In order to be able to continue deserving this trust, our technical team and their groups of Investigation specialists, realise continual investigation activities that are applied to and oriented towards the development of new forms, materials and components. The results have revolutionised the concept of solidity, quality, design durability and shoe wear comfort. These advances would not have been possible without the participation of our clients. The heterogeneous nature and demands of our clients have motivated the diversification of the contents within our investigation, so achieving the highest levels of design, quality and comfort. These said qualities, united together with the physical lightness, resistance and durability of our footwear, have favoured their use in multiple circles. Dockers by Gerli® Safety Footwear “Dockers” means “stevedore”, and the activity to pack cargo is defined as the art of loading and unloading cargo aboard ships in order to transport it with the maximum security for the crew and the ship. The extreme hardness of these tasks and the high demands made on the security material, is our reference point and our source of inspiration. The creation, development and innovation of our footwear are in the hands of our designers, superior technicians and specialised, investigators all of renowned reputations. Furthermore, thousands of our users tell us about their experiences, so participating in an important mission: “build your own safety”not forgetting design, comfort and the durability of the footwear. In order to control and certify your footwear, Dockers by Gerli Safety Footwear has opted for the professionalism and rigor of the Intertek laboratories. This way, we guarantee the maintenance of maximum quality and strict compliance with the current legislation in force, with special reference to the 89/686/CEE Guideline from the Board, 21st December, 1989, about personal protective equipment (PPE).

This legislation demands that the footwear is subjected to extremely hard conditions and high resistance, for professional use as well as private (sport, hobbies and domestic use). The objective of this legislation is to guarantee the safety of the users and the protection of quality, when faced with different risks which are met in each activity. The compliance of this allows the free commercialization of our product throughout the E.U. The footwear Dockers by Gerli® Safety Footwear has been unanimously qualified as “distinct” by the professionals who attended its presentation, at the Düsseldorf FAIR A+A 09. For this reason Area Moda, licensees in Europe and the Middle East, for Dockers by Gerli® Safety Footwear, feel especially proud. However, it is felt that it is necessary to continue “loading”, working hard and improving our art in order to equip our clients in the best, most comfortable and safest way possible. Our objectives are to improve every day and to continue being “different” by attending to your necessities and innovating where necessary to deserve the privilege of holding the position of supplier for safety.

THINSULATE® INSULATION TECHNOLOGY OF WARMTH What makes Thinsulate® Insulation so effective? It’s all in the fibres. Insulation works in two ways: first by trapping air. The more air trapped, the more efficient the insulation. Secondly, by reflecting back the body’s radiant heat. The unique microfibres of Thinsulate® Insulation are about ten times smaller than the fibres of other synthetic insulations, which means they are much more efficient at trapping air and more effective at keeping you warm and comfortable. It also means more fibres can be packed into the same space, where they can reflect back more of the body’s radiant heat.

SYMPATEX® WATERPROOF, WINDPROOF AND BREATHABLE The high-tech membrane from Sympatex® technology is closed and has an hydrophilic membrane system which is 100% windproof and highly breathable. Whereas micro porous membranes contain tiny pores, the structure of the Sympatex® membrane is poreless. In this way, it offers effective protection against water from outside. At the same time, the intelligent membrane structure consists of billions of hydrophilic (water-loving) molecules that expel moisture quickly by way of a physiochemical process. Airflow The innovative fabric structures have a noticeable effect on walking comfort. The rolling movement of the foot causes moist air to be pressed out of the shoe both horizontally and vertically via the shoe’s collar. This creates a pleasant ventilation effect – for noticeably improved comfort every step of the way. Innovative ventilation effect, 100% waterproof, optimal breathability and creative design – Sympatex® Airflow sets new standards.

Breathability The compact membrane ensures maximum breathability based on a physical and chemical principle.The hydrophilic components of the Sympatex® membrane absorb moisture from the body and expel it again through evaporation. This physicochemical effect increases when the membranes get more pronounced. The greater the difference between inside and outside, the more moisture the membrane will transport. This means that its effectiveness increases when required.

SYMPATEX® ENSURES THAT NO RAIN, MUD OR SNOW CAN PERMEATE THROUGH THE FOOTWEAR, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME ALLOWING WATER VAPOUR OUT TO PREVENT ANY BUILD-UP OF MOISTURE. THIS MAKES THE WEARER COMPLETELY “WEATHERPROOF” - IN ALL SITUATIONS

GOODYEAR® CONSTRUCTION DURABLE AND STRONG

NO METAL SYSTEM UNDETECTABLE FOOTWEAR

The benefit of a safety shoe which is produced using Goodyear® welt construction is that the system allows for a constant flow of air to flow through the shoe and keeps the shoe ventilated, durable and strong.

DOCKERS BY GERLI® USES COMPOSITE TOES, NO METAL PLATES AND NO METAL EYELETS SO AS TO MAKE YOUR FOOTWEAR LIGHTER AND UNDETECTABLE BY METAL DETECTOR GATEWAYS.

This process is the traditional method originally used for the manufacture of men’s dress shoes and it takes its name from the inventor who came up with the original hand sewn method. Some of our boots are produced using the exclusive Goodyear® welt construction process. This procedure consists of sewing using a thread that is 12 strands thick, a strip of leather (welt), the leather and the lining altogether with the insole, to which previously a crack is made along its contour where the seam is fixed. Finally the sole is stuck using a high power adhesive and we perform a last sewing by hand below the stripe. When we produce boots with sole leather bottoms, the same one is sewed to the insole through a channel which is, by the end, covered with the same material.

Rubber is water repellent and resistant to alkalies and weak acids. Rubber’s elasticity, toughness, impermeability, adhesiveness, and electrical resistance make it useful as a moulding compound, and an electrical insulator. Rubber has the following advantages: better weathering, higher resistance to oil, solvents, and certain chemicals and resilience over a wider temperature range which complies with our expectations for our two outsoles AM-01 and 1911.

These outsoles AM-02 and AM-03 are made of EVA or phylon mould and Rubber. This combination has good flexible, barrier properties, low-temperature toughness, stress-crack resistance, hot-melt adhesive waterproof properties, flexibility and lightness qualities and resistance to UV radiation.
