Why There’s Nothing Quite Like D’Sapone’s Healthy Shower System?

D’Sapone introduced its “Healthy Shower” services that came with a 5-year warranty. We completed numerous acquisitions creating a portfolio of Healthy Services for both residential and commercial. We successfully acquired the market share of the restoration industry for stone, tile and grout in Atlanta.

Our quality healthy shower differed from other restorations, because the system included grout color sealing service in Atlanta with a pigmented sealer instead of re-grouting. Water based sealer and silicone caulk were chosen for the platform of the shower system, as no solvents have been developed yet. Within months we were devastated with call backs from customers complaining about mold, mildew and peeling issues.

All the call-backs about the caulk mildewing and the seal peeling, led to cannibalization of profits and motivation of the artist in the field. Silicone caulk was turning black and mildewing within 5 months in the shower area despite the large manufacturers stating that their product is mold and mildew resistant. To address this, we called the management of the large silicone manufactures that are sold at big box stores. The management stated, our caulk tubes state “Mold and Mildew

Resistant” not proof. This drove us to change our caulk habits and try other types – acrylic and polyurethane. These two caulks experience the same problems.

The water based color seal was unsuccessful and consumer targeted their concerns about the peeling issues and when scrubbed the sealer came off. The California manufactured product had an up to 30 year warranty on the bottle and when contacted to the manufacturers, they sent out a few bottles and stated our warranty is “UP TO”. Ultimately, none of these products helped and we needed a change so we decided to formulate our own products.

By 2010 pFOkUS was delivering richly engineered and a very durable color seal called Caponi –a 2 part pigmented titanium grout sealer that was not water base. We relied on pFOkUS color seal Caponi to rectify all our call-backs at no charge instead of running like the larger manufactures did. We backed and stood behind our warranties and lost large revenues. The call-backs dragged on for years before they were finally all rectified. At this time, there were no more call-backs on the color seal.

The caulking platform itself still posed call-backs and pFOkUS developed Sentura – a two part pigmented solvent based flexible epoxy/resin. D’Sapone now had a caulk elimination product, which no other restoration company could offer in the world.
