday afternoon baking cookies in order to sell them at a bake sale on campus to raise money for more summer fun! • One Friday, youth took a trip to Bennington College campus to sell baked goods that they made themselves! They used business and marketing skills to raise 70 dollars! • The group spent a day doing legos, board games, card games, and crafts! • The group took multiple trips to Molly Stark Park where there is a large playground with multiple activities as well as a stream in the woods where youth can wade in on a hot day!

One trip to the park, youth from Willowbrook welcomed DREAM youth from Rutland and Poultney! They played statue, sardines, and went swimming in the stream after a great picnic! Many youth from Willowbrook were able to swim at Lake Paran on Fridays where there was a slide on a dock that leads right into the water! Youth also enjoyed a day at the community pool for a free swim! After a trip to the lake, Willowbrook had a Halloween-themed party with coloring contests and group games. Sarah wrapped up the summer with a party involving music, decorations, and an announcement of the winner of the summer trash challenge who won a nice paint set.
