A local athlete is facing the ultimate challenge by taking on what has been described as the most grueling and toughest race on the planet. Annagassan man Brian Bell is battling for top spot in the ‘Yukon Arctic Ultra 2014’ and all in an effort to raise money for charity. Brian is in third place at present in the event where competitors must travel 300 miles across the Arctic pulling all their supplies and equipment they need behind them on a pulk. All this is done in temperatures of -30 degrees. 50-year-old Brian, originally from Wexford, has lived in Annagassan for

years and decided to run the race to raise funds for Temple Street Children’s Hospital. A keen extreme athlete, Brian is being sponsored by Pugwash Bay Childcare and Montessori which is owned by his wife Sharon. While most of us were hoping for a mild winter Brian was urging temperatures to plummet as he prepared for the big race by training in the Cooley mountains pulling tyres across the rough terrain. Lorna Clarke, managing director of Pugwash Bay, who is following Brian's journey has expressed her delight with his progress so far and hopes he will complete the race on Friday. Judge wonders why man was pleading guilty Dundalk District Court witnessed a somewhat unusual deviation from the normal course of events when a judge found it difficult to understand why a defendant was pleading guilty to the charges put to him. Judge William Hamill raised the issue after Sean Quigley, Highgrange, Ballymascanlon, Dundalk, pleaded guilty to three hit and run charges arising out of an incident on January 4, 2013. The charges involved

failing to remain at the scene of an accident, failing to give appropriate information and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. However, when the defendant’s barrister, Irene Sands, stated that her client had been unaware of the incident until he was approached by Gardai later that evening, the judge wondered how he could be guilty of the offences. He asked how could the defendant give appropriate information if he didn’t know any-

thing about the incident; how could he be guilty of not reporting the accident if he didn’t know it happened?; and if he didn’t know there was an accident why would he stop? The court heard that at 8.26pm on the date in question Gardai spoke to a pedestrian on Park St who was struck by the rear wheel of a car which left the scene. The suspect, who was driving a very distinctive car, was arrested 40 minutes later at a petrol station.

Insp Brendan Cadden stated that Mr Quigley initially denied driving the car at the time. Ms Sands responded by stating that he was asked about driving only in relation to the incident and as he had been unaware of the incident, he had stated he wasn’t driving. Mr Quigley, made no comment on legal advice when interviewed, stated in court he accepted that he should have said he was driving the car at the time. When Judge Hamill

The Rotary Remembrance Tree has now become an accepted and symbolic part of Christmas in Dundalk each year and we look forward to receiving the public’s continuing support for same when the Spirit of Remembrance is promoted again at this time in the years ahead. Coláiste Rís Sonic Predators gear up for finals A team of enthusiastic Transition Year students from Colaiste Ris are revving up for success after making it through to the regional final of a prestigious world-wide competition. The ‘F1in schools’ team, Sonic Predators, are ecstatic to see that the hard work they have invested in the research and preparation of their racing car was definitely worth it as they made it through to the Regional Finals of the ‘F1 in Schools Technology challenge TM’. The competition is held in Ireland under

the guidance of the Irish Computer Society (I’CS) in partnership with Discover Science and Engineering. Their TY co-ordinator, Ms. Shevlin, describes the work that the team has put in up to this point: “They are a very hardworking group of students who are putting their hearts and souls into the competition.” The qualifying stage consisted of submitting a five page plan on how ‘Sonic Predators’ intended to create their Formula One car. This plan showed their

research and outlined their designs. The competition is open to secondary schools all over Ireland with the primary aim being to design, manufacture and race scale model F1 cars. ‘Sonic Predators’ are looking forward to competing in the regional finals on the March 14 in Griffith College Dublin. The team has put their heads together and are preoccupied with the design of their car, fundraising and sponsorship. If any local businesses are interested in sponsoring the team,

Local rugby star, Robert Kearney, brought a splash of colour to the corridors of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, when he lined out at the installation of a 19 metre Irish rugby artwork of players running through a forest and the announcement of a charity fundraising walk from The Aviva Stadium to Thomond Park. The initiative is a joint effort between Irish Rugby and the Donal Walsh to help launch the walk which will raise money for the Livelife Foundation, The Children’s Medical and Research Foundation Crumlin, and Tralee RFC.

