Unity had outgrown its previous spaces and required a single office that would foster connectivity between its staff, while providing an exceptional client-facing experience.
Having occupied multiple buildings in the area since 2009, the interior design honours both the company’s longstanding ties to Brighton and reflects its global values.
This unique community-driven workplace aligns a variety of different spaces and work settings to create a technology-infused brand journey.
Symons House Project Commissioner London and Scottish Student Housing Creator 74
Team David Holt - Director Bianca Yousef - Associate Interior Designer Rob Brown - Interior Designer Megan Jones - Interior Designer 74 created a stand-out – and game-changing - student amenities project for client London and Scottish Student Housing (LSSH) within their newbuild Symons House student accommodation block in Leeds, as well as creating the project’s branding and wayfinding. The client had a vision for a study and leisure space that would be unlike anything seen before in this market in terms of quality and sophistication. The full suite of amenity spaces includes a reception lobby, back-of-house space, study lounge, meeting rooms, library, communal kitchen, toilets, cinema room, gaming lounge and gym, as well as an 8th floor private dining room.
The building, by Leeds-based architectural practice Cunniff Design, takes the form of a reverse L-shape, with seven storeys on its lower horizontal plane and twenty-one on the vertical upright section. Both the building’s ground and lower-ground storeys, where the amenities spaces are located, stand out by being indented from the main building above and also by featuring glazed walls.

As the oldest continually industrialised UK site, the masterplan intertwines placemaking, industrial heritage, sustainability, cultural values and quality, providing arguably one of the largest and most inspiring regeneration projects in the North of England. Number One is the first office building within the £400million Kirkstall Forge 57-acre, mixed-use development.
Boldly conceived as a product that doesn’t currently exist in the market, Number One is a Grade A, BREEAM Excellent, WiredScore Platinum, EPC A rated, high-quality office befitting a city centre but its outof-town location reflects the emphasis on the quality of working life.
