Duke of Edinburgh

Our Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh groups recently enjoyed a challenging but rewarding trip to the Peak District. Both groups combined their practice and assessed expeditions into a single trip, with Silver walking a mammoth 50miles across some mountainous terrain, in some wet and windy conditions.

Students learned key skills like navigation, camp-craft, and first aid, but more importantly developed key intangible qualities like resilience, empathy, and teamwork. Despite carrying almost 20kg on their backs, students still had the energy for campsite football, and spirits remained high during evening cooks.

The trip was the culmination of a year of hard work committing time to physical activities, skill-based tasks, and volunteering. We look forward to those involved undertaking the next stage of the award, and we invite all those moving into Year 10 to take part next year.
