WELCOME TO DUCATI

DUCATISTI FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD CELEBRATE 90 YEARS OF HISTORY TOGETHER The 90th anniversary year has brought many great satisfactions, from the sales results to the success of the World Ducati Week which surpassed all expectations, and a return to victory in the MotoGP. We have celebrated in lots of different ways: the complete refurbishment of the Ducati Museum, the round-the-world journey with the Multistrada 1200 Enduro touching on symbolic places in our history and a photo-book celebrating the style of our motorcycles. Ducati is continuing to grow – both in the hearts of our fans and in the increased product range. Such growth wouldn’t have been so substantial without the participation of all the Ducatisti, including the company employees, the competitors on the racetracks and our customers and fans all over the world These are people who represent our brand with pride and enthusiasm and who, each in their own different way, contribute to the attainment of a common goal. It’s thanks to them that Ducati is so popular today and we wanted to celebrate this important anniversary together with them.

Passion beyond the borders. www.alpensrl.com 3

The anniversary celebrations also bring to mind the people who have become symbols of the company over these first 90 years, and without whom Ducati wouldn’t have become the company it is today. First and foremost the founders - brothers Bruno, Adriano and Marcello Cavalieri Ducati. They founded the company under the name of “Società Scientifica Radio Brevetti Ducati” in 1926. The passion and research of Adriano in the field of physics and radio

4

transmission brought the company the technical impetus it needed to develop increasingly sophisticated products. The company’s initial growth was pretty rapid but it’s improbable that anybody at the time would have thought that such a small company which worked in the fields of electronics, optics and mechanics, would have been transformed into one of the most famous and winning motorcycle producers in the whole world.

On the subject of winning, the memory of our return to victory in the MotoGP thanks to the double at the Zeltweg racetrack in Austria with Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso taking first and second place is a remarkable one. It was an intense, deserved and gratifying moment which demonstrated the effort and commitment made by everyone at Ducati Corse in order that our motorcycles and our riders are on a par with the best riders in the world. In Austria we were able to show our potential, putting all the hard work and effort made at Ducati Corse to go use. This result was obtained thanks to the commitment of the whole team, who are continuing to work hard to carry on in this direction.

The Ducati Corse racing team celebrates Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso, first and second on the podium at Zeltweg.

Back to the 90th anniversary celebrations, we decided to mark this ninety year landmark at the World Ducati Week, together with the community of Ducatisti. Three unforgettable days, thanks to the fans who swarmed to the Misano racetrack, the dozens of initiatives and the presence of the current and past riders who have made the history of our brand so great. The World Ducati Week is an event that has reached remarkable proportions, both in terms of the number of attendees and for the wealth of contents. Thanks to the event Ducatisti from all over the world have the opportunity to set their enthusiasm free, unlock their passion and grow their sense of belonging. A special atmosphere pervaded the busy programme which got all the attendees involved, whether in the paddock, on the track or beyond the racetrack, from early morning until late at night. There were a great many exciting and moving moments but what made the 2016 WDW so special and unforgettable were perhaps the smiles, expressions of the people who celebrated with us at this magnificent Ducati party. Next on the agenda is the Milan motorcycle exhibition with a preview of the new models for 2017 and work will commence for the coming year with all that we have in store for our fans. Thank you everyone. Viva Ducati, viva the Ducatisti. Claudio Domenicali AD Ducati Motor Holding

The great parade sets off with all the Ducatisti present at the 2016 World Ducati Week which took place at the Marco Simoncelli Misano World Circuit.

1998 at the Borgo Panigale factory site, has been renovated to mark the 90th anniversary of the company and has reopened to the public with a new look and a new narrative. The most significant change is that road bikes are now also displayed in the museum which had previously been dedicated exclusively to race bikes. The new layout includes iconic motorcycles that have made the Ducati story what it is; they are presented at the museum together with a series of artistic installations inspired by

16

the concept of each individual project. In this new layout the story of each bike is told as if it were a work of art in which it takes centre stage. The story of the Ducati production bikes is told in its entirety, highlighting the technological, economic and social contexts within which they were developed. 20 production motorcycles are on display, divided between four different rooms; 17 of them have never been displayed before.

There are still plenty of events celebrating the company’s 90th anniversary. Following the massive celebrations at World Ducati Week and a major renovation of our museum, now is the moment to tell our story - and we’ve decided to do so via that unique design which has always been our

20

brand’s hallmark. In close collaboration with the Skira publishing house - a visual arts specialist - we’ve produced a photographic volume dedicated to the stunning style and allure of Ducati bikes. A fascinating story to browse through, admire and enjoy thanks to that uniquely Italian design which is renowned all over

the world. The dual-language book - in English and Italian - will be distributed worldwide. It can be purchased via national and international Skira book distributors, via the main online platforms, the Ducati sales network or at online Ducati shops.

