J oi n i n the conversation!

Although many people are unaware of it, Satan has a plan for America. He wants us to forget our godly heritage and slowly erase our rich, biblical foundation. We see the signs everywhere, God and prayer have been removed from schools and history books. God has been removed from our government except during times of emergency like September 11. Our Constitution has also been reinterpreted and re-written to change our Founders’ original intent. To take our moral temperature, all you have to do is turn on the television. Our society celebrates doing whatever they think is right, and sin is no longer called sin. The good news is God also has a plan—and His plan is always greater. What is it?

God’s Four-Step Recovery Plan In 2 Chronicles 7:14, the Lord says, “If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.” God gives us four specific things to do: humble, pray, seek, and turn. This is our part of the process. As we do these things, then God will do His part to hear, forgive, and heal. But until we do our part, God will not do His part. The key word in this entire verse is “then.” It makes it clear that our part must be fulfilled before God’s part can be initiated. Continued on Page 8

Embrace Grace Baby Shower

Keith Chandler Journey Christian Church What do you do when you’re in the middle of the fire? Today we’re looking at a faith that’s tested in the lives of three teenage boys named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. King Nebuchadnezzar decides to make a giant statue and tell everyone in the kingdom, “You need to bow down and worship this gold statue,” In Daniel 3:4-6, the herald shouts, “When you hear the sound of the horn… bow to the ground to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s gold statue. Anyone who refuses to obey will be immediately thrown into the blazing furnace.” Everyone is bowing except for three teenage boys. Let me share with you three qualities of faith as we navigate through the fire. 1. Faith obeys God instead of following man. Everyone is bowing. Three boys are standing. The Scriptures say, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, ‘King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter.’” Daniel 3:16 15 year-olds staring down a king and eminent death. They didn’t have to pray, think, or fast about it. They didn’t have to take the dramatic circumstance of their life and post it on social media. They had a predetermined plan, and that was obedience to God. Period. It would be so easy to rationalize compromise. They could have said to each other, “Bow down and pretend you’re worshiping this ridiculous statue. We’ll just fake it. Then tomorrow when we wake up with guilt – we’ll just ask God to forgive us.” How many times do we do that? 2. Faith believes in spite of what it sees. “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. And He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty.” Daniel 3:17 There’s a big difference between God being able to do something in my life, and God

wanting to do something in my life. What He actually does is up to Him. Maybe you’re financially insolvent. # 1. Sell the Sea-Doo. #2. You get a job. #3. You believe God is willing and able to be my Provider. We often allow the circumstances around us to define us. But God is not confined to the things we see. He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than you would ever dare ask Him for. Our faith says that God is with us. What if God doesn’t do what you are believing for Him to do? Because that’s where some of us are living right now. 3. Faithful obedience is our responsibility. The outcome is God’s. I believe God is able and willing… “But even if He doesn’t… we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up. We will do what is right before God, and we will trust Him with the outcome.” Daniel 3:18 We know they’re going to be rescued. They didn’t, but their faith is unwavering. They know the goodness, the power, and the heart of their God. The king orders the furnace be heated seven times hotter than normal. The Bible says the soldiers throwing the boys into the furnace died instantly on the outside of the furnace. “Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished… ‘Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? We see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. ’” Daniel 3:24-25 The Scripture says their robes weren’t even burned. But there was something that did burn. They were thrown into the fire bound… now they are loose. The fire burned that which bound them. Some of you are facing a fire right now –begging God to deliver you from suffering. Perhaps, the very thing you want God to remove from you is the very mechanism God wants to use to set you free? God will use all things to work together for His good. Until next month, Keith 7708 Van Dyke Rd, Odessa 813-920-0442 Services Sunday at 10:00 www.tampajourney.com

