For
those looking for back pain relief, the offices of Dr. Shan non Bone have been a popular destination. Now those looking for relief from a number of health issues can visit his new medical facilities in North Jackson. Bone has been in practice for 14 years. Recently Bone, along with Dr. Mark Fowler, expanded the Back Pain Relief clinic into two: Advance Rehab and Medical and 45 Urgent Care. Bone was the sole proprietor as a chiropractor when he started Back Pain Relief Clinic in 2002. Fowler and Bone have been working together since 2009. He recently changed the name to Ad vance Rehab and Medical and moved his practice into a newly built facility on North Star Drive, off Old Humboldt Road. "Our new clinic has been in existence since the end of October," Bone says. "We have a new branch of service -- a whole new avenue of treatment: occupational medicine." When Bone and Fow ler decided to move their clinic and rename it, they also decided to add more medical services to the list. Patients can now walk in the doors of 45 Urgent Care to recei ve treatment for health issues such as cold and flu, asthma, allergies, minor fractures, cuts and routine immunizations. "When we decided to relocate we spent several years looking at new locations to buy or build a bigger office," Bone says. "We've treated over 10,000 patients in Jackson. We needed more space."
Once the doctors honed in on the new space, they talked about urgent care. "All of our existing patients now have providers of different backgrounds treating them here," Bone says. "Chiropractors, therapists, medical assistants, MDs, nurse practitioners. We're also focused on rehab. "Patients have other health issues that need to be addressed," he said. "We referred patients to their primary care but some don't have one. Some ask if we could fill a prescription for this or provide treatment forth at. We didn't have the equipment or means." When the practice moved, Bone and Fowler decided to add a new array of services. "The new clinic name better reflects what we do," he says. "We started as just a back pain clinic, then we treated carpal tunnel, headaches, fibromyalgia and sports injuries. 'Back Pain Relief' no longer described our expertise."
The purpose of45 Urgent Care is to fulfill a need for the existing database of patients who continue to see Bone and Fowler for their bone and joint issues. The health clinic is also providing a service for primary and urgent care in Jackson. The benefits to patients are: no wait time, an on-site lab and X-ray technology in a state-of-the-art faci Iity. "There are other places where they accept walk- ins, but the wait times get longer," he says in reference to other urgent care clinics. "We felt this was the right time to expand our services." Bone was born and raised in Dresden. He became interested in chiropractic medicine after suffering from a neck injury he received playing football at age 13. After several visits with his family's physician

Bone said both clinics are staffed with medical personnel using medical treatments and injections not within his scope as a chiropractor. "We're all working as a team to get a patient well. We're kind of a one-stop shop with services all under one roof."

I didn't choose to be a chiropractor, it chose me," he says. "If I had never had that neck injury, I would not be here. I think there are better ways to obtain health than just medicine. I feel like that is what I was called to do." Bone said there are a lot of misconceptions and scrutiny in his field of practice.
