Raising funds to save the tiger in the wild www.tigertime.info
ABOUT TigerTime and ‘Stars & Stripes’ Founded by British wildlife artist and conservationist, David Shepherd CBE, TigerTime is a campaign run by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation to raise awareness and funds to save the tiger in the wild. “With only an estimated 3,000 tigers left in the wild TigerTime was launched to increase awareness and funds for the vital conservation projects that my Foundation supports in India, Thailand and the Russian Far East,” explains David Shepherd. “I for one refuse to stand by and watch the tiger become extinct.” The campaign works by engaging new audiences through social media networks around the world. Its aim is to spread the word about the plight of this iconic big cat and to inspire people to join the fight to save the tiger by campaigning for changes to the law governing the trade in endangered species and raising funds to support the Foundations vital work in the field. TigerTime has a wealth of celebrity supporters whose activity on social media and through the contribution of their time is helping to give voice to the campaign and to the tiger. TigerTime is indebted to the celebrities who have helped with its ‘Stars & Stripes’ celebrity postcard event and hope that it will raise much needed funds to conserve this most beautiful of cats.

The Sumatran tiger is Indonesia’s last remaining subspecies - hunted, trapped and killed and heading for extinction. This creature is only one of the world’s great glories unbearable to think that mankind will send it to its eternal grave. Drawn with love and respect (and not much skill).

Tigers are arguably the most beautiful of the big cats - icons of all that is wild and free. A planet without the magnificent creatures roaming the forests is unthinkable. The DSWF TigerTime campaign gives us all the opportunity to take positive action - to ensure that the fire of the tiger burns bright in perpetuity.

The tiger represents the best of nature, power, beauty, majesty and honour. Evolution has created a wonderful creature that is a gift we should treasure. As a generation we don't want to be responsible for it's demise and have to explain our utter ignorance, betrayal and abject failure in protecting the Tiger, that would be and unforgivable crime not only against this wonderful creature but against all the future generations that should be able to marvel at in the wild not from the pages of history

I was lucky enough to experience tigers in the wild in India and Nepal and it changed the course of my life. Aside from their obvious charismatic beauty there is something utterly overwhelming about setting eyes on these magnificent creatures, something which is difficult to put into words. I am at a loss to understand how we humans, who pride ourselves in being an intelligent and sophisticated species, have allowed the tiger to reach such a critically endangered status. What does it say about us if we allow them to go extinct?

We’ve grown up listening to stories throughout our childhood of the majestic tiger, presuming that they will always be part of our planet. But if their demise continues at the current rate it won’t be long before the tiger becomes extinct and all that will remain is a ‘once upon a time story’. Please take a few minutes to show your support for TigerTime and help tigers remain part of our future generations lives.

As a massive animal lover it is appalling to watch as the human race is on the verge of annihilating the wild tiger population. We have a responsibility to ensure the survival of these magnificent big cats in the wild. We should be ashamed that the number of wild tigers has fallen from 100,000 to just over 3,000 in 80 years. There are various things that can be done to help stop this & taking a few seconds to sign up to TigerTime is the least any conscientious animal lover can do.

Nothing compares with the majesty of a wild tiger. There is something almost mystical about its power and presence. It has never been more threatened. With only 3,000 left in the wild they are facing extinction. Never has it been more urgent for everyone who cares about our planet and its wildlife to join forces to save this iconic animal. A world without tigers is unthinkable. Please, just for a few seconds, put all your other cares and worries aside and sign up to www.tigertime.info. I know in my heart that it will be one of the most important things you do today.

If we lose this magnificent, magical creature carelessly we will not only be letting the planet down, we will let our children down. TigerTime is trying to help us make a difference, let’s make sure we help them make it happen. Save the tiger - we don’t want this animal to just exist in stories and our imagination - it belongs on Earth with us, real and vibrant.

Tigers are very important to our ecosystem - when the top predator disappears, the whole balance is due for collapse. TigerTime is trying to address that balance. They get my full support.

PRINCE OF INDIA Wildlife artist, Richard Symonds has been actively involved with raising money and awareness for wildlife through the sale and auction of his original paintings, drawings and limited edition prints for 22 years. His paintings include life-size tigers, lions, and elephants. Following in the footsteps of long-term family friend and inspiration, wildlife artist David Shepherd, Richard chose to concentrate on wild animals in their natural habitat. He has been fortunate to travel to many corners of the globe from the USA, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe in search of wildlife. He has exhibited at Christie’s in London and New York, Sotheby’s, Harrods, banks and private galleries in and around London and his work is found in private and corporate collections worldwide. In 2005 Richard completed and sold his first life-size pencil drawing of a tiger at Christie’s raising funds for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s conservation work. “It feels fitting that 10 years later I am now painting another life-size tiger for the charity and their TigerTime campaign,” says Richard. Prince of India is based on a photograph taken by Michael Vickers (www.tigersintheforest.com) another DSWF / TigerTime supporter. “This is T2 or the Chiroli Male who once reigned over a huge territory in Ranthambore National Park, India. He sired many cubs including the current large male known as ‘Romeo’. T2 died of natural causes two years ago and it is wonderful to see his legacy live on in this painting by Richard Symonds with proceeds from the sale supporting vital tiger conservation work,” says Michael.
