On September the 6th 1956, Johnny Allen set the world absolute speed record of 214.40 mph for a motorcycle at Utah’s Bonneville Salt flats. Texas racer, Allen, set multiple speed records at the controls of the “Texas Ceegar”, a stream-lined outershell that encased the Triumph powered motorcycle, resulting in the 214.40 mph speed record. The Triumph Bonneville motorcycle was born. Fifty-eight years later and new for AW14 is the Speed Record jacket. Designed and inspired by the “Texas Ceegar”. Fabric Technologies

Waterproof Technologies SympaTex

We use a variety of fabric constructions in our range, each developed to meet the performance levels of our riders.

The SympaTex membrane is a 5 µm thick membrane that is laminated on a textile base, providing apparel and shoes with protection against moisture. The secret of the SympaTex membrane is its functionality based on its composition. The nonporous membrane functions solely according to physiochemical principles. The hydrophilic (waterattracting) elements of the SympaTex membrane absorb moisture (transpiration) in the form of vapor from the body and transport it from the inside to the outside. What is special about this process is that the SympaTex membrane adapts to the increasing level of exercise, offering dynamic breathability.

HITENA is a super tenacious fabric made of a high-tenacity polyamide yarn. The yarn is twisted to give it additional tear- and abrasionresistance while maintaining a soft surface feel. It is 20% lighter than other polyester materials of the same denier, making it ideal for modern motorcycle garments. DuPont Cordura fabrics are made using yarns or fibers from Invista. Fabrics can be made using 100% synthetic fiber, or in blends with cotton or other natural fibers, and are known for their durability and resistance to abrasions, tears, and scuffs. 1000 denier Cordura has an abrasion-resistance equivalent to 1.3mm competition-grade leather. Superfabrics are highly technical fabric applications that can be found on garments like the Kalahari Jacket. Offering high levels of abrasion resistance, higher tear strength and stain resistance than standard base fabrics. Dupont Teflon® fabric protector is applied to the outer fabric to increase the garments protection from water, dirt, and stains. Outlast® Temperature Regulating Technology is renowned world wide as the product for temperature regulation. Initially cool to touch, the Outlast® microcapsules absorb excess heat. Stored heat is released back to the body as required resulting in a constant microclimate. Not too hot, not too cold, just right.™

Leather Technology All of our leathers are sourced from high-quality, free-range livestock that are reared in natural surroundings away from barbwire fencing that may damage the hide. The majority of our leathers are sourced from Brazil and are given different treatments and finishes dependant on the product they will be made in to. For example, for sports products we generally use Monaco or Carbon leather which has a more consistent grain texture, while our classic leather products use drum-dyed or washed leathers for a more heritage feel.

The nonporous structure of the compact hydrophilic membrane ensures optimal climate control and keeps drops of water (rain) away. The SympaTex functional textile is made of polyether-ester that represents no health hazard and is therefore absolutely environmentally friendly, and skin friendly and recyclable like a PET bottle. SympaTex is used within our premium waterproof products such as the Explorer Jacket & Jeans. Optimal breathability/100% waterproof/100% windproof 100% recyclable.

TriTex TriTex is a performance membrane developed by Triumph, offering high-performance waterproof, windproof, and breathable technology to a number of our products. TriTex is a porous membrane that offers high levels of waterproof protection against the elements while the windproof properties protect against the wind-chill. Products like the Acton 2 Jacket use a z-liner where the membrane is placed between the outer shell and inner lining of the garment, giving the product greater flexibility during riding.

Hydrovent™ Hydrovent™ technology is a new technology designed to change the way we view comfort and performance from a sports fabric.

Maximum Comfort FIT Technology

Hydrovent™ gives the athlete a fresh-feet feeling designed to enhance performance and comfort. This also gives an influential psychological advantage and allows more focus to the challenge.

Lamination system to securely fix the TriTex waterproof, windproof, and breathable z-liner into our gloves. MC Fit ensures the liner, TriTex membrane and outer glove stay tightly secure to increase comfort with no bulky feeling. It also reduces the inner lining pulling out of the glove.

