Dental Implants: Myths and Facts A few years back, doctors used to treat the damaged teeth with root canals, dentures or bridges. However, these procedures did more harm to the adjacent teeth rather than supporting the damaged tooth. Root canal fails, dentures fall and the bridges require the adjacent teeth to be cut down. With all these unsuccessful procedures, the majority of problems that these things occur is the fact that they are hard on the oral health. To solve this problem, dentists came up with dental implants. However, many people have concerns that with dental implants natural teeth are slowly eliminated and that they induce dental decay. Here are some facts that will bust the myths that people believe regarding the dental implants. Doctors do not require any recognized surgical training to put dental implants This is a fact!!! There is an implant maker who holds instructive seminars for dentists who want to put dental implants for a single weekend. In only two days, dentists are given surgical training certificate which permits and allows them to place dental implants in their patients. Sadly, when training dentists place implants in plastic jaws rather than real patients. It’s hard to care for implants A complete myth; dental implants can be cared just like normal regular teeth. A dental implant when placed is permanently sealed away under the crown of the teeth. A series of implants are placed to support the removable dentures if they are in place; implants are to be cared just like normal teeth and are to be regularly brushed. Caring for dental implants, is no harder than caring for teeth!!! They’re Noticeable This is a myth. The majority of folks believe that the fine metal line that they see along the base of a tooth is the dental implant, however, that is a porcelain dental crown that is fused with the metal. Dental implant restorations are fully unnoticeable as they do not use metal. Porcelain that is used in contemporary dental implants do an amazing job of producing an implant that is translucent in nature. Implants Hurt Pain is the number one reason that many people avoid getting dental implants. For any procedure that is as complex as a dental implant, it is important to make sure that patients

are under anesthesia. Dentists are to perform the procedure only after the patients are under and they can even offer anxiety alleviating sedation too. Though, a minor discomfort is felt when the implant is placed, but it goes away soon enough. Implants Are Impractical Big myth!!! Dental implant procedure are a well-established procedure that has been used for decades.Majority of people believe that dental implants are too new in nature and are still being perfected hence are very uncomfortable getting dental implants. Dental implants have become sensible over the time and are easily available and widely appreciated as the premium system of substituting missing teeth. Not only dental implants look and feel good they also avert bone loss and thwart potential implants problems due to loss of teeth.
