Greetings Sorors, It is with profound joy that I join the leaders of the Farwest Region, Director, Lydia Cincore-Templeton, Esq., and the Regional Representative, Taryn Frazier, in welcoming you, my sorors, from around the United States, and the world, to the Sorority’s 53rd National Convention in the City that never sleeps, Las Vegas, Nevada. I extend a very special welcome to our 25th National President, Dr. Paulette C. Walker, the Executive Committee and Board, National Committees, Past National Presidents and Honorary Members. I join with all of you, my sorors, in expressing my heartfelt gratitude to the Las Vegas Alumnae Chapter, the President, Tami V. Bass and sorors for their unending work in assisting with the planning and preparation for our return to their city for our 53rd National Convention. I extend special gratitude to the Convention Co-coordinators, Sorors Sandra Phillips Johnson and Verna Stringer, the local, regional and national committees, and our dedicated national headquarters staff, headed by our Executive Director, Soror Roseline McKinney. Let us convene in this, our second century, deeply rooted in the history of our Sorority’s 104 years, and firmly committed to continuing and building upon the great legacy of our twenty-two noble Founders. In the spirit of continuing to build upon our great legacy, let us through our Convention general sessions and workshops, as well as networking with sorors and chapters, take our knowledge of Delta’s history, programs and internal policies to a higher level. And as we meet during one of the most tumultuous times in our nation’s history, I implore all of us to be ready to answer Delta’s call: to stand up for the underprivileged; give voice to the weak; and fight without ceasing to repeal any legislation that strips African Americans of their hard fought rights and liberties. It is both timely and appropriate because now, more than ever, is the time for Deltas to be in action! There is no time to sleep when every civil right we as a people have fought for tirelessly – have even died for, is under attack. Finally, let us leave this 53rd National Convention and return to our chapters, renewed and inspired to be a force in our communities doing Delta’s work in our Sorority’s second century rooted in our theme: “Uncompromising Commitment to Our Communities: Service, Leadership and Empowerment.” Sorors, this is Delta’s work. This is Delta’s legacy. And, we have much work to do. Yours in Delta, Mona Humphries Bailey 17th National President Welcome

 Sorors, We are elated to greet you on behalf of the historic and dynamic EASTERN Region. The EAST, birthplace of our illustrious sisterhood, is home to 141 collegiate and alumnae chapters along the Eastern Seaboard, as well as international chapters in Germany, St. Thomas and St. Croix. We are delighted to come together in Las Vegas, NV with our sorors from across the world on the occasion of our 53rd National Convention. As we know, our sorority was founded on Christian principles by 22 fearless, young women who stepped out on faith and had a penchant for social action. They believed in sisterhood, scholarship and service, as well as the importance of being at the forefront of social change. We must continue to build upon their legacy by being the game changers that we were called to be so that the force of our impact will live on for generations to come. As Delta women, we are part of an organization of distinction whose tenacity has enabled us to withstand the test of time. We congratulate and thank all of our outgoing officers for your unwavering service. Yet we are excited, as we know that our dynamic leadership that remains will inspire us to move the pendulum forward. While we are together this week, let us celebrate the bonds that we have forged and partnerships we have built, always remembering that each of us plays a vital role in keeping Delta's vision alive. The Bible reminds us, “not to grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” There is no doubt that the EASTERN Region is the “First to Serve, First to Lead and First to Empower,” which is why our enduring legacy is rooted in each of you. Sorors, as Delta's story continues to unfold, let us make an indelible mark as we rewrite history together in the name of our glorious sisterhood! Yours in Delta,