All riding products are developed to fit CE-approved Knox® protectors. Knox® specializes in the design and manufacture of impact protection for use across a wide range of high-risk sports, including motorcycle riding. As the first company in the world to gain CE approval, they are recognized as a brand leader in their field. In-house testing facilities enable Knox® to implement extensive research and development programs. This ensures that their products are technically superior and that quality is consistent. Knox® products are independently tested and approved by an CE-Certified Test house. We carefully consider the riding requirements of each garment before selecting the appropriate protection, for example our Adventure/Tour garments use the longer elbow and knee protectors for coverage to the wrist and over the shin, while our classic and ladies garments use the shorter soft compound flexiform protector. A number of our jackets now also feature a new CE-approved back protector. Light Technology Triumph’s Light Jacket and Vest have been exclusively developed as the latest in visibility clothing for motorcyclists. GENERAL CARE ADVICE FOR YOUR TRIUMPH CLOTHING Leather • Do not allow the leather to dry out. Clean the leather regularly with a mild soapy solution and condition to restore flexibility. • Excessive dryness may cause the leather to crack and the natural fibers to break up, resulting in the leather weakening and becoming damaged. • Always hang the garment using a wide hanger to help maintain the garment’s shape. • Wet or damp leather needs to dry naturally away from a heat source. • In winter, regularly remove any salt deposits with a mild soapy solution and condition once dry.

Textile • Gentle wash on a low heat (max 30°c) without the use of conditioner, bleaches, or brighteners as this can damage the z-liner. • Remove the protectors before washing and ensure that the Velcro fastenings are closed. • Hang dry away from a heat source and do not tumble dry as the excessive heat will damage the z-liner. • All textile riding garments are coated to prevent water soaking in to the fabric. • The coatings act to allow water to run off the fabric without soaking up moisture and preventing the garment from getting heavier and the rider from getting cold. These coatings will wear away over time dependent on the use and weather conditions. • When the coating is wearing away, the garment can be re-coated using a nonsilicone-based treatment that is either available as a spray or as a wash in solution.

Fit It is essential that you ensure your motorcycle jacket and jeans fit properly. Too tight and they could become uncomfortable while riding, not only causing you to lose concentration, but also putting additional strain on the tape-sealed seams of waterproof garments, allowing water to penetrate. Too loose and the clothing could flap while riding and the positioning of the armor may move, which could compromise your safety.

Chest While wearing your Triumph T-shirt, pass a tape measure around your back and under your arms. Take the measurement from the broadest part of the chest. This measurement is equal to the jacket size you require, for example 42" or 104-107cm equals size 42 or Medium jacket. We offer Alpha or Numerical graded fits to cater to the different requirements of our riders. For example, a fully functional winter

garment is Alpha fit to give more flexibility, with detachable liners, when choosing the necessary undergarments. The chest measurements as shown on the size chart show actual jacket measurements, these have taken in to account natural ease for comfort.

Waist Measure around your waist and just above the top of your jeans. Please ensure that you are standing in a comfortable position and do not breathe in, the jeans need to be comfortable while riding.

Hips Measure around the fullest part of your backside and hips.

The garment is designed and constructed to be fully waterproof. Triumph utilizes various techniques to suit all our riding requirements from tape-sealed outer seams, watertight closures, to internal SympaTex® performance or TriTex waterproof, windproof & breathable z-liners.

Windproof fabrics and liners prevent the wind-chill from penetrating the garment.

The connection zippers enable the jacket and jeans to be connected together to keep them securely together while riding. This prevents any riding up of the jacket which could compromise on safety and aids against wind chill.

The base construction of the reflective fabric allows light sources such as car headlights to bounce back off the fabric and illuminate.

TFL is a treatment applied during the dyeing process of dark textiles or leathers. It prevents the dark fabric from absorbing the sunlight and heat in the same way as a light surface, making the outer fabric more comfortable to wear and less likely to overheat.

COMP System

Quadloc-LITE is used on smaller capacity backpacks, where heavy pack loads are not an issue and when the user prefers less harness on the chest.

COMP is the generic name for the waistpack quick adjustment system which allows the waistpack to be easily loosened and rotated around to the front, without having to re-thread any buckles. This feature is unique to Kriega waistpacks and is a very effective USP.
