Cllr McGeough welcomes new development in Castlebellingham

SInn Féin Councillor Pearse McGeough has welcomed Kearney’s Building in Castlebellingham being earmarked for development into 6 x 2 bedroom units.

Cllr McGeough said “this building has been an eye sore in the middle of the village for some time now. Within the last 6 months I had to request safety guttering be put along the top of it to catch falling tiles and debris before they hit the pavement and possibly a pedestrian.

“Thankfully, it is now going to be developed into much needed housing and in the form of 2 bedroom units which are in very short supply. It is in the preplanning stage at the minute and that is welcome.

“It will also lift the aesthetics of that part of the village which has become very run-down over the past few years. I want to commend Louth County Council for their pro-action on vacant properties as they have reached
