stablished in 1839, Hernando, Mississippi is named after Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto, discoverer of the Mississippi River. Known affectionately as “Mississippi’s Front Porch,” Hernando has a population of nearly 20,000 and manages to combine modern living with a charming small town feel. Located near several major highways, the town is convenient to Memphis and its suburbs and is a popular living destination for commuters who prefer a slow way of life in a close-knit community to a bustling urban setting. Several registered National Historic Landmarks are located in Hernando, from beautifully-landscaped turn-of-the-century homes and businesses to the 1925 Hernando Water Tower which graced the cover of a Grammynominated North Mississippi AllStars album. The quaint town square includes the large county-seat courthouse, boutiques and gift shops, and locally-owned restaurants and other businesses. In addition to several local businesses, the town also hosts modern
