Words to Live by:
God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission ...Somehow I am necessary for His purpose ... I shall do good, I shall do His work; I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place… if I do but keep His commandments and serve Him in my calling. ~John Henry Cardinal Newman~

Thank you…

Ash Wednesday is March 9th this year. If you need Lenten coin boxes/folders and have not yet ordered them, please call or e-mail. And it is not too late to schedule a mission talk for Lent — it is a wonderful time of year to teach children the meaning and yes, the joy, of sacrifice. So many of you do such a wonderful job in this; please let us know the sacrifices you and your students will be making this Lent.

In prayer, we appeal to God's goodness for things we need, acknowledging our faith and trust in Him. During HCA's national prayer week, March 13-20, young Catholics unite in prayer for those in need throughout the world. Materials are FREE, and are shipped automatically to all schools and parishes. If you do not receive your material by the end of February, please let me know.
from Sister Mary of the Angelus, SSVM, to all who were able to participate in the gift collection for the children of Mary, Mother of the Church in East New York. Pictured are some of the children enjoying their presents! The distribution took place on Little Christmas, with the Three Kings bringing the gifts around to the children. Mission takes many forms and happens in many places, across the world and right here at home. Thanks for all you do to promote this important ministry of our Church.
Lenten Soup Lunch/Dinner This coming Lent, why not host a soup luncheon or dinner for your students? You can ask them to make a sacrifice of the money they would have spent on lunch or dinner that day, and provide two simple soups for them to choose from. Along with that, schedule a presentation about mission or a small prayer service. If you want to get really creative, have the students put on a little skit, perhaps “Stone Soup”* where they learn that when everyone chips in a little, wonderful things happen! (*For a script of “Stone Soup” please contact us. Our Lady of the Snow put on a very successful rendition of it three years ago at their Peace & Justice night.)
