A golfer’s experience doesn’t end once they walk off the course. No, there is still work to be done. All of the gear, particularly the golf clubs, must be carefully maintained to ensure the longevity of the clubs. It’s essential to properly take care of golf clubs. Not only are they a significant investment, but it is part of being a golfer. Here are some easy steps to follow to ensure proper care. Storage First and foremost, it is essential to properly store golf clubs. Naturally, golf clubs will be quite safe when stored inside their bag. However, there are a few caveats worth noting here. The bag (and clubs) should be stored indoors, ideally in a dry and temperaturecontrolled environment. You do not want the gold clubs to get too hot while not in use, so avoid storing them in the trunk of a car or even a garage. When preparing to put away your golf clubs, there is one easy rule that should always be followed: never put away wet golf clubs. A wet golf club is more prone to rust and damage and should be avoided at all costs. Thus, carry a golf towel alongside your bag, and make sure to wipe down the clubs before putting them away. Check the Grips Before putting your golf clubs away for the day, take a moment to check the condition of the grips. This can be an easily overlooked part of the golf club, yet it is essential to a good game. As some grips wear out faster than others, it is good to get into the habit of checking them regularly. Proper Cleaning There will come a time when golf clubs will need proper cleaning. Not only will this bring back that nice shine, but it will also increase the longevity of the clubs. To clean, you’ll need a few simple products: water, buckets, dish soap, a soft-bristled brush, and some towels. There is a specific order to follow when cleaning golf clubs, so looking up a full tutorial wouldn’t be the worst idea. Golfers will want to clean the golf club heads first, dunking them in water, scrubbing, and drying. Following that, golfers should clean the grip – this time using a wet towel to do the heavy lifting. As mentioned above – make sure that the golf clubs are completely dry before putting them back in the bag. Given the cleaning they just went through, this may require an extra round of toweling off first.
