1926 Frank Hinman Pierpont was born in New Haven, CT,1860, and he died in London, England in 1937, at the age of 77. He gained knowledge and training as an auto-mechanic during his youth, and by 1894, he was working at the Loewe AG Type Foundry in Berlin, where the monotype letterpress machine was designed. In 1899, at the age of 39, Pierpont moved to London, where he became the Manager and President of the Monotype Foundry. Some other notable typefaces designed by Pierpont, include Rockwell, Revival 555, and Plantin; all serif typefaces.
