What is it?

Procedure

Perlane® is an FDA approved clear, non-animalbased, biodegradable gel that is composed of hyaluronic acid. Injected into the facial tissue , Perlane® is used to restore volume to the face and improves the appearance of the wrinkles and folds temporarily, especially around the nose and mouth. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugars found in the human body.

Recent research indicates the injectable ller stimulates the growth of new collagen, and possibly prevents its breakdown.

How Does It Work?

The product is injected into the wrinkle that is present at rest, lling the crease just below the top layer of skin (superficially). Once filled, the wrinkle is less apparent causing the

skin to look smoother.

Are Perlane injections painful?

Numbing cream can be applied to the area prior to the injection. After about ten minutes, the area will be numbed on the surface making a less painful injection. Perlane® also has Lidocaine mixed in the hyaluronic gel which aides in a more comfortable experience.

Are The Results Immediate?

Yes. Right after the injection you will see the wrinkle that was injected has an improved appearance. However, you will experience some swelling in the area so you will want to wait at least four to ve days to see the end result of the injection.

Recovery

Just after the injections of Perlane® there will be a few spots of entry that will be apparent, some pinkness of the skin and a bit of swelling. The swelling can last for a couple of days to a week depending on each patient. However, the swelling will disappear and the results will be very apparent making you very pleased.
