Digital Marketing, the Opportunity with Robby Choucair

With the considerable advances in digital technology in recent years and the growth of powerful digital platforms, it is no surprise that digital marketing has also grown in tandem disrupting traditional forms of marketing. This has been very evident in commerce, community activities and politics. Not for profit organisations are also challenged by this disruption but can also seize the opportunity provided and use digital marketing to great effect. Rotary, as an organisation which seeks to build a profile in the local community and beyond to market and promote our activities and attract support, should seek to effectively engage in the digital world as a key to success and even survival. We are in fact being exhorted by our leadership to do this. It was therefore a wonderful opportunity for us to hear the latest on digital marketing from Robby Choucair, a former club member and an expert in the field, who has now set up his own business in this field, Bite and Sight, specialising in digital marketing for dentists and optometrists. Robby gave us some facts and statistics on trends; he profiled the various digital platforms and their reach and gave us a few pointers on the approach to digital marketing such as keeping web sites and pages fresh and strategic promotion among other things. He also busted a few myths the perception that Facebook may be in decline. Some key points from Robby's talk: • In Australia, Facebook ads have the potential to reach over 15 million people • The average Australian clicks on 21 FB ads per month • $10 billon is spent on Facebook and Google ads • Facebook is still very prominent with 6.7 new users per second! • There are 5 steps to good marketing: 1. Target clarity, 2. Traffic, 3. Irresistible bait, 4. Landing page, 5. Sales mechanism and nurturing (see next page)

Our Guest Speakers

Moreland Rotary invites speakers to our club both from our local community and further afield. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and are invited because they hopefully inform and stimulate our members and guests. We feel that this is of value in fostering a deeper understanding of our diverse community and even providing guidance as to the types of activites and projects our club may engage in. However the opinions expressed by our speakers do not necessarily reflect any official viewpoint of Moreland Rotary nor those of individual club members. Irrespective of this we always offer a warm Rotary welcome to all of our speakers.
