Festival was held in August , 1980 on Oc"cas Island in the San Juans. 'ft1e San Juans are a ~utiful chain of islands in the PucJet SOUrd . The festival was hosted by Niels and Sidnee Andersen on lancI loaned by R)bert and Meg O::nnocs. It began with a canpfire on August 7th and oontinued through the 10th. Workshops were held by ftiJert Force . Albert d'OstlCHr..> , Neal Hel..1JMn , Balla ~skY . Ji. 9J.crill and many others. (:pen Mlke Night w.lS Q'I the eighth and the CXlnc:ert Night was held ttl the ninth . KG VI this year . was smaller and I!I)re intimate than in ywlrs past . There were new faces . old faces , dirt begirners and Mace- players. ~ festival seemed lIIXe relalCed this year perhaps die to the peaceful nature of the San Juans. Arw:Ither interestinq point was that the general ability of the average Cestival participant has

qott.en nuch better . Neils and Sidnoo outdid themselws this year and did an extraocdinary job with [ocxi and organization . The Kindred Gathering

is intentionally a loosely ocganized phenareron, yet vw[)' year ~ seems to have a last ain.Jte shot of energy and mgically everything falls into place. IOrk crNS aeem.~ to fall in place and at the end of the festival the land was spotless. One supreme highlight of the festival was the cav.ors' and their friends who took all interested dulcirrer players sailing around the Puqet Sound. After days of 'oÂŤ)rkshops . late night perfonM!'lCes and a strenuous garre of volleyball , an afternoon sailing in the sun IIC!eII1Cd just right.
