Dreamspeed Sessions Vol. 2

Will King came to Dreamspeed Photography for some shots and on camera pointers. He is running for Virginia’s 18th State House District which runs southwest from Sperryville to near Front Royal in the northwest, Warrenton to the east and near Middleburg to the north. It includes parts of the counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Warren, and all of Rappahanccock. I really enjoyed meeting and working with him.

“The beginning of the candidacy was formulated in October 2016. My desire to run was predicated on the “leadership in politics” fallacy. Elected officials are representatives that lead the way in the General Assembly. Many of our politicians now believe it’s the constituents job to work for the representative. Our elections are meant to uphold the integrity and value of the people. I’m not here to send a message, I’m here to restore the integrity of the election process and represent the values of the District.”

“When I went through my first of two police academies, we were taught the importance of command presence. Your ability to look sharp, act sharp, be sharp begun with how crisp and clean the uniform. Your presence was the first introduction between an office and the citizen. I still uphold the values of a Law Enforcement Officer but I’m now a candidate. My command presence must adapt to my future position. I must maintain a professional presence yet relaxed and confident. Approachable to every constituent with the ability to walk into a meeting at any given moment. This photograph captures the sprite of: ‘at the ready.’”

“Too often we rush to judgement and formulate instant opinions. I call it the Court of Public Perception. Strong leaders know that meticulous thought is essential in making a decision. What’s the whole picture? Do we need to mitigate the end result and how do we mitigate? Who is most affected by the decision? Does someone benefit at the expense of others? When everyone is pushing for instant gratification or asking for immediate response, I stay true to self and dwell for a moment. My experience in the Navy and in Law Enforcement reflects my ability to make judgement calls as necessary when necessary. In the General Assembly, educated decisions are the best way to ensure the people of the District are best represented.”

“Visiting Dreamspeed photography was an educational experience. My first discussion with Cindy was to ensure that her small business was available to everyone, not just me. That’s important to me as a supporter of small business to avoid the “(insert party) friendly” stereotype. Cindy used her expertise in capturing the essence of the moment. Valuable tools for any person wanting to promote a business or the individual.”
