In July of 2003, Allen Buck began his career in the automotive industry. This year he was named Best Service Advisor by voters in the Best of DRIVE’n Awards. Buck attended a vo-tech school after high school. “I knew I needed to know as much about cars as I could take care of customers and get the job done,” he explained. It is this sort of hard work and determination that has helped to make Buck and integral part of the North Point Ford family. “The car business is great because at the end of the day you get what you put in. I could never work a regular job where at the end of the week people get paid the same regardless of how hard they work. I like the thrill of not knowing what’s around the corner and that hard work really pays off,” Fleeman said. Fleeman joined the North Point group in 2009 and worked his way up to General Sales Manager earlier this year. Although he was named Best Sales Manager, Fleeman says the honor isn’t his alone. “At one time in my life I made the mistake of forgetting where I came from, I have worked very hard to get back to where I am currently and I will never make that mistake again. A leader is only as good as the TEAM around them. Whatever that TEAM accomplishes belongs to the entire group, a tribute to their combined effort.” Fleeman also wants to thank his parents for teaching him to put God first. “Without them I might not be the person I am today.” “ And then there is my wife, she has always been my backbone, supporting me in everything I’ve done since I was 18 years old. Chris Chase, Steve Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep “I’m not really one who enjoys the limelight,” Chris Chase said when we told him he was voted Best General Manager in the Best of DRIVE’n Awards. “Pleasing our customers is truly a team effort.” Chase began his career in the automotive industry 18 years ago. “I like this job. Every day is uniquely different. Which Winch is right for me? This question gets asked... A LOT! And there’s not really a right or wrong answer. But it can be confusing so I thought I would give a little information about them to help you make the best choice for you. First of all, a winch is a recovery tool with an electronic motor and a cable that is mounted to your front bumper. So in the event you, or one of your buddies, gets stuck, you simply pull out the cable, attach it to the stuck rig, then use the controller to help pull them out of trouble. They are one of the more important tools that ANYBODY going off road should get as soon as possible. Many times on a winch you will see something like 8K or 9000 or something to that effect. This is letting you know how much weight that particular winch is designed to handle safely. So one that says 8k really means, it’s an 8,000 lb winch. So in order to figure out which one you need, simply figure out how much your rig weighs and go from there. Another big thing to consider is, Steel or Synthetic cables for your winch. Most winches come with either one. The steel cables have been around for years, and are the cheaper of the two. But there are two real safety issues with a steel cable. One, the small strands of steel tend to break after a use or two, and make sharp metal barbs that can cut you pretty badly if your not wearing thick heavy duty gloves. And two if the cable should snap while in use, it carries a lot of kinetic energy and can sling around and really hurt you and your rig. The synthetic cables solve both of these issues. They are just as strong, don’t have any sharp barbs that will cut you, and if one breaks, it simply falls to the ground. Everybody that owns one of these recovery devices SHOULD at some point go through a safety training class on the proper use of it, to help avoid any accidents. Like is said, this is a very brief description of what’s out there.
