Mary Valley Country offers a wide range of habitats from open waterways to rainforest and parklands with a matching variety of birdlife for every level of ornithology.

Go lure or fly fishing for the Saratoga and feisty Bass on Borumba Dam. Fish are plentiful as licenses ensure fish are regularly re-stocked or try your luck in the Yabba Creek

Take a day trip and visit the villages, stunning lookouts, tranquil waterfalls or the forestry driving tracks. Stop in a local cafe or hotel for lunch or coffee and discover boutique shops.

Cheese, wine, food and music festivals, art exhibitions, studios, galleries, historic collections, all add to the cultural patchwork of the Valley.

Amamoor

Amamoor sits on the Amamoor State Forest offering drives, rainforest walking trails, bird watching and camping at the popular Cedar Grove and Amamoor Creek campground. Amama Park is perfect for day visitors and ideal for picnics.

This otherwise quiet village boasts a delightful tea house and general store and is also the main thoroughfare for Gympie Music Muster fans every August.

Kandanga offers a range of facilities which include a swimming pool, tennis courts, and lawn bowls/country club. An information centre doubles as a gift shop, book and internet library. The town has a reputation for its very friendly RV park. Visitors are encouraged to explore the weir, go canoeing and lookout for platypus.

Imbil

Imbil is the largest town in the Mary Valley and is the gateway to Borumba Dam.

Nestled on the banks of Yabba Creek it provides visitors with beautiful parklands, a variety of shops and services, stylish eateries, weekly markets and more. Imbil State Forest joins the town providing immediate access to forest walks, rides and drives. Home to International endurance riding which attracts visitors from across the country to enjoy the natural playground of creeks, waterfalls, dam, forests, wildlife and more.

Brooloo

Brooloo is perfect for horseback riding or soaking up the quaint country atmosphere of the valley. Visit the designated Bellbird habitat to experience the unique melodies of these tiny birds. In earlier years Brooloo was the end of the Mary Valley Railway line and boasted a hotel.

Kenilworth

Kenilworth boasts a delightful main street which provides a diverse shopping experience with delightful eateries, a bakery, art galleries, fabulous fashion shops and a cheese and yoghurt factory. Kenilworth retains its historic 1920’s atmosphere and has a very engaging historical museum. Activities include camping, hiking and four-wheel driving experiences in various national parks.

Conondale

A short drive from Maleny, Conondale sits in a valley at the headwaters of the Mary River. Scenic drives through traditional dairy pastures take in a number of famous beauty spots, creeks and picnic areas, including the cool tranquillity of Little Yabba Creek rest area en-route to Kenilworth. Walkers can explore the Conondale Great Walk for a range of experiences.

Crystal Waters

Crystal Waters Eco Village is set in 650 acres of bushland at the headwaters of the Mary River, only 8km from Conondale. Renowned as a permaculture village, Crystal Waters holds monthly markets and evening music events.
