A Lifelong Connection

Conxion Olive Branch offers gymnastics training in a fun and friendly environment. yan McKinley’s passion for gymnastics and competitive Trampoline & Tumbling is clear from the moment you meet him. “I grew up loving these sports,” he says with a smile. “My mother and father met and then cheered together at The University of Southern Mississippi. After college my father coached cheer at Memphis State. My sisters starting cheering at a young age and I cheered in college. My wife, Lindsey, cheered when she was in high school.” Cheer and gymnastics are definitely a family affair for Ryan, who’s lifelong commitment to the sport also includes 22 years of experience coaching that began in high school with the Crossfire Commandos. After coaching at various other facilities in the Tennessee and North Mississippi areas as well as running his own gym, Ryan decided to partner with Doug Jenkins in 2017 and take over the operations of Conxion Olive Branch. “The partnership with Doug was a natural fit,” Ryan says. “Doug’s whole heart is in the right place. We are like minded and partnering with him

just made sense.” Doug continues to operate the Conxion Hernando location. Located at 8804 Caroma Street, Conxion Olive Branch is a recreational gymnastics facility that also offers some competitive teams. Conxion provides a fun, safe and professionally instructed gym experience for students. Their mission statement, ‘Love the sport, love the process, trust our process,’ sums up Ryan’s philosophy perfectly. “It’s not always about winning,” Ryan says. “We want kids to love the gym, to love the sport and to love the process.” Conxion Olive Branch offers a variety of classes and activities to ensure students have an opportunity to work hard, exercise and still have fun. Classes include pre-school gymnastics, recreational gymnastics, cheer tumbling, Ninja Warrior, and competitive Trampoline and Tumbling teams. Conxion boasts the only competitive Trampoline and Tumbling team in Mississippi. Additionally, several Conxion Olive Branch Ninja Warrior students have recently been considered to

Conxion Olive Branch also hosts a parents night out called “Bounce” most Saturdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. where children can play, eat pizza and most importantly, have fun. The cost is $10 per child, and the staff/participant ratio is kept low to ensure that the staff members are able to play and interact with the children. “Our hope is that the staff can make a ‘connection’ with the kids so that they have fun and grow to love this sport,” Ryan says.