Train Up: Readers Are Leaders Denice McClure

Dmclurehawk@aol.com

813-431-8033

Hi, Young People, Congratulations on reading this newspaper! Reading is a lifelong habit that every successful person will agree is a must-have habit. When a young person tells me they love to read, I pause and smile as I think, “There is a future leader.” My friends are all readers. In fact, I can’t think of one friend who doesn’t love to read. I bet your friends are readers too! Do you watch Shark Tank? Can you see yourself selling your idea to Mark Cuban? When I was your age, I was always coming up with wild ideas. It drove my parents crazy. I didn’t know it, but I must have had an entrepreneurial spirit as a kid. If you are still reading this, I bet you do too! The great news is age is not a limitation on making an idea come to life to turn into a profitable business. Last year, 13 year-old Zollipop’s CEO Alina Morse made the cover of Entrepreneur. She got the idea for her company when she was 7. She asked her dad: “Why can’t we make a healthy lollipop that’s good for my teeth so that I can have candy and it wouldn’t be bad for me?” Today she is running a multimillion dollar business. Alina’s dad had the skills to help her. Maybe you are like her yet, have no idea where to begin. No worries! The Proximity Principal by Ken Coleman says we can grow and learn from the people closest to us. I am

sure you have heard your parents say that God had placed people in their lives exactly when they needed them. I can tell you that your parents are right. Through the series Train Up, I’ll introduce you to some people close to me and books I have read that have taught me invaluable lessons of entrepreneurship. There are 22 skills that turned the idea of Florida Power Yoga and Art Slingers into actual places where our vision is alive and felt by our clients every time they walk through our doors. I can pinpoint a person who is the very essence of each skill and became my mentor and they all live within 30 miles of me. It’s the stories from these people I want to share with you so that we can cultivate and polish the entrepreneurial spirit within you. Next month, we’ll learn about how Jeanine McLeod, owner of Cloud Nine Studios in Wesley Chapel, jumped from mechanical engineer to Tampa’s most accomplished child photographer. Your challenge for July: Read Make Your Bed by General William H. McRaven. Ask your parents how you can earn enough money to buy the book. It’s $11.00 on Amazon. The key word is EARN. Print out a calendar for July and mark an “X” every day that you make your bed. On July 31, celebrate your success by enjoying how good it feels to complete such a small task every day!

Summer is Here! Kidz Corner: Vacation Bible School

Hi my name is Harley, and last year I had an experience at VBS and it was called Game On and I loved it! They literally hand out T-shirts, and they had awesome snacks. Last year I remember chatting with my friend and eating a lot of Jell-O! It was so, so, so, so perfect and I literally like everything about Game On, and we had rec, snack, crafts, everything and it was like so, so, so, so, so, so, so perfect. We also had In The Wild this year, and we had more awesome stuff! For snacks, we had shaved ice, we had pops, and almost everything. Then for craft we made bags, rain sticks, and cameras! Rec was just like so perfect! I’m sure that next year will be so, so, so, so, so better. And we also learn about Jesus because He loves us and He died for us and we wouldn’t be here without Him and He is just the main point of our purpose. And also because He loves us, we show love for others and that’s why we do our bags for children in Haiti to reach them for the next generation so that they know about Christ and they can teach their children and their children and so on. Are You Red Cross Ready for Hurricane Season?

It’s officially hurricane season, and NOAA predicts a range of 9-15 named storms in the Atlantic this year. After two consecutive years of devastating hurricanes, the American Red Cross of Central Florida is doing everything it can to maintain a high level of preparedness. Red Cross programs can give your family a great start at becoming preparedness professionals! Here are three steps to take right now: • Make a plan for your household in case you have to evacuate. Practice the plan to minimize confusion and fear during an event. • Build an emergency kit with a gallon of water per person, per day, non-perishable food, a flashlight, battery-powered radio, first aid kit, medications, supplies for an infant if applicable, a multi-purpose tool, personal hygiene items, copies of important papers, cell phone chargers, pet supplies, extra cash, blankets, maps of the area and emergency contact information. • Be informed about your community’s hurricane response plan. Know how you will get important information before, during, and after a disaster strikes. The Red Cross offers a variety of resources to make it easier:

• Download the free Red Cross Emergency App which can help keep you and your loved ones safe with more than 35 different severe weather and emergency alerts. The app can be found in smartphone app stores or by texting “GETEMERGENCY” to 90999. • Take a First Aid and CPR/AED course (redcross.org/takeaclass) so you know what to do in case emergency help is delayed. • Find helpful information, checklists and videos on disaster and emergency preparedness at redcross.org/prepare. Need additional help? That’s why we’re here! Visit us online at redcross.org/centralflorida and follow us on Facebook @RedCrossCentralFlorida and Twitter @RedCrossCFL.