Advertorial

N

ational Learning Network in Dundalk has been providing specialist training since 1983 and has been located at Rampart Road, Dundalk for the past 11 years. There are now four programmes being offered by the Centre in response to a demand for training in the area of specialist rehabilitative and vocational training for learners with physical, mental and intellectual disabilities. The Centre currently caters for over 70 learners. In research carried out there has been a huge increase within the Louth area in people with disabilities. In the 2006 Census Louth had 10,414 people with disabilities, in the last Census (2011) this figure has grown by 53% to 15,932 the equivalent to 14.2% of the county population. These numbers include people with multiple disabilities, the highest proportion being those having difficulty with pain or breathing and physical activities, followed by social anxiety, with 23% having difficulty learning, remembering or concentrating, (Central Statistics Office).

The Centre in Dundalk has grown and adapted over the last 11 years to shape our programmes to suit the needs of these changes. The Centre currently offers FETAC level 3, 4 and 5 programmes .These programmes all facilitate the current labour market trends and needs. Our Fresh Start programme provides a building block at FETAC Level 3, allowing learners to gain real experience in preparation for interview, CV Preparation and practical experience through work experience. This Programme also includes (WRAP) or a Wellness Recovery Action Plan, this element of the programme allows the learner to identify what makes them well, helps notice when things feel off balance in their life and helps them to coordinate ways to get them back to feeling their best. WRAP is suitable to any individual recovering from mental or physical ill-health. Our FETAC Level 4 Programme, Employer Based Training focuses on getting people back into the workplace, some of the

modules on the EBT Programme are Communications, Workplace Safety, Customer Service, Personal & Interpersonal Skills, all moving towards work experience in the learner’s chosen field. Our IT with Office Support Skills Programme which is FETAC Level 5 allows learners to gain certification in modules such as Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database, Bookkeeping and Work Experience. Our Access Programme FETAC Level 2/3 is tailored towards Independent Living Skills through learning and completing modules in Nutrition and Healthy Options, Personal Effectiveness, Career Preparation and Application of Numbers. In the border region there are clear indicators that the wholesale and retail industries are the driving force in employment. This market is represented by 25,200 employees followed by 24,100 people be-

ing employed in industry, (Central Statistics Office). The above statistics have shaped our programmes and we have focused mainly on Retail/Customer Service with an emphasis on Employment Skills. Entry into DKIT, O’Fiach College and Drogheda Institute of Further Education are all progression options for learners. Links between National Learning Network and higher education institutes are continually being developed. What makes National Learning Network different is our ability to offer a person centered approach to training. Support for learners includes instructors support through individual action planning and monthly reviews. Others supports include Rehabilitation Officer and Rehabilitation Physiologist as well as a Resource Teacher and the Centre Manager. National Learning Network has recognised the

vital importance of strong linkage with employers in the local area. In our Centre in Dundalk we have a dedicated Career Officer who works closely with learners across all programmes. The Career Officer facilitates the learner to source a suitable work placement. The Career Officer also liaises with the Employer and offers onsite and telephone support to both the Employer and learner. Feedback is a continuous two way process during the work placement. This aspect of our service has been a major success as it is achieving two goals, the learner is gaining valuable experience on both a work and social level and the Employer is gaining the benefit of the learners valuable ”in house” certification which can be utilised in their place of employment. National Learning Network continues to strive towards delivering train-

ing dedicated to the needs of the individual. Our programmes are constantly being assessed to ensure they meet the needs of the learner and the current labour market. Combined with the extra supports mentioned above this ensures all learners have a positive and progressive outcome. This is clearly represented by our high rates of progression and employment outcomes. Our specialised and highly experienced staff are central to the continued success of National Learning Network, their ability to change and adapt to the variances in programme development and ability to facilitate learners overcome barriers to learning will continue to contribute to the success of National Learning Network. The following are testimonials from students who are currently attending our courses “The most important skill that I have learned so far is to believe in myself “- IT with Office Support Skills Student. “To explain how this course has impacted on

my life would take forever, it has been that positive” Employer Based Training Student “Since this course started I am getting used to a routine again, I’m even starting new activities” Employer Based Training Student “The Centre is very welcoming , it is a friendly place where everyone is treated warmly with respect, all of the staff look at what you have to offer”Fresh Start Student “I’ve made friends in National Learning Network who I am sure will be my friends as I continue my journey into training and education” -FreshStart Student National Learning Network are currently enrolling for Employer Based Training and IT with Office Skills Programmes. Shocked at source of negative comment By Niamh Kirk

Local restaurateur, Victor Graham is fuming after discovering a negative review about his restaurant, Eno Bar and Grill, on tourism website Tripadvisor was submitted by a competing Restaurant owner. The website which is used by mainly hotels and restaurants for promotion, calls on patrons to review their experience. However it has been exploited in the past by competitors and internet trolls out to harm businesses. Last week Eno Bar and Grill noticed a negative review, their first response is always to investigate and tracked back to identify the root of the customers problem.

