Forehead Lift (Brow Lift) in San Francisco WHAT CHANGES CAN BE EXPECTED? The eyebrows are raised, mostly at the outer ends, and the muscles that make the "frown lines" between the eyebrows are weakened or removed. As the eyebrows are raised, extra space appears between the eyebrow and the upper eyelid crease. This operation usually reduces the horizontal lines across the brow as well. WHO IS A CANDIDATE? If your eyebrows are settling down on the forehead and crowding your upper eyelids, you can benefit from a brow lift. Other signs that a brow lift will help are if you have horizontal forehead lines or furrows between the eyebrows.

HOW IS A FOREHEAD LIFT DONE? Dr. Cedars frequently uses the endoscope, essentially a TV camera on a tube, to see under the skin, so the incisions (and therefore the scars) can be limited to several lines extending straight back from the hairline, each less than an inch long. No shaving of hair is required. The tissues are freed under the skin. The lift is maintained by placing internal sutures through the deep tissues and securing them through small tunnels through the outer bone of the head. This operation is usually done under general anesthesia and may be combined with other operations such as facelift or eyelid lift. For men, sometimes a very simple operation can be done that leaves a scar at the upper edge of each eyebrow. This can be done under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. AFTERCARE Only mild narcotics are required for pain control. Sutures are removed from the scalp between one and two weeks after surgery. You can return to work after 4 to 10 days.
