elcome to the 2015 Wildlife Artist of the Year exhibition at the Mall Galleries. This is the eighth year that my foundation - the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) has run this prestigious event. It attracts artists from all over the world and showcases some of the best wildlife art while at the same time raising vital awareness and funds for the endangered wildlife that DSWF works so hard to protect. For over forty years I have seen my art as a valuable way of raising awareness and funds for the wildlife that I love and I am thrilled that so many of the artists exhibited here share that same passion.
Every painting, sculpture, postcard, catalogue or print sold here this week, and every donation made, will help fund conservation projects across Africa and Asia which work to protect some of the planet’s most iconic and threatened species. Thank you to Andy Skillen Photography for sponsoring this catalogue (see page 73) and to all of you for your support.
David Shepherd CBE, FRSA
Founder & President The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation
About DSWF Founded in 1984 by wildlife artist and conservationist, David Shepherd CBE, the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) works to protect some of the world’s most iconic and endangered mammals. Born from the desire to give something back to the animals that helped David become an established artist, art still plays a major role in funding our antipoaching and conservation work across Africa and Asia. We work with trusted partners to create long-term, sustainable futures for wildlife and the people who share their wild spaces. From education and community outreach to anti-poaching and undercover investigation work our aim is to educate and protect. Our current funding protects: Tigers in Thailand, India and Russia Elephants in Zambia and Uganda Rhino in Namibia and India Snow Leopards in Mongolia Painted Dogs in Zimbabwe Moon Bears in Vietnam and China We fund undercover investigations into wildlife crime and trafficking in India, South Africa and across Asia.
DSWF would like to thank everyone who has helped make this exhibition possible including all the staff, judges, artists, celebrities and sponsors:
Mr & Mrs Covey Tilney Bestinvest, Barlow Robbins, Powertraveller, The Oliver Foundation, Silversurfers.com, Carol Cordrey, Gary Hodges, Simon Trapnell, The Artist Magazine
Index We support education and demand reduction programmes in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, India, Russia, the UK and Vietnam. We launched the TigerTime campaign in 2011 to engage new audiences in the fight to save the tiger and now have over 500,000 supporters. You can find out more at www.tigertime.info We run art competitions for children and adults including: Global Canvas Art & Poetry - For children creating collaborative displays of art and poetry showing their passion and understanding for the natural world. The exhibition and prize giving is staged at the Natural History Museum each spring. Wildlife Artist of the Year - For professional and amateur wildlife artists over the age of 17, held annually at the Mall Galleries, London. We have the world’s largest collection of art by David Shepherd along with a wide selection of art from supporting artists which we sell online and in our gallery in Shalford, Surrey.

Wildlife as it should be...
It has always been a privilege to be associated with DSWF, an organisation that has the same values in its conversation efforts, as I have with my photography: namely that wildlife should be seen and appreciated exactly as it is, and not in some idealised manner. As such, 50% of the proceeds from all of my fine art print sales go directly to the charity, in order to help with its ongoing work. Fine Art, limited edition photographs: www.faunavista.com
