Biafra: Group to drag Buhari to ICC for extrajudicial killings

A human rights group, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has concluded arrangement to drag President Muhammadu Buhari before the International Criminal Court of Justice for extra- judicial killing of unarmed peaceful protesters in Port Hacourt. They were demanding for the unconditional release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB ) and Executive Director of Radio Biafra, Comrade Nnamdi Kanu, who had been illegally detained. The group condemned Buhari

for ordering security men to shoot at sight, at the protesters which led to the death of few of them, insisting that Buhari has committed an offence against the innocent citizens of Nigeria which he pledged to protect while taking the oath of office. It criticised the series of attacks against the activists of IPOB by Military Personnel and anti-riot policemen on the orders of President Buhari that the protesters -IPOB should be shot at sight. CHRSJ’s Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Sulaiman, frowned at the way and manner the un-

armed peaceful protesters in Port Harcourt and part of the South Eastern and South South Nigeria were being attacked in a democratic era, describing the attack as undemocratic, anti-people and criminal in nature, insisting that President Buhari led –Federal Government has committed a serious offence against humanity. He added that the blood of those who lost their lives and sustained injuries during the brute attack of IPOB would continue to haunt Mr. President.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has shed more light on the shocking details of sleaze that characterised the administration of former Governor Lucky Igbinedion. He announced that the government is planning to look into the unlawful withdrawal of $31 million from government coffers for questionable business dealings which were clear abuse of power by the Igbinedion administration. Speaking to members of the civil society groups and students of the Ambrose Alli University who thronged the Government House in their thousands to pledge their support to the government on its policies, especially the Land Use Charge Law, the governor said the Igbinedion family had thrown caution to the wind and was using its television and radio stations to wage a war against him because he recovered over 200,000 hectares of land illegally dashed Chief Gabriel Igbinedion by his son, Lucky, when he was governor. stressing that he was not deterred by the media campaign against him, the governor said he would do what is always right in the interest of the Edo taxpayers no matter whose ox is gored. His words: “Let me thank all of you for coming out in this

To be able to do that, everybody, and I mean, everybody born of a woman that lives in this state must be subjected to the rule of law. “In the interest of Edo people, even the one yet unborn, I want to be remembered after my stewardship not only for roads, hospitals, schools, much more importantly, I want to be remembered as the man who brought an end to exemption. There is no more exemption in Edo State. I want to be remembered as the man who took from those who have bastardised, raped and privatised the resources of Edo State, used our money to build their private universities, and walk around our streets when they are supposed to be in prison. “Let me share with you some of the things that are going on and why they are angry. I did not promise to make everybody happy, what I promise was to make the majority happy. I will publish records in black and white and Edo people will be shocked how they have been raped by CONTINUED ON PAGE 9
