A Jeepers Willingness to Help Out It NEVER ceases to amaze me how willing most Jeep owners are to help others. Now, granted, most people, given the opportunity, are willing to help others. But I have found that Jeep Owners tend to look for ways they can be involved and help even those they DON’T know. So, what am I talking about? Let me give you the latest example… Monday night, my wife and I were talking about the tornadoes that had just come through the night before, and we were discussing what we could do to help. During this conversation, I get a phone call from a friend that leads another local Jeep club, and he has already organized a large group to take supplies into Vilonia, and wanted to know if Arkansas Jeep Owners Society wanted to help! I couldn’t say yes fast enough. This was at 9:30 Monday night, and the group was to take the supplies over Tuesday night at 6:30. So we got the word out, and in that short amount of time, we rounded up close to 30 Jeeps and their families, all loaded down with supplies and delivered it to the emergency shelters there set up in Vilonia. The town looked like a war zone… There is nothing but rubble and debris where businesses and houses used to be. There were volunteer workers everywhere, Entergy crews working on restoring power back to whats left of the town, and national guard crews still out searching for missing people. We get through the town and get to the point where the Red Cross is set up a disaster relief center, and pull in, and unload Jeep after Jeep after Jeep of all sorts of supplies. Then we park and help unload other families donations. Then one of the ladies running the place asks us if we could, they have volunteers down the road that have not been able to make it back down there to get any food, and could we take the meals out to them, so everyone got loaded up and headed back out to deliver food to the workers. It was an experience, I will NEVER forget. But this is what owning a Jeep and getting into Sponsored By the culture of Jeepers is all about. People helping people, in any way they can!