“Say You Saw It In A Dunndeal Publication”

Summertime Dr. Dan Coflin Pastor, River of Life Church As we enter into the hot Florida days of July, we may long for the cooler weather of the past or future months. It seems we all have a tendency to fondly remember an earlier time or carry the hope for something different in the near future. A different time or season almost always seems to be more desirable than the current one we are living in, but we cannot live in the past and our future is yet undetermined. Today is the oldest we’ve ever been and youngest we will ever be, so making the most of today is always a good decision. So what does the Bible say about our “now” season? Here are some scriptures that give us things to know, to do, and to be now. Jesus said, “The hour is coming and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father seeks such to worship him.” (Jn. 4:23). Worship is something we do right now. Worship is acknowledging the one who is worthy of praise. The word praise in relationship to our worship is found many times in the scriptures, and the many different Hebrew words translated “praise” in our English Bibles express specific ways God is to be worshipped. We are to worship God with bended knees, uplifted hands, lying flat on our faces, or even dancing wildly, but regardless of our posture it is worship that comes from a sincere heart that pleases God. The “true worshippers” worship with genuine sincerity, not out of some religious obligation, for our God is worthy of all praise and you can’t praise God in the past or the future, only in the now. “For he says: In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Cor. 6:2).

Here Paul is writing to the church in Corinth and quoting this scripture from Isaiah. Although Paul wrote this nearly 2,000 years ago and was quoting someone who lived more than 700 years before him, he is showing us that salvation (deliverance, preservation, safety, health, rescue) is not in the past or the future but is now. Your relationship with God and His interaction with you are not something to be decided tomorrow or years away, but are in the present. God loves you now, He rescues you now, God saves you, preserves you and helps you right now. Today is the day of salvation. Today is the acceptable time for us to put our faith in God (Heb. 11:1 “Now faith is…”). Somehow, people become convinced that tomorrow will be different, but our faith in God is not to be expressed at some later time. Faith can only be expressed now and it is by faith that we receive from Him. We believe (exercise faith) we receive now when we pray (Mk. 11:22-24). God did not say to wait until you see the answer before you ask, but to ask in faith and you shall see the answer. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” (Rm. 8:1,2 NIV). All of humanity was guilty of sin (breaking God’s laws), but Jesus paid the price God’s justice required, which was death. There was the spiritual law of sin and death, simply meaning that the judgment for sin is death. Jesus willingly suffered under God’s judgment to pay for our sin so now the “spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Rm. 8: 2). I am not going to be better someday. I cannot get more righteous or more acceptable to God tomorrow or 10 years from now than I am today, because I could not make myself better or more acceptable by anything I could ever do. All I can do to change my condition

is to receive what Jesus did for me. I can’t do that someday but only today. Today, I receive Jesus as the Lord of my life. Today I receive his righteousness (Rm. 5:17). Now there is no condemnation against me. Now I am part of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:27). Now I am an ambassador for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20). Our understanding of all Jesus did for us should be continually increasing day-by-day resulting in an ever-increasing gratitude to God for His great love. But our today should be filled with faith and joy and praise to God, because of who He is to us today. “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Ps. 118:24).

Learning to Love

Like Jesus By Joyce Meyer

Imagine for a moment what the world would be like if everyone who calls themselves a Christian would really love others the way Jesus does. There would be no gossip, no judgment or criticism, no exclusive attitudes that make others feel rejected, and people’s needs would be met much more than they are. While that picture might seem far from the way things really are, Jesus gave us very real, practical examples of how we can love the way God loves us.And when we know and experience God’s love for ourselves, we can’t help but share it with others. John 13:1 says Jesus loved them to the last and to the highest degree (AMPC). And in the verses that follow the scripture, He demonstrates what it means to love others in that way. In those days, there were servants who washed people’s feet when they came to visit. It’s likely they were considered the lowliest servants in the household. Now Jesus, the Son of God Himself, got up from the supper, took

the servant’s towel, and proceeded to wash the disciples’ feet. His message to them was to love one another by being a servant. Because God wants his love to flow through us and touch other people’s lives. I want to encourage you to read John 13 and pay close attention to what Jesus did and what he said. Spend some time studying scriptures about God’s love and pray for Him to show you ways you can serve the people in your life. See how many creative ways God puts in your heart to “wash feet.” You’ll probably find it’s easier than you thought it would be to help make someone’s life better. God wants us to have success and enjoy our lives. But He wants us to die to self, get over being the center of our world, and begin to focus on looking for someone who needs our help every day. When you do this, you’ll discover you’re actually more satisfied, content, peaceful, and happy than you’ve ever been in your life! joycemeyer.org