However on investigation they realised that the review was posted by someone they had known to be another restaurant owner. The restaurant has an in-depth point of sale system that tracks everything that happens at a customer table and they were able to take detailed inspection of the complaint which they completely refute. Not only had staff on the night identified the complainant but other customers in the restaurant had too. Mr Graham said he could not believe that someone in the industry would do that to another. “The chefs call it the brotherhood, they could not believe someone would do this to them. They were seething. There was no indica-

tion that the people in question were dissatisfied on the night, in fact they tipped the staff and thanked them on the way out”, he said. “It was a missile, they were launching a missile at us. I have been 24 years in the business and have never publicly described any other restaurant as bad, it is just not good form”, he added. However the negative review has had the opposite of the desired effect and Eno has been seen a huge wave of support locally. “The people who were in on Saturday night were very supportive. We have had more than 120 comments in response supporting us too”, said Victor. However it is the tourism trade

that is keeping the concerns high for the restaurant owner, Tripadvisor is popular with many overseas travellers and crucially Google search engine directly index reviews on the website. However the review has been reported as being written by a competitor. This is the second time this month Tripadvisor has caused problems for local businesses. Fitzpatricks Restaurant was on the end of a negative review by the same user on the same day, and a few weeks ago a stinging review prompted the owners to cancel future fundraising events. However this too rebounded on the author as Fitzpatricks too was inundated with support.

in Brief Banned For Two Years

A man who bought a cheap car to travel to work in Ashbourne was banned from driving for two years after being convicted of driving without insurance. Joseph Bellew of 6 Doolargy Ave, Muirhevnamor, was stopped by Gardai at Patrick St on June 7 last year. Judge William Hamill imposed a €400 fine and took other matters into account.

Thought Car Was Insured

Sarah Martin of 61 Grange Drive, Muirhevnamor, was stopped by Gardai at Finnabair Industrial Park on April 30, 2013. Solicitor, Peter Lavery, stated that she mistakenly thought she was insured on her boyfriend’s policy. Judge William Hamill imposed a two-year disqualification and a €400 while taking other matters into account.

Dundalk Martial Arts School of Fitness kickstarted 2014 with a trip to Tallaght lat to compete in the TMA Open where a small but dedicated team took on the best in Ireland in this high level competition. Young Ryan Del Duca stepped out with his nunchuckus against World and European Champions and took a coveted 5th position in his musical weapons division. Oisin Brennan, went up against it using his Bo Staff in the older division and succeeded in achieving a bronze medal for his efforts. the senior section. The fighters were up next with most moving into an older age category or experience level this year. Matthew McQuillan made it to the quarter finals in the u15yrs section. The youngest competitor Conor Sharkey stepped out for his first ever competition into the u7s section and after a breathtaking performance, his opponent took the

winning score with a fraction of a second left on the clock. His older brother Ethan Sharkey along with team-mates Dylan Carr, Lee Steele and Conor O Murchu all entered both the continuous and point fighting divisions. In the u9 novice continuous Dylan made it through to the quarter finals narrowly missing out on an award. Both Ethan

and Lee reached the semifinals and earned themselves a bronze trophy each. Conor O Murchu in the u9 advanced division fought through to the finals and in a split decision took the silver position. All four u9s then took on the challenge of point fighting. Ethan, Dylan and Lee all showed great determination however it was not to be their day in this division. Conor O Murchu entered both the intermediate and the advanced division for his age group in order to gain more experience. Conor finished up his day by adding a bronze and another silver to his wins for the day. Chief Instructor Wayne Rutherford is as always very proud of their attempts and their dignity in both wins and defeat.

Drug-related deaths are on the increase By Niamh Kirk

Drug-related deaths shot up during 2011 according to new figures released by the health research board. At the time the area had the highest levels of drug related deaths in Ireland. In total, 41 people died in the North Eastern Region as a result of poisoning by alcohol and/ or other drugs in 2011. It had jumped more than 40% from the previous year when there were 23 drug related deaths. The figures were contained in the National Drug-Related Deaths Index which was released last week by the Health Research Board. The research also looked at the number of deaths among drug users not as a result of poisoning and found that cardiac problems followed by liver diseases were the leading causes.

