LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
Staton Cohen
Designed by Staton Cohen architects.
The school wanted a high-quality natural playground that was designed to offer maximum play utility within a tight enclosed space.
The first play area has been designed for older children and installed on a podium slab. The design is based around natural robinia poles with the structure butted up against the building wall to maximise the use of space.

The second play area is designed for younger children and uses a mix of robinia and sawn hardwood. The hardwood climbing frame was built using traditional mortise and tenon joints. The combination of steel shoes and durable hardwood provides a robust and low maintenance playground with a life expectancy of 30 years.
The main contractor was Bowles & Wyer.