The Great Florida Outdoors: Tarflower Dr. Robert Norman, Clinical Professor, Dermatology, Nova Southeastern University

1. What is this flower? How did it get its name? Where does it normally live? a. Scrub Plum b. Tarflower c. Scrub Buckwheat d. Mock Bishop’s Weed e. Chinese Violet Tarflower (Bejaria racemosa also known as Flyweed, flycatcher family Ericaceae, the blueberry family) is a woody evergreen shrub that occurs naturally in scrub, pine flatwoods, and scrubby flatwoods and prefers dry, sandy soils. The plant grows 4-8’ tall with 2-6’ spread and has whitish undersides of the leaves and dark seed capsules. Tarflower is a native that’s found throughout the Florida Peninsula, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. Studying the Tarflower is a wonderful lesson in ecology. On a sunny June day at Archbold Biological Station, I noted the plant’s fragrant and showy white to pinkish flowers. The plant’s common name derives from these sticky flowers that attract flies, bees, and other insects and then trap them with a glue-like exudate on the backs of its petals. On close inspection, I found a fly stuck on the back of one of its flower petals. The flower back acts as a kind of biological flypaper and researchers have noted that the tarflower’s sticky resin has the same strength as commercially available flypaper (T. Eisner and D. J. Aneshansley 1983).

Perhaps the tarflower traps insects like the fly that only want the sweet fruit and cannot contribute to helping to pollinate the plant. As my naturalist friend Jim Buckner wrote me in an email, the tarflower tries “to keep the selfish thieves out, while not wanting to discourage true pollinators. Some flies can be legitimate pollinators of some plants.” Conserving the intoxicating nectar to only invited guests ensures its survival. Tarflower is noted to bloom in spring to fall but peaks in May and June. They produce a small, sticky capsule-like fruit that’s eaten by some wildlife including birds, butterflies, and bees. What other actions can be seen on these flowers? Walking gently on the surface of a tarflower was a green lynx spider, apparently not susceptible to the adhesive quality of the flowers. In fact, the flower provides an ideal setting for the lynx spider, allowing it plenty of food with little effort on its part. Observing just one flower provides a great lesson in nature and ecology! And the way to see the flower is to get out and enjoy the Great Florida Outdoors! Dr. Norman is an advanced master naturalist graduate of the FMNP program from UF and a board-certified dermatologist based in Tampa and Riverview. He can be reached at 813-880-7546.

Helping Your Kids Master Their Money James H. Willis, III Founder and President The Willis Agency, Inc

813-948-9109 Jim@TheWillisAgency.com www.TheWillisAgency.com 1 Peter 5:7 Okay, okay, so most of your kids are grown, I got that! And so are mine. FYI, 28% of seniors are still subsidizing and supporting their grown children, WOWZERS!!!! This is great information to send your family to learn and share with the grandkids. Ha, they are our favorite anyways, right? Look, somebody must teach our children the responsibility of money. It’s powerful and dangerous as the same time. The schools don’t teach this, the colleges don’t teach this, neither do businesses or churches. Sadly, most families do not prepare their children for the “Huge Financial World” that impacts our daily lives, and I don’t understand why. Personally, I was completely unprepared, and finding myself homeless at 15, reality hit hard and fast, so learning the concept of money and sound financial planning is critical to everyone’s well-being. Today, I would like to share with you 4 very important Financial Trends effecting our youth. Trend #1- Financial Illiteracy. This is the norm among young Americans. A survey conducted by VISA found that 49% of the youth think it is more likely they will become a millionaire by starring on a Reality TV show, than learning how to save and budget wisely. Also, a consumer report survey found that 28% of students didn’t know that credit cards are a form of borrowing and 40% didn’t know the bank charges a percentage rate. If we are going to talk about youth and money, we must add the word WORK. Kids need to learn responsibility and find/get some sort of job. The whole process helps to break the co-dependent process with parents. Trend #2 – Kids and Teens have money and spending influence, and the advertisers and credit card companies come after them. A mar-

