PART A In part A) we will we are going to mix complementary colors and learn about the “Neutralized” colors that the opposites colors make. Between the complementary colors is where the browns and camouflage colors are located.

Mix 3 strips made up of a minimum of at least 10 or more complementary colors. Use the primary colors and their complement. Try to keep the brown or neutralized color going as wide as you can. Start by laying out the ½ and 1 ½ in grid like we used in the first exercise. Punch out the squares and overlap.

. PPART B In part B (- 3 primary colors value mixes) we are going to make 3 more strips with the primary colors. You will start by laying out the ½ and 1 ½ inch grid on satin finish Bristol paper like we did on the first exercise. First color strip will be made up of 10 or more cut out squares each overlapping. Pure Yellow will be in the middle with the left blended with white to grade off in to the tents of yellow. The left will blend off with black to the shades of black. (Note the tent of yellow will never reach pure white and the shade of black will never reach pure black) The second and third strips will be the same but with blue and red in the middle. There is no example of Part B available. All 6 ( 3 complementary strips and 3 color value strips) will be mounted on the appropriate size gray cold press cardboard. Grading criteria= Neatness, lack of streaks, and ease of flow or transition, and following instructions exactly.

We will have 2 class periods to work in class on these 6 strips. ( 5/6/10 and 5/11/10 ) Exercise is due at the beginning of class on Thursday 5/13/10.
