Dr. Edward McInnis

Dr. Edward McInnis, Lt. (N), MD, CCFP, has a distinguished family and emergency medicine career. With a decade of experience in emergency and trauma care and sixteen years as a family physician, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his practice. In addition to his medical career, he is a devoted father of four, an athlete, a lieutenant (N) in the Canadian Armed Forces, a Navy reservist, and an active volunteer. Growing up in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, he was the oldest of four children. A strong passion marked his early years for hockey, baseball, tennis, and golf. He played hockey and baseball competitively, reaching Junior A hockey, and was even considered by the Boston Red Sox as a potential pitcher. As an adult, he continued his involvement in sports by taking up weightlifting. His dedication to hard work started when he was young. He had a paper route at age ten and began his first full-time job at McDonald's when he was thirteen. Dr. Edward McInnis pursued extensive education, earning a BBA in 1992 from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After traveling in the United States, he obtained a BSc (Honors) in Biochemistry and Genetics from Dalhousie University in 1997. In 2002, he completed an Epidemiology Certification at Dalhousie University; following his entry into Dalhousie Medical School in 2000, he graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2004. He then completed his internship at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, including Post Graduate Studies in Emergency and Family Medicine. Throughout his career, he has earned several licenses and certifications, such as the Licensure of Medical Council of Canada (MCC), a Sub-Lieutenant rank in the Royal Canadian Navy, and accreditation from the Canadian College of Family Physicians (CCFP). He was later promoted to Lieutenant (N) in the Royal Canadian Navy.