In both demographics significantly more men than women are dying due to drug abuse. Speaking in the Dail about the Sale of Alcohol Bill Louth TD Gerry Adams said: “These statistics and the numbers of deaths involved must focus the Government on the need for greater investment to improve services, develop effective programmes and save lives.” He commended the North East Regional Drug Task Force saying that they are dedicated activists working hard with inadequate resources to challenge a problem that is getting worse . “Effectively tackling the drug addiction problem requires a holistic approach by all of the statutory bodies, including the Gardaí and local councils and government, and local communities, working to an agreed strategy,“, he said.

Leak raises concerns over Sellafield Dundalk Leader 5th February 2014

By Niamh Kirk

Last week concerns over radiation leaks in British nuclear power plant Sellafield were raised after alarms were triggered over an increase in radon gas levels. The plant has long been a cause of anxiety for many in Co Louth given its location about 180km

north-west of the coast. Dundalk Councillor Mark Dearey responded quickly and that morning called on the Department of the Environment to get assurances from the plant management that they were on top of the problem. The incident began on Friday morning when the plant opera-

Louth woman Irish HomeCare’s Supervisor of the Year

Mary O’Hare from Bellurgan has been announced as Supervisor of the Year by Irish HomeCare. Mary, who supervises the work of carers in the Louth area, received the award for the excellent quality of her work and her commitment to her clients and colleagues. Mary received a one-4-all gift voucher and certificate from Irish HomeCare in recognition of her achievement.

tors told hundreds of non essential staff to stay at home after higher than normal radiation levels was recorded on the site. It was later stated that the elevated levels of radiation were nothing to do with the nuclear operation on site and were caused by naturally occurring background radon. An inspection of the plant

confirmed that the it was operating normally and there was no risk. There have been a number of incidents down the years that have served as reminders that in the event of a serious incident, the area is close enough to suffer from the fallout. The site operators have described the plant as

one of the most challenging and complex in Europe. A report by the Department of the environment published in 2007 took an assessment claimed that there would be absolutely no health risk to Ireland. However the report was criticised for focusing on the potential risk of an incident and failing to prop-

erly address what would actually happen in the event of a serious leak. Cllr Dearey explained that in the case of a serious threat that there is an emergency plan in place which includes in the most drastic cases would involve moving people inland.

Saint Brigid’s festival is a success The celebrations to mark the feast day of St Brigid in Faughart proved a huge attraction once again despite the poor conditions on Saturday. The weather didn’t deter the faithful as many turned up to complete the circuit of prayers, attend the Masses and individual blessings that take place each year.

High tide at the Quay The phrase “a rising tide lifts all boats” was an apt description of events at St George’s Quay, Dundalk, on Friday of last week, as various parts of the country were affected by flooding.

The festival was Fr Tom Griffin’s , first after he arrived in the parish in November from Dublin. He said that the festival was inspiring and said that people had come form as far as Co Clare to receive a blessing on the day. However, earlier that morning parishioners and pilgrims were met with

an unweclome arrival. Co Louth is effectively the dumping ground for diesel smugglers dumping the toxic waste left over from washing die from the fuel. But this weekend the criminals added insult to injury by discarding two IBCs full of the noxious fluid in the St Brigid’s car park on her feast day.

Each year hundreds of people visit the shrine on the first day of spring, February 1, the saint’s official day of celebration. But this year early visitors were greeted with the sight of one of the areas longest running problems. Council workers were quick to respond and removed the waste before it caused any problems.

I still use it a bit but nowhere near as much as I used to. I think there is a lot of competition to Facebook these days and I’d imagine it isn’t as popular as it once was.

I don’t use it much at all. If I do use it it’s just to look at photos or stuff like that. I think a lot of people are using Snapchat instead these days.

I don’t use it at all. I’ve never really got what the fuss is about. I tend to use Twitter for keeping in contact with my friends when I’m at home.

Yeah, I still use it as much as I ever did. It’s great to help keep in touch with old friends and stuff like that. There’s also loads of competitions as well these days which I sometimes enter.

I would still use it to keep in touch with my family and look at pictures of children and grandkids. It’s a very handy resource for doing stuff like that.