ket research report found that in 2013, teens spent $250 billion, an average of $153 weekly. And younger kids directly influenced spending on their behalf to a tune of $174 billion. So yes, they influence the market because moms and dads are all overspending for their children’s wants, not their needs. Parents are literally spending money wastefully therefore taking from their retirement dollars as well. OUCH! Trend #3- Each group apparently presumes someone else is teaching their kids about money and finances. 80% of parents believe that schools provide classes on money management and budgeting. NOPE!!!!! Look, once again, it is up to us, the PARENTS!!! Yes, the buck stops with us parents, and we should not get all caught up with giving them everything they want. Besides being wasteful, it is very disrespectful to parents’ many other needs. Trend #4 - Whether parents like it or not or realize it or not, kids look to them for financial guidance. Listen to this Capital One survey. More than 70% of parents say they have “spoken” with their teen about credit and using a credit card wisely, with less than 44% of the teenagers of those parents say that their parent has talked to them about money or credit cards. Also, most parents are in credit card debt from buying too much stuff. You must get control of your dollars to teach your kids about income, expenses, savings, work, and personal responsibility. Look, it is obvious we are not doing a good job at this because most parents are not doing a good job of this themselves. Proverbs 22:6: “Train your child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” …Or not. Caring for you and yours, Jim

An Act of Kindness: The Good Samaritan Jesus answered, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he travelled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion, came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the host, and said to him, ‘Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.’ Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?” He said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” — Luke 10:30–37, World English Bible

We walk, we drive, and we move on automatic. The same is true with thoughts. If we see the same thing over and over again, our brain puts it into a program and we stop looking. After all, we know what our kitchen looks like. Habits of thought keeps us operating through our day without focusing on our every movement, but is there a down side to this automation? Unfortunately, yes. Many of us wake up, remember who we are, the roles we play and what we have to do today. We brush our teeth, make our coffee, and get dressed in the same way every day without ever paying attention. We drive to work the same way, talk to the same people, feel the same feelings, think the same thoughts, do the same job, drive home the same way, make the same food we usually make, watch the same television programs and go to bed at the same time. Very little changes from day to day. Sometimes we have glimpses of our need to touch a deeper connection to ourselves and our God and we pop up and ask, “Please God, give me abundance and give me prosperity? Please Lord, give me a happier life?” Perhaps He has already given us abundance and prosperity and the ingredients for a happy

life. What if they’ve been there all along and we have been asleep through our days and have missed it? Maybe our thought programs are tuning out His message that’s been all around us. A new program needs to be written and it should follow a basic format. When we wake, and while we’re brushing our teeth and making our coffee, let’s try keeping our attention on things that we are happy about. Look out the window and thank God for the sunrise. Don’t turn on the news. Think about things that make us feel grateful. Let’s decide to see our lives in abundance and prosperity. If someone comes into our mind that we have had conflict with, immediately forgive them. Let it go. Try setting a timer on our phone to go off several times a day to remind us to be happy and grateful. This thought program will give us the wonderful life, growth, and happiness that we seek. Understand that abundance and prosperity are relative anyway. A few years ago, computers were the size of a moving box. The internet was dial-up. Telephones were rotary with long twisted cords that got tangled on everything. There were no mobile phones. Our ancestors in the middle ages had no glass in their windows as they threw their frozen chamberpot out every morning, hopefully missing any passersby below. How abundant and prosperous is your life already? What gifts do you already have? Who loves you and who do you love? What can you thank God for right now? It’s up to you to decide if nothing is a miracle, or if everything is a miracle. Pamela Latour, Ph.D. is a speaker, artist and hypnotherapist. What is Probate? Probate is a court-supervised process for finding and gathering the assets of a deceased person, paying any debts, distributing the remaining assets to beneficiaries, and winding up his or her affairs. If the decedent had a will, it must be deposited with the clerk of the circuit court within 10 days of death. However, the probate process doesn’t begin until a petition is filed, and the decedent’s will has no legal effect until it is admitted to probate by the court. Whether or not there was a will, probate is required to pass ownership of the decedent’s assets to the persons who are entitled to receive them. A personal representative, known elsewhere as “executor,” is appointed by the judge to administer the decedent’s probate estate. Serving as personal representative is a responsible job, and mismanagement of the estate can result in personal liability to the beneficiaries. For this reason, it’s important to consult a probate attorney who can provide legal advice to the personal representative and represent him or her throughout the estate proceedings. Ecoroq Natural Refrigeration

