Next Gen Report
NEXT GEN G,Day Next Genfrom
ON BEHALF of the Next Gen Committ ee, Thank you! Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Next Gen display at BEEF2021, we were excited to launch our merchandise and humbled by the support we have received through sales and word of mouth. Nothing promotes Next Gen more than you wearing Next Gen merch out and about! Congratulations to Vicki Crowley for winning our limited edition BEEF2021 Next Gen cap giveaway, and to Ariat Australia for donating us a raff le pack won by Mark Heyman. We would also like to express our greatest appreciation to Darren Childs (Glenlands) and Steven Farmer (SC Droughtmasters) for off ering lots 12 and 13 respectively in the BEEF Genetics Focus Sale to be purchased by, for, or on behalf of junior members. Our lucky recipients were Ned (10) and Dustin (7) Power from Lazy A Droughtmasters who now have three Glenlands embryos to implant, and Jean Haviland (12) from Sugarland J Droughtmasters who has already chosen her ‘Pick of the Drop’ SC Droughtmasters heifer. We are over the moon that these genetics will go a long way to kick starting a junior members’ Droughtmaster future. Our next networking event will be our annual Next Gen Auction, to be held this year on September 13 at the National Droughtmaster Bull Sale. We have once again secured some fantastic auction items from very generous donors. As a Committ ee we have been working hard to deliver webinars for a range of audiences designed to inform and provide guidance across a range of topics. To date we have hosted four webinars on the subjects of showing, judging, animal care, and catt le reproduction management. The webinars have been well received by the Droughtmaster community and we would like to thank our guest speakers for their support – Emma Warne (Jembrae Droughtmasters), Tony Newman (FeedPro), Graham Brown (RSVP & Sylvan Springs Droughtmasters) and Megan Brown (Catt lePlan). Recordings of the webinars are available on the Droughtmaster website. The webinars are tailored to Next Gen breeders and new breeders, but everyone is welcome to tune in to our webinars which have quality information to be gained by any breeder.