Cream of Irish comedy at Spirit Store THE Spirit Store is delighted to announce some of Ireland’s finest comedy acts over the coming weeks and months. The popular venue welcomes back Des Bishop who has been off exploring China for over a year now. Des has sold out many nights in the Store and and Tain Theatre in the past and will prove to be a big attraction once again. He has some fun stories to tell about his time in China such as working in a restaurant in the North East for a month to trying to find a wife in a Marriage park. He will be appearing on Wednesday March 4 with tickets priced at €20. Meanwhile, having sold out his February 1

show, David O’Doherty has added a second date with us on March 2, with tickets already flying out the door for it. And finally, they welcome Foil Arms and Hog for their first ever appearance in the Spirit Store. They are Ireland’s top comedy sketch group. Called “Pure Brilliant” by Tommy Tiernan, the group have starred on RTE’s The Savage Eye. They have over four million hits on Youtube and sold out the Edinburgh comedy festival five years running. Their act is a unique blend of sketch comedy and stand-up with wickedly twisted characters, unpredictable scenes and high energy performances.

Colaiste Lu pupils are set to impress at the TLT

The students of Colaisté Lú in Dundalk are currently rehearsing to be part of the first Louth Meath Education and Training Board Musical Extravaganza. Colaiste Lú are the youngest students in the bicounty event and are delighted to have been chosen to represent Louth at this auspicious event. This is the first time for the majority of the students to perform in the fabulous TLT and definitely one which will not be forgotten. Not that they are strangers to the stage – the cór are due

to perform on Scléip, which is a talent show for gaelscoilleanna on 14th February. Rachel Ní Chanann is the music teacher with Colaiste Lú and is working with the music class to produce something spectacular. The students are keen to prove that while they are the youngest – they are certainly able to rise to the challenge of representing Dundalk. Already they a Cór (Choir) and a Club Ceoil hard at work and are looking forward to showing the 14 other schools in the

Dundalk to Prague MAD Youth theatre is participating in an action packed few days in Prague Czech Republic from February 6 to 9 filled with performances, sightseeing and drama workshops. Those making the trip are Lola Sara Farrell, Ogi Ugonoh, Craig McHugh, Rachael Winters, Steven Jimenez and Andrew Duffy. The Class in Action International Youth Theatre Festival 2014 promotes and encourages the use of English as a tool for international communication and it also encourages native English speakers to communicate effectively with non-native speakers. MADYT are the first Irish youth theatre to ever participate. The senior members of MAD Youth Theatre are excited by this wonderful opportunity and have been working hard the past few weeks devising a short play to perform to their international peers. Their devised play ‘Connor’ looks at the pressures young men faces , issues that are often misguided as being a “man”. If you want to get in touch contact ytfordundalk@gmail.com or call 0860457026. acknowledgment

terry beagan Jnr

March 6th 1970 January 1st 2014 Proleek, Ravensdale, Dundalk Our Darling eldest son Terry Jnr's life came to a tragic end on January 1st 2014 following a road traffic accident. Since then we, Maeve and Terry his parents, sister Joanne, brother Michael, brother in-law Paul and partner Karen have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support we have received from so many people. To the emergency personnel who attended the scene in Ballina we are eternally grateful. We greatly appreciate and remember in a special way Rev Fr P. Murphy, Ravensdale, Fr. P. Montague and Fr. N. O'Donoghue, Holy Redeemer Parish for their pastoral assistance. Fr. Neil's beautiful and uplifting ceremony and the musical contribution by the organist and singers helped us greatly on the day. We will never forget the many, many people who attended the wake

in our home and the funeral mass, some who travelled long distances to pay their respects to Terry. A special big thank you to our neighbours and special friends for their gifts of food and unstinting help during the wake, we couldn't have coped without you. Heartfelt thanks for the mass cards, sympathy cards, letters and phone calls received and the donations made to our chosen charities. Our gratitude to our friend Sean Murphy for all his help with traffic management. Thank you also to Annette, Gerard and the staff at Quinn's Undertakers for their kindness and sensitivity when helping us with the funeral arrangements. Terry's business partner in Loop Studios Gareth posted a very touching tribute on the company website and we appreciate his kind words. Also many of Terry's friends and acquaintances from home and around the world have left such beautiful messages on his social media page, these have helped us to realise how his incredible patience, humility and encouragement have influenced so many people that his all too short life has touched. Our deepest thanks to each and every one from the bottom of our broken hearts. We are so proud to have you as

a son, brother and friend Terry. Thank you for the precious memories forever engraved in our hearts. Month's Mind Mass for Terry R.I.P. will be celebrated in Holy Redeemer Church on Sunday February 16th 2014 at 11.30am.