Ecoroq provides natural, environmental solutions for any business using refrigeration. By controlling humidity and bacterial levels, Ecoroq filters assist refrigeration equipment in achieving the best storage conditions faster and more efficiently, according to Ecoroq Sales Executive Lisa Huston. Ecoroq’s proprietary humidity and bacteria control filter technology consists primarily of a multi-sorted natural mineral compound called Guerite, a mineral found in the Mojave Desert. The mineral in the Ecoroq filter attracts contaminated water molecules, which are then filtered through the microscopic, crystalline pores of the minerals, acting as a molecular sieve. Purified water particles then are released back into the refrigerated environment. Guerite is 100% natural, environmentally friendly, and completely recyclable. Filters are serviced monthly by Ecoroq Central Florida’s professional team at an affordable rate. Clients with reach-in and walk-in coolers enjoy reduced costs and increased profit with Ecoroq filters. The product: • Eliminates 80% of airborne mold and bacteria. • Lowers temperature at least 3 degrees. • Keeps produce at peak freshness twice as long. • Get up to seven more pours per keg of beer. • Absorbs odors and prevents crosscontamination. • Keeps refrigeration coils free of debris, which allows them to operate more efficiently. • Removes excess moisture and lowers the risk of work-place injury and workers compensation claims by maintaining dry floors in walk-in coolers. In addition, a third-party study shows a 17% energy reduction and lower carbon footprint for facilities who use the filtration technology. Over the past 17 years, this simple, effective system has gained thousands of satisfied customers worldwide. Some of our customers include Abby’s Health & Nutrition, BallyHoo Grill, Vallarta’s, Brookdale Senior Living, Carrollwood Country Club, Edible Arrangements, Primetime, Tampa Bay Downs, and Tampa Yacht & Country Club. Ecoroq filters come in 3 sizes. The two larger filters are for commercial use. The residential version, Fridge Buddy, is available for home use for $20. For a free two-week, no obligation trial, contact Sales Executive Lisa Huston of Ecoroq Central Florida at 727-515-5909.

1. Because he loves me, ____________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

2. Be still before the Lord ____________________________________________________________ But until we do our part, God will not do His part. The key word in this entire verse is “then.” It makes it clear that our part must be fulfilled before God’s part can be initiated. Our part involves true humility and repentance. We can pray for restoration. However, restoration can’t come until there is revival. Revival can’t come until there is responsibility, responsibility can’t come until there is repentance, and repentance can’t come until we remember. We must remember who we are, where we come from, and why it’s important to be accountable for what God’s given us through our Founding Fathers. We must discover things like: • How was our government formed? • What price was paid for our liberty, and who paid it? • What role did God play in the lives of our Founding Fathers? • What responsibilities did our Founders give us? The Bible says wisdom comes from two sources: the Word of God and life’s experiences (history). If we choose to forget the past, then we lose the wisdom of the past—wisdom that came at a great price. If we forget, then history will inevitably repeat itself, and we’ll once again pay a tremendous price. God wants to use our nation as a beacon of light to shine brightly for Jesus Christ all around the world. Revival or Rescue? On May 7, millions in America observed the 64th Annual National Day of Prayer. It’s an incredible opportunity to come together and focus our eyes on the true Source of our help. However, as we pray, we have to be willing to do what God shows us. I believe a lot of people simply want God to rescue this nation—to solve our problems without requiring any action on our part. However, revival for America includes taking responsibility to do what God shows us to help preserve what our forefathers obtained. In 1787, as Benjamin Franklin exited the Constitutional Convention, a woman shouted from the crowd, “Sir, what have you given us?” Franklin famously responded, “A republic, ma’am, if you can keep it.” What did he mean? A republic means “rule

