Limiting Your Child’s Screen Time

We use screens all the time, and they are everywhere we look. They are used to keep in touch with family and friends, playing games, and reading the latest news. It is also possible that too much screen time can lead to detrimental eects on kids.

Today, it’s important that we introduce our kids to new technologies, but it’s also important to ensure they are not developing their habits using screens. Even though numerous educational games and resources can help kids develop their cognitive skills, there is not enough evidence that these activities actually benet their development.

Let’s look at a few ways to limit your child’s screen time and make them happy simultaneously!

Set an example

Although it may not seem like it, kids are still smart enough to pay attention to what’s happening around them. One of the most important rules that parents should follow is when it comes to setting limits on screen time. For instance, if you have a rule that says no screens are allowed in the house, then Mom and Dad should refrain from using their phones to check Instagram or Facebook.

According to studies, children are more likely to act out for attention when their parents are occupied with their devices. You must also provide them with opportunities to explore the world outside of their home. This can help them develop their oine skills.

Don’t forget to read

Some activities can be done outside of their home. For instance, you can encourage your kids to read by giving them a list of books they can tackle during school breaks. The benets of reading can help them develop their reading comprehension and speech skills. Try to have them read a book or a comic book.

Get active

One of the most eective ways to get kids involved in team building is through organized sports. This can help them develop their skills and build stronger bonds with their friends. Another great way to keep them busy is playing outside with friends. This type of activity can help them build social skills and make new friends.

Assign chores

Getting kids to help with housework is also a great way to encourage them to participate in a responsible activity. It can help them develop their skills and build stronger bonds with their friends. Having a list of chores can help them keep track of their tasks and reward them if they complete them.

Create a schedule

Limiting kids’ screen time doesn’t mean banning electronic devices altogether. However, it’s essential to consider how much time they spend in front of a screen and how it aects their brain. Setting goals is one of the most eective ways to plan for screen time. For instance, try to limit the morning hours to allow them to have imaginative activities.

The best time to allow children’s screen time is in the afternoon, as the sun is still hot outside. This is because kids have already tired out of their summer. To ensure your child gets enough screen time, try setting a goal of at least 30 minutes per day.
