Most physicians will only test for TSH, leaving out the lab markers necessary to diagnose Hashimoto's. You can have normal TSH levels and be low in other thyroid hormones or have thyroid antibodies that attack the thyroid tissue causing disease. A complete thyroid lab panel should always include TSH, T3, T4, and Free T3 and Free T4.
If you suspect Hashimoto's, ask your practitioner to add TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies.
Hypothyroidism describes when the thyroid is underactive or produces less thyroid-supportive hormones than needed for optimal health. Ninety percent of hypothyroidism cases are linked to autoimmune thyroid disease, primarily Hashimoto's.
Hashiomoto's typically progresses in three stages:
Stage 1: Silent Autoimmunity
Stage 2: Autoimmune Reactivity
Hashimoto's symptoms can be misleading and are often misdiagnosed as hypothyroidism. Remember to talk to your practitioner about autoimmunity testing.

Feeling cold/difficulty tolerating cold temperatures

Symptoms can be triggered or worsened by multiple factors, including diet, stress, heavy metals, environmental toxins, and viral load. Almost anything can cause your body’s already taxed immune system to become overreactive, resulting in an autoimmune flare.
