PROJECT SCOPE The area of the FIAT will be the chance to provide Turin with a new model of urban life. Dwellings integrated with food production, housing for low income people and immigrants, with agricultural skills; spaces, services and features to let the younger generation reinvent their own way to work; urban farming that opens towards a new economy, including education, documentation, food retailing, agricultural and zoo-technical services.

CONCEPT OF SELFSUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE
Closed self supporting system in maximum extent possible. Energy linked houses to greenhouse. Polyculture biosystem both in the greenhouse and outdoor. Co-housing community system. Co-owning production system. Market, administration, research and education facilities.
THE SITE STORY
. the greenhouse is economically viable in short to middle time period . production of large scale quantities of marketable high quality products . minimizing undesired and difficult labour . flexibility in time and space . support and respond to local food culture . generating education, retial, recreation, social uses, research and development . local production and logistics - minimal transportation . long greenhouse space integrates into landscape - inspiring environment for staff and visitors . integration of outdoor and indoor farming in connection with communities of co-housing linked . co-owning models by local residents
. polyculture - diversity of plant and animal species . natural feedback loops - self - sufficiency and endurance . benefits of natural variations in thermal, lightning and moisture . maximizing productivity per square meter by stacking in time and space . natural ecosystems contribution . production of excess wood and cellulose materials . animals on top of priority - the part of ecosystem

the individual
. greenhouse and fast growing trees create barrier against highway and junction noise and pollution . safe and healthy environment designed inside of greenhouse and in outdoor natural and agricultural corridor . the polyculture brings low or zero use of chemicals . production of healthy and quality food for locals and wide neighbourhood . enjoyment to owners and residents through its role in the community and relevance to the local population . aesthetically pleasing design enriching landscape quality
energy & materials energy
context
space . self-sufficient closed greenhouse connected with linked housing . low or zero materials inputs . rain and waste water conservation in greatest extent . material and energy cycles are closed to greatest extent possible . climate mitigation and adaptation strategies
SYMBIOSIS
DIVERSITY
The concept uses integrated model Symbiosis in design developed by ELSIA (European Lead Sheet Industry Association) with categorization system above.
Keeping diversity in every and each category within the system.
