Dr. Edward R. McInnis
Dr. Edward R. McInnis, Lt. (N), MD, CCFP, is a highly experienced professional in family and emergency medicine. With ten years focused on emergency and trauma care and sixteen years as a family physician, his contributions to healthcare are significant. Outside of his professional life, he is a devoted father of four, a lieutenant in the Canadian Armed Forces, a Navy reservist, and an active volunteer. He grew up in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, as the eldest of four children. Sports played a central role in his upbringing, as he actively participated in hockey, baseball, tennis, and golf. His skills in hockey and baseball led to competitive opportunities, including playing Junior A hockey and being evaluated by the Boston Red Sox as a potential pitcher. His enthusiasm for fitness extended into adulthood, where he added weightlifting to his list of activities. From an early age, he demonstrated a strong work ethic. By then, he was managing a paper route, and at thirteen, he started his first full-time job at McDonald's. His educational journey began with earning a BBA in 1992 from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After completing his undergraduate studies, he traveled across the United States. His academic achievements continued at Dalhousie University, where he earned a BSc (Honors) in Biochemistry and Genetics in 1997 and an Epidemiology Certification in 2002. He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2004 and completed his postgraduate training in Emergency and Family Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. His professional credentials include licensure from the Medical Council of Canada and certification from the Canadian College of Family Physicians. Additionally, he achieved a commissioned rank as a lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy, reflecting his commitment to both medical service and military duties.