of law” (our Constitution). This form of government offers the very greatest liberties and freedom—but it also requires the most responsibility, moral virtue, and maintenance to keep it intact. America has gone from a strong, godly nation, ready to fight for our liberties and moral princicples to one that’s complacent, allowing ungodliness to creep in little by little. Evil doesn’t just happen overnight, it happens slowly over time as we fail to fulfill our responsibilities. Not doing what needs to be done in the face of evil encourages its existence and growth. Evil is only denied existence by wise action, and wise action is our responsibility! As Christians, the choice is up to us. We can either stand up and fight or lay down entirely. But we can’t stay the same and expect the direction of our country to change. Worth Fighting For God is waiting for the body of Christ in America to become a courageous body—a group who will stand up and do what He is asking us to do. This is the true meaning of a “patriot.” It involves becoming educated about our past, then taking action for our future. The Lord wants to use our nation, our resources, and our people to once again become a beacon of light to shine brightly for Jesus Christ all around the world. On May 26, Memorial Day, we celebrated those who have allowed our light to shine in years past, an honor all of the servicemen and women who fought for this nation and made the ultimate sacrifice. Today, we continue the fight. However, it’s a battle against misinformation, passivity, and what I refer to as “historical amnesia.” These battles are just as important as any we’ve ever fought. Our generation has the responsibility to protect the precious liberties that brave men and women have sacrificed to protect. Friends, with your help, we can protect them—God has given us the plan. One by one, we can do our part to take a stand for America. As we are faithful to do what we can do, the Lord will be faithful to do what we can’t, and bring healing to our land. joycemeyer.org • (800) 727-9673 The Future of America - Dave Meyer https ://w w w.youtube.com/ watch?v=fWOiGY-lkbo

By David Wilkerson

In these last days, the Lord’s eye is not fixed on world powers but on the church of Jesus Christ. God is not focused on the economy, on the rise of world religions, on the roaring of the heathen. According to Isaiah, the nations are to God “as a drop of a bucket” (Isaiah 40:15). They are all under His sovereign rule and reign. God knows all about terrorist threats, wars and rumors of wars. His Word warns that the heathen will rage, secular powers will try to outlaw Christianity, and fastgrowing, anti-Christ movements will boast they’ll rule the world and destroy Jesus’ followers. The Bible says this about it all: “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us” (Psalm 2:2–3). In short, “Let’s cast away all moral hindrances, all moral landmarks of the past.” Here is God’s reaction to these earthly powers and demon-influenced men: “He that sitteth in the heavens

shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision” (2:4). No matter how desperate things look, everything remains under God’s full control. I’m thankful for this word from the Psalms. More and more, we hear reports of secularism wiping out the evangelical church in Europe; of Islam being the fastest growing religion in the world; of homosexuals hijacking entire denominations; of Christ’s church growing so weak it no longer has any impact on society. Yet God’s Word declares, “On Christ the Rock God will build His church.” “The gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). Nothing from the bowels of hell can hope to destroy Christ’s church. His eye is always on His people, and through everything He warns Satan and his hordes, “Do not touch the apple of My eye.” “Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake” (Isaiah 54:15). Do you see what God is saying here? “The devil is going to come at you. Enemies out of hell will gather together against you. But Satan will not succeed.”

When my personal training career started in this area over 17 years ago, Mark Dunn called me and asked if I wanted to be a part of their paper. I was new in business in this area and knew I had to get my name out there, so this was the first media outlet I had ever advertised in. As people started to hear about what I offered, through THIS paper, my name started to get out in the community, and in a few years I became the #1 producing personal trainer in the large gym I was in, out of 2,000 trainers! When it was time to go out on my own, God used THIS paper to give me the confidence that I could find clients outside of that gym. I knew I must, because I wanted to create an environment for women that didn’t want to be in a gym. That wanted a safe place they could work out and not feel judged. I also enjoy catering to Christian women who liked that our studio cared about that. Now we have trained over 6,000 people, have 17 trainers, won the Small Business of the Year Award by the Chamber, give free seminars to the community, and started a meal prep service delivered to your home. We opened our 5th location in Palm Harbor, and we just moved our Wesley Chapel location into a new building that we own. We also have Land O Lakes, Carrollwood, Westchase, and more to come! I thank God for bringing this paper into my life, and I am SO grateful, for they helped give me the original confidence that I could build this business, and look what its turned into and the amount of people we serve! The owners, Mark and Kay, are some the nicest, most genuine people you’ll ever meet and I appreciate how they honor Jesus Christ in this paper. It’s such a blessing to partner with them, and I’m happy to know that I am the longest advertiser in the last 17 years!
