The cast of very diverse musical talents includes John Legend in the title role, the iconic Alice Cooper as King Herod, and Sara Bareilles — just off her Broadway run in “Waitress,” for which she also composed the score — as Mary Magdalene.
Friday 8 p.m. on KWWL Taken: An ex-reporter threatens to reveal American operatives working overseas in the new episode “Verum Mocet.” Hart (Jennifer Beals) tries to stop the disclosures, which — if they happen — are guaranteed to cause lives to be lost. Clive Standen, Adam Goldberg and Jessica Camacho also star.

Thursday 7 p.m. on FREE Siren: This new supernatural-tinged drama series is set in the placid coastal town of Bristol Cove, which local legend touts as the erstwhile home of mermaids. What may have worked well for the local Chamber of Commerce takes a dark turn, however, when a mysterious beauty (Eline Powell) who calls herself Ryn appears in the town and begins wreaking havoc among its residents. Alex Roe, Ian Verdun, Rena Owen and Fola Evans-Akingbola also star. Another new episode immediately follows.
