BurButler Features and Benefits What to look for in a burblock / burcaddy / burstand. Your dental bur block is one of those essential items that is often taken for granted. The ability to access the sterile bur of your choice with ease is one of those small things that we have to do many times a day, often many times a patient. To have adequate selection of burs and to do so with ease and confidence and efficiency is an everyday task that is often overlooked.

The BurButler has fluted parabolic through and through holes will allow steam penetration, drainage and sterilisation of the burs in situ. • This gives you the ability to store any combination of dental burs on one burblock. • This reduces handling of the burs by the team and potential sharps incidents. • This improves efficiency in cleaning and access to your selection of burs. • This keeps each bur separate during sterilisation procedures and negates the use of “Bur Baskets” which do not separate the burs during sterilisation.

The BurButler is available in many colours: BurButler is a solid block of silicon. Expected lifespan 10 years: • This allows each dentist or each procedure to be colour coded. • This improves practice organisation. • The silicon is a simple solid one-piece medical grade silicon. • The BurButler has no removable elements. • No deterioration of Bungs found in many bur blocks. • Surface deterioration of these bungs is difficult to see. • The bungs are an extra cost to replace. • The bungs fit the metal case mechanically. • The internal fit and interface of the bung cannot be accessed during washing.

This commonly used stand is made of a non autoclavable plastic. • Inserts are difficult to remove and are therefore not removed for surface sterilisation. • Debris can lie inaccessible under the inserts. • Burs sterilised between patients are reinserted into the chairside un-sterilisable stand?

On removal of the inserts one can clearly see the debris, accumulations and surface deterioration.

All surfaces of a burblock should be accessible to these cleaning processes. • Some burblocks have hinges and “closed” areas that cannot be irrigated mechanically remove any microbial debris? • These dead spots may be seen at the interface between base and lid, or when the “Bung” fits onto the metal plate.

Surface interface of bungs unreachable, cannot be irrigated and deteriorates.

No closed lid to act as dust control from aerosol effect.
