With the ever-changing technology, “books”that are made by papers, start becoming virtualized, which are so called “E-book”. As the carrier of words changes, the library, known as the carrier of books, should also evolve. The project start in a human scale, imagining the future reading mode, and propose a series of library furniture in the future. The furniture become the prototype, and growing into various scale of space, according to the program or external factor.

The programming strategy is to divide the building into two parts: the reading area( blue part ) and the book collection area( yellow part ). The reading areas are linked to the open-spaces, such as the café and gallery. Conversely, the book collection areas are connected to the staff-only parts, such as administration and facilities. Last but not least, in the core of the building, a giant cone-shape book shelf integrate every single spaces.

SITE: Jiuzong Rd., Neihu district, Taipei, Taiwan PROGRAM: social housing, community, department of social welfare, post-office...
Observing from the site, the location at Neihu district has a completely different context with the Minsheng community which is located across Keelung river. The site itself loads a huge amount of large architects and the commercial function is mostly build up by malls instead of smaller stores, also, public transportation isn’t quite convenient there. This time, we tried to bring the strong relationship of street lives on the other side of the river into the site. Starting with developing the housing units: each unit is a truss system while connecting like Tetris with each other, then they form a mega-structure. Roughly divided the prgram into two sections, the Southern side of the site is in a status of residential and commercial mixed-use, they made private kitchens public as restaurants; as for the Northern side, it is a place of pure residential use.

SITE: vendors in Tung-Hai nightmarket, Taichung, Taiwan PROGRAM: student protest center
This project insert an event into the site in order to disturb the balance of parasitism original in Taiwanese nightmarket. I assume that the time came to the last stage of a war, people dropped the weapons and start introspecting the cruelty, the sacrifice, and the waste. Teenagers were so shocked that the exceeding thought led them to subvert all the previous rules and culture. To the society, which play the role of host, teenagers are like the internal parasite. As we known, parasites absorb most of the nutrient, growing up and up, and devour the host. However, while the parasites seem to occupy the space aggressively, they are also repairing the breaches that were ruined by the war. Compromising on the original frame, the parasites bond with the previous structure. Eventually, both parasite and host were combined into a brand-new appearance, and coexist till the next event intervene.

The village was once stationed by the American military, then reconstructed by the Japanese military during the Japanese-occupied period. The wooden-brick blended buildings, which are named after” _Tzu-Hao”, had undergone through plenty of changes of program. The military dormitory was transformed into mortuary, and after that it once became a barn. Today, only few olds live alone in it. As a cohabitation settlement, the project re-implant the previous group that were once lived in the site---the horses. Also, due to the adjacence of the Tanya-Shen Green Bikeway, bicycles, which are seem as metal-horses in Taiwan, become a factor to prosper the village.

SITE: Zhongyi village, Daya district, Taichung, Taiwan PROGRAM: housing, pavilion
As the city center transmitted, some buildings were adandoned and eventually demolished. At the meanwhile, some are so fortunate that they still stand in the village, yet they were left to decay. This project try to propose a fabrication system to face the ruins’issue, expecting to co-construct a new architecture morphosis with its own meanings, through the dialogue between two systems in different ages. According to the irregular status of the site, firstly, I developed a joint as the basic units, which are able to connect themselves like Lego. This creates the flexibility that allows the length adjusting, when assembling with T-beams. After that, I tried to organized the connecting logic of the units. On account of this, I array all the triple-connecting mode, and virus the units in order to generalize the more structural and potential way.
13
At the next phase, I kept my eyes on the in-site strategy. The panel system were added, not just for sealing the frame, but also for defining the programs’range and privacy level. According to differnet program, the system grows into different architecture elements, such as column, floor, wall, and roof....... Naturally, this also derives various kinds of units connection to meet the efficiency. Last but not least, facing the real situation, a few secondary systems must be added to fix the tolerance and solve the usage problems. The final present of this study is not an end, it retains the flexibility to expand or converge, also it is an experimental example for the relive of city ruins.