Looking after ‘Friends In Low Places’

Staunch Garth Brooks fans who camped outside News And Deli on Park Street, Dundalk in order to guarantee their tickets for the concert in Croke Park were grateful to a local business who helped keep them warm.

Black And White Coffee House, located on the Coes Rd, took the opportunity to brighten their day with a delivery of coffee for the dedicated fans. An enthusiastic fan said “I have been camping for over 24 hours, I am a huge fan of

birthday remembrance

adrian skehan

6th February 2014 A birthday rememberance for our beloved Son, Brother, Uncle and friend. Today we celebrate your life gone by, questions of "what if" cloud our thoughts, but what is done cannot be undone. They say life is like a rose garden, the best ones are picked first. Today that feels true, even though our eyes can't see you our hearts will never forget you. We love you today, tomorrow and always.

Garth so I couldn’t miss the opportunity to see him in Croke Park. We have been very cold waiting in line so we were delighted to see

the free coffees arrive’ . The Garth Brooks tickets sold out in under 90 minutes despite an extra date being added.

Getting Value from Your Tyres

Captur the new Clio based crossover

As you drive your kids to school or you are on the motorway in a hurry to make a meeting, all that is between you and the road is 4 tyres. At any one time the area of each tyre making contact with the road is approximatly the size of your hand. So this fact makes it one of the most important things about your car and the safety of you and your passengers. Did you know that on your average family car there are up to 40 moving parts on the front suspension and steering alone ? Any or all these parts will affect the way your tyres wear. Did you know that each wheel on your car rotates over 500 times for every klm travelled? As we are all to aware tyres like everything else have got very expensive, so it is all the more important that you get the maximum amount of wear as possible from them even if you are fitting second hand tyres. The most common problems with uneven tyre wear are: * Incorrect tyre pressure. * Incorrect wheel alignment * Incorrect wheel balancing Tyre Pressure. So How often do you check your tyre pressure? It is recommended to check at least once a month. The correct tyre pressure for you car is listed in the hand book or on the door pillar or inside petrol/ diesel cap.

Renault market the Captur as having the style and driving position of an SUV, the cabin space and versatility of an MPV with the driving experience of a compact hatchback. It is directly targeted at family owners with its practical interior, the rear seat bench slid forward, and including the storage area under its dual height boot floor. Depending on the configuration the 377 litre boot increases to 455 litres. With the rear seats folded it will swallow up to 1,235 litres of cargo.

Wheel Alignment ( tracking). How often should you get wheel alignment checked on your car? It is recommended to check at least once a year. There are several reasons why your wheels may need alignment apart from the uneven tyre wear which can be very visable. The steering may be pulling to one side, there may be worn or damaged steering/ suspension joints. Wheel alignment should be checked immediately after any steering/suspension parts are replaced. Wheel Balancing. How do you know if your wheels need balancing The most common tell tale sign of incorrect wheel balancing is a shake or vibration that comes trough the car at different speeds, you may feel it at 80klm

Motoring Services Guide

and if you go faster it may seem to disappear. This vibration from wheels that need balancing can increase ware and tear on your shocks and other componants on your car and you may end replacing parts that would other wise last a lot longer. How long should tyres last? The mileage /kilometers you get from your tyres can very much depend on how well you look after them. Its not uncommon for tyres to last less than 10,000 miles and not uncommon for tyres to last over 50,000,miles It has been proven that keeping all of the above mentioned in check will improve m.p.g. (km/L). Safe driving. Tom McElarney, Dundalk Wheel Alignment Center, Coes Road Dundalk.

The reversible boot floor not only allows valuables to be hidden away from prying eyes, it’s also, carpeted on one side, with rubber on the other. There is a choice of three engines, all turbocharged – there is all-new 1.2 TCe 120 EDC engine which joins the 0.9 TCe 90 and 1.5 dCi 90 units. The manual transmission models all feature Stop&Start as standard; there will be an EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) version of the dCi 90 later in 2013. There are four trim levels

for the Renault Captur – ‘Expression’, ‘Expression+’, ‘Dynamique Media Nav’ and ‘Dynamique S Media Nav’. Standard Equipment includes 16” alloy wheels, 60/40 split and sliding rear seat bench, body coloured bumpers, cruise control, ECO mode (up to 10% fuel saving), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ETC (Electronic Traction Control), front and rear electric windows, HSA (Hill Start Assist), speed limiter, trip computer.
