PRODUCTION TEAM BIOGRAPHIES Zachary Ziegler (Director) is in his third year at DSHA and is celebrating a baker’s dozen years of teaching performing arts. He has taught band, choir, and theatre in public and private settings across Wisconsin, Alaska, and Colorado. Recent directing credits include Puffs, Freaky Friday, Godspell: 2012 Revised Edition, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show, and CTW’s Matilda and Newsies. He also occasionally performs locally with Big Style Brass Band and the Stalley Cats cover band and is a past member of the Milwaukee Festival Brass. Amanda Marsala (Scenic Designer and Technical Director) has been at DSHA since 2006. Prior to working at DSHA, Amanda worked at The Skylight as a Scenic Carpenter and Deck Chief; at First Stage Children’s Theatre as a Scenic Carpenter; and at the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum as an Exhibit Technician. Here at DSHA, Amanda has had the honor of creating over forty theatre productions with the students, parents, volunteers, and production teams. The energy and enthusiasm the students put into each production never ceases; your dedication keeps this department running! A few of Amanda’s favorite productions here at DSHA are Clue, Legally Blonde, Into the Woods, Mary Poppins, and The Little Mermaid. KyraJo Petit-Walla (Choreographer) has been a teaching artist, director, and choreographer throughout the Chicagoland area for the last several years. She most recently choreographed DSHA’s Community Theatre Works production of Matilda, and is so excited to be back for the fall! KyraJo would like to thank the Sister Act cast and production team, Martha, Emmett, and her husband, Nathan. Mike Van Dreser (Lighting Designer) is a 2004 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He has done lighting design for many Next Act Theatre shows including Big Boys, No Child…, I and You, and One Time. In spring 2019, Mike started his own production company called Stage Right Designs. His company mission statement is to bring professional technical support to all levels of theatre from elementary schools to professional theatre. In 2018, Mike was nominated for a Jerry Award for Lighting Design for Bye Bye Birdie and a Footlights Award for Lighting Design for Next to Normal. In 2019, he was again nominated for a Jerry for Little Shop of Horrors and two Footlight awards for Thoroughly Modern Millie and Hedwig. Brandon Gregory (Sound Designer) is the owner/operator of BGREG Audio, LLC. He has been involved with hundreds of events since 2016, including club shows, large corporate productions, and high school theatrical performances and concerts. Julie Johnson (Music Director and Orchestra Conductor) is thrilled to return to Divine Savior Holy Angels for Sister Act. She is a very active musician who loves to share her happiness and bring joy to others through music and theatre! During the day, Julie serves as the Development Coordinator at the Schauer Arts Center. In her free time, she enjoys working as a music director and pianist with many theatre companies including Outskirts Theater, All in Productions, Waukesha Civic Theater, Hartford Players, Lake Country Players, Menomonee Falls Patio Players, Vintage Theatre, Bombshell Theatre Co., and Mukwonago Village Players. She also loves to accompany concerts and auditions at several area schools.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE One of my favorite parts about putting on a production is digging through the basement for the perfect prop or set piece. There, in the dungeons, are relics of the past scrawled in sharpie or paint. Initials, names, graduation years, and the occasional quote litter the walls and ceiling. Here, students from the past have left their mark for the future to see. These students took pride in their work and needed to brag about it to students present and future. I like to wonder how these students feel about their experience now. In the years (or even decades) since, how often have they used a skill learned on or behind the stage? Do they still talk to former castmates? Do they remember the feeling of receiving that final applause on closing night? Theatre has a unique opportunity to change us. Participating in such an immersive art form and spending so much time with people builds an intimacy that is rarely rivaled. Theatre is also a very vulnerable art form. Actors need to develop confidence in themselves as well as community with each other. All it takes is one person to justify and celebrate an actor's choice or laugh and poke fun at them to either build up or derail that connection. Sister Act's heroine, Deloris Van Cartier, experiences this head-on. For years, she's been hearing "sit down" and "shut up." Her talents are hidden by poor relationship choices and bad friends. When she is finally given the chance to shine, she gets the recognition she is certain she deserves, even if it comes from an unexpected source. She also, after some time, allows herself to be changed by her new home. She forms bonds, learns about herself, and grows as a person thanks to the help of her sisters. I hope, in their own way, these students have allowed themselves to be changed by this show while simultaneously leaving their mark on the future of DSHA Theatre. I hope they forged something meaningful and true: a sisterhood. In Sister Act, we embrace the late-1970s in color, style, and sequins. We utilize simple sets to allow our performers space to tell this story with their bodies as well as their voice. We accent the purposefully drab with glitz and glamor. And finally, we hope you enjoy our show!

VOLUNTEER THANK YOU Thank you to the families and friends of our cast and crew who have spent countless hours volunteering to help make this production possible. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic support network to help us create shows like Sister Act. We couldn’t do it without you! ̶ Zach, Amanda, and the entire Production Team