Some revolutions are destined to change the lives of those who ride them forever. Only a road sports bike would have the ability to transport the emotions of sport into every single riding experience both on the racetrack and road. That’s why the SuperSport is defined as “Sport, made light”, a motorcycle available to all yet is ready to light up the road with its energy. The design of the bike is both sporty and elegant, interpreting the Ducati values perfectly by introducing a concept of sports that’s less extreme and easier to handle, with a riding position that’s

comfortable both for the rider and the passenger and efficient aerodynamic protection even at the highest speeds. With 113 Hp, 210 kg and the vigorous torque of the Testastretta 11° engine, the SuperSport is perfectly at home on everyday roads and, thanks to the precision and control provided by refined electronic management. This together with the most recent development of the Ducati trellis frame, which makes the most of the engine as a structural element, it allows the rider to express their sports attitude anytime, anywhere, in perfect Ducati style. 30

Constant investment in ultra-quality design, materials and technology means the 937 cc Testastretta 11° engine has very long maintenance intervals. The oil is changed every 15,000 km (9.000 mi or every 12 months), while valve clearance is checked every 30,000 km (18,000 mi).

68 OF OUR CLUB PRESIDENTS FROM L I G U R I A T O T H E W O R L D D U C AT I W E E K 127

The World Presidents Meeting (WPM) is a worldwide event which, since 2003, Ducati has dedicated to the presidents of all the official clubs. The event involves meetings and a motorcycle tour on some of the most beautiful roads of Italy and elsewhere: in 2013 it was in Sicily, in 2014 Austria, ending up at the WDW via Trentino Alto Adige and in 2015 in Sardinia. This year the WPM set off from Liguria on June 25 and reached the WDW via Tuscany, with even more people taking part than in previous years, involving116 people including the organisers. 68 presidents from 27 nations represented all the continents: Europe, Asia, America and Oceania and there was an increase in participants from Asia compared to the previous editions. 128

129

The WPM is an opportunity for presidents to get together with colleagues from all over the world to share their passion for Ducati as well as, naturally, trying out new models of motorcycle. The bike which took centre stage at the WPM 2016 was the new Multistrada 1200 Enduro and for this reason one day of the event was dedicated to the Ducati Riding Experience specifically aimed at this model – the DRE Enduro school at Castello di Nipozzano in Tuscany.

Ducati Globetrotter 90th is the round-the-world journey with the Multistrada 1200 Enduro, organised to pass along the roads and through the places where the most significant events of the first ninety years of our company’s history have taken place. The tour, covering a distance of over 30,000 km, is being carried out by seven riders each taking turns. The riders were selected from the more than three thousand people who applied to take part. The journey began on 4 July from the company headquarters in Borgo Panigale, Bologna. The first stage ended in Moscow where the first Globetrotter, Vir Nakai from India, symbolically passed the torch to Frenchman Laurent Cochet who rode for 9,100 km across the legendary Trans-Siberian ending in Vladivostok, where he handed over to the third Globetrotter Jessica Leyne.

The 2017 Multistrada family is enhanced by new technical features and a brand new colour scheme: the 1200 S Volcano Grey. When it was first launched, in 2010, the Multistrada 1200 stood for an authentic revolution, presenting the concept of “four bikes in one” for the very first time. Now, thanks to a different airbox in the intake section and a remapped engine setting, the twin-cylinder Testastretta DVT’s mid-range delivery is even more torquey while the stunning Volcano Grey colour, paired with a red frame and black wheel rims, adds a further touch of exclusivity to the 1200 S.

WHEELS AND WAVES 2016 THE DUCATI SCRAMBLER IN BIARRITZ Once again this year a number of Ducati Scramblers were present at Wheels and Waves in Biarritz and once again this year they reached the great event dedicated to customised motorcycles and surf through a journey carried out in total Land of Joy style. The team made up of Aileen De Silvestris – German motorcyclist and influencer, Sergio Layos biker and Red Bull Ambassador - and Jamie Robinson - aka MotoGeo, jourmalist, former rider and youtuber all left from Llanera Church, a deconsecrated church in northern Spain that has been transformed by Red Bull, with the help of artist Okuda, into a paradise of Street Art & Skateboard. On the way to Biarritz they passed through Bilbao and El Rollo where MotoGeo took part in a Flat Track Race riding a Scrambler Flat Track Pro.
