KING OF THE RING
NATIONAL BULLSALE
KING OF THE RING
THE BEEF INDUSTRY’S ONLY PRIZE POOL AUCTION
KING - $25,000 2ND - $15,000 3RD - $5,000
A credit of $5,000 to winning buyer (conditions apply).
HOW IT WORKS
1. The King of the Ring will be run as an extension of the Droughtmaster National Bull Sale, it is not a standalone sale. It will be held on the evening before the commencement of the National Bull Sale during Drinks with Droughties.
To be eligible to participate in the King of the Ring, slots will be open to all vendors of the 2024 Droughtmaster National Bull Sale who offer a minimum of 3 bulls (including the King of the Ring).
There will only be 10 slots available at a cost of $5,000 per slot, and only one slot per vendor will be permitted. Slots can be purchased only by the vendor through their nominated agent. The selling agents for the King of the Ring will be GDL, Elders and Nutrien.
The allocation of slots to agents has been determined based on the average number of bulls sold at the Droughtmaster National Bull Sale over the past 3 years.
Availability of slots will be as follows:
• GDL - 6 slots
• Elders - 3 slots
• Nutrien - 1 slot
Oversubscription of the slots will be managed by the agents based on their assessment of the nominated bulls.
2. Only registered D5 and D4 Droughtmaster bulls that meet the Standard of Excellence can be sold within the 10 slots, and the terms and conditions of the Droughtmaster National Bull Sale will apply to the King of the Ring.
3. The purchase and payment of slots will be due on the 5th of July 2024, three days after pedigree nominations close.
4. Bulls entered in the King of the Ring will be required to be paint branded with the King of the Ring logo which will be supplied to agents.
MANAGEMENT & PROMOTION
• Being a unique concept, the King of the Ring will generate significant interest and attract more buyers and interested parties to the sale. The format of the sale will be enhanced compared to a traditional sale format, as will promotion and marketing.
• The 10 bulls will appear at the front of the Droughtmaster National Bull Sale catalogue, each with their own full page (in colour) incorporating a photograph, pedigree and notes. There will be strict deadlines which will be communicated as early as possible around the submission of photographs in order to meet the timelines for catalogue distribution. At this time, you will need to confirm the bull which you intend to sell in the King of the Ring. A random draw will be undertaken to confirm the order of entry.
• If a bull is withdrawn onsite prior to auction with an accompanying vet certificate indicating that the bull is not fit for sale, the slot holder will be refunded the cost of their slot. If the bull is withdrawn prior to being onsite, the slot holder will not be reimbursed and can either elect to substitute another bull in their slot or forgo the sale.
• Overall sale statistics for the Droughtmaster National Bull Sale will incorporate the King of the Ring. The statistics for vendors who purchase a slot in the King of the Ring will be added to their statistics for the National Bull Sale.
THE WINNERS
• The bull that fetches the highest-price will be crowned King of the Ring. In addition to the sale price, the vendor will receive a prize pool of $25,000, a trophy, and be able to nominate their preferred selling position within their agent’s draw either on day one or day two of the Droughtmaster National Bull Sale for the following year.
• The vendor of the second highest-priced bull will receive a prize pool of $15,000, and the vendor of the third highest-priced bull will receive a prize pool of $5,000. Please note that these prize pool amounts are based on the sale of 10 slots and will be prorated should all the slots not be sold or animals withdrawn onsite.
• The buyer of the highest-priced bull will also receive a $5,000 credit on purchases at the National Bull Sale over the following two days along with a trophy. This will be provided on a ‘use it or lose it’ basis. It can only be used in the year of purchasing the King of the Ring and cannot be rolled over into future years.
• The agent who sells the King of the Ring will receive a trophy.
