Blink and you’ll miss him! Sensational Israel breaks another

Sprinting sensation israel Olatunde confirmed his status as the fastest man in ireland as he defended his national indoor 60 metres in a record time of 6.57 seconds. The former Marist student beat paul Hession’s longstanding irish record of 6.61 which had stood for sixteen years.

After the race the twenty year old UCD student, who is in his final year of studying Computer Science with Data Science, had a quick glance at the clock before launching into a wild celebration running back down the track in delight having realised he was now the proud owner of the irish record. Speaking after the race israel credited his coach Daniel Kilgallon for keeping him focused after his rocky start to the season.

“i just came out here to have some fun and give it my all. it’s been a bit of a rocky season so far but my coach just kept me focused and we knew the times would come. And championships are the best times to give the best performance, i’m so happy to do it in front of this crowd here, it’s awesome.” Continued
