Our Good Father
Father’s Day is fast approaching. I might be biased, but my father is the best. My parents divorced very early in my life, and my dad was always involved in my life. I remember running around dad’s house as a young child with my superhero cape and superhero underwear, watching my favorite superhero movies with my dad every weekend I was over at his house. I only found out a few years ago in a conversation with him that he really, really disliked them. I asked why he sat through them so many times if he disliked them so much, and he told me, “You
loved them. They were important to you. Because of that, they became important to me.” Actually, I have been blessed for almost my entire life to have not just a father who loves and cares for me, but a stepfather who has never treated me as less than wonderful. Both of my dads have watched out for me, taken care of me, protected me, and loved me completely. No matter what I’ve done or how much of a jerk I’ve been to them at times, I’ve always known I could count on them to be there when I needed them.

Cornerstone Air, Plumbing, and Electrical employees a full staff of trained technicians in every field
When Tampa Bay native Dana Spears* decided to open a business in 2006, she choose air conditioning. But this entrepreneur wasn’t satisfied with only air conditioning and heating. Under her direction, Cornerstone has added plumbing and electrical maintenance/repair to the list of services offered. “We are a one-stop location for all your major home and business systems,” states Dana. Spears has a message for homeowners and other businesses that rely on the services she sells and maintains. “Be aware of relaxed regulations for licensing and bonding.” Under the new laws, startup companies may be underfunded, and this can be costly for you,

the consumer. It isn’t enough to open your doors and hang out a sign. A successful business will have sufficient financial backing and approved credit in order to keep the doors open. After over a decade in business, Spears knows the value of starting strong and building a business. “Do not fear large companies,” she states. Cornerstone carries a 3 million dollar liability insurance policy to protect homeowners and employees. This strong business foundation allows Cornerstone volume buying power and increased manufacturers backing. All Cornerstone employees are field-specific trained rather than cross-trained, so customers get an expert in whatever major system needs, installation repair, or maintenance. All employees in all divisions are covered under licensing, bonding, and insurance. No subcontractors are ever used. Cornerstone has scored the highest ratings on Angie’s List for the last 4 years, along with the Bright House Business Award, and a consistent A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. An accredited rating with the BBB provides an extra safeguard for the homeowner should mediation ever be needed. Dana is a civic-minded business owner and devoted mother of five. She gives back to our communities by supporting local schools and
charities annually while maintaining memberships in all local Chambers of Commerce. Office hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00am until 6:00pm. All calls are answered personally by a dedicated staff member, and same day service is typical. For emergencies and after hours, Cornerstone maintains a 24/7 hotline. Check the website at www.CornerstonePros. com for a full list of services and awards, and then make the only call you need to make at 813948-5282 for complete home maintenance and repair. When You, Then God, Part 2 Keith Chandler, Journey Christian Church
The Bible is filled with these amazing principles God wants to do in our life, but he’s basically saying, “Your move. When you do X, then I will do Y.” God loves you and has a great plan for your life, but you’re going to have to participate. A lot of us are wondering: whose responsibility is it for your life to change? You ever thought about what your answer to that question (because we all have an answer)? It’s God’s: I prayed a prayer, I got baptized, now fix it, God. Make my marriage great. Make my children like me again. Make my bank account full. Make sure the car never breaks down, and the moment it does we say, “God, you’re not there! How come you didn’t fix everything?” Another Idea we have is It’s Mine: I really need to read the Bible more, and pray more and go to church more often. It’s all up to me. Some would say It’s the Church’s: If they’d just offer programs, or do what I heard another church do, then my life would be better. God’s inviting us to participate in his plan for your life. It’s not a solo act. It’s not just on Him, or you, or on the church. It’s a partnership. Salvation requires faith, but blessing requires obedience. God offers unconditional
love, but his blessing is conditional. Throughout the Bible, God says, “We’re going to do it together. You’re going to have to participate.” God says, “If you will pray, then I will heal your land. If you will honor me with your finances, then I will get generous with you. If you will cast all your worries upon me, then I will give you peace.” It’s like renting a car. You keep tuning the radio (but nothing happens). So when you bring the car back to the rental place and the attendant says, “How did you like the satellite radio? What?” He says, “That car has Sirius XM, didn’t you turn it on?” You say, “I had no idea.” He says, “You could have had 200 channels. That would have been fantastic!” That would have been fantastic! You were driving around with this incredible opportunity you didn’t access. A lot of us are going to get to heaven and God’s gonna say; “Before you go in, can I show you a few things I wanted to do in your life, but you were never willing to participate. I was waiting for you to partner with me.” Until next month, Keith www.tampajourney.com
Is Your Body Turning into a Giant Marshmallow? Samantha Taylor Samantha Taylor Fitness I went out to dinner with my dad, who is one of the most amazing people I know. Every time I talk to him, he talks about how he is going to start working out, get serious about his exercise plan, and really do it this time, probably mentions it since he knows that is what I do for my career is help people get into great shape. He has been saying he is going to get fit for many years and it really hit me when I realized he just turned 71. Isn’t that bizarre when your parents start to get older? That is what hit me, he’s getting older and he is not doing anything about his fitness. His blood work is better than it has ever been from eating the way we have shown him, which I am very happy about, yet I am seeing him get softer and more out of shape even though thankfully he only has about 10 lbs. to lose. I always saw my dad as Superman and I still do. He was in the Vietnam War, always did physical labor tasks outside, and owned his own business. And I always saw him with muscles, in good shape and active which probably helped me with my choice to be a trainer. But for a moment I looked at my dad without those Superman goggles on and realized that he is getting older, more out of shape and if he doesn’t do something instead of talk about it, he is going to pay for it big time! I put on my personal trainer hat and expressed my concern for him. I told him how if he didn’t get serious about this, he is only going to get mushier and become like a big
marshmallow! I knew I could raz him a little bit because my dad has always been a jokester. He said, “Noooo, not a marshmallow!” I said, “Yes and if you don’t want me to start to calling you Mr. Marshmallow Man then you had better do something! And if your body turns into mush because you have no more muscles from not exercising, you are going to start losing your independence as you get older.” He exclaimed, “No, not that!” I said, “Yes, do you want to be in a nursing home in ten years? People changing your diapers?” He was aghast, “NO! I never want to lose my independence!” Then he looked more serious. I knew it was NOT what he wanted because he is a very independent man and his mother was 95 and still lived on her own when she passed away. He got a more serious look on his face, “No, that is not what I want. Okay, I am serious. Wait till you see me next time!” I said, “Dad, you said that last time I saw you, you need a plan, not just talk.” He said, “No, I am really going to do something this time.” So we put a plan together for him. I challenged him to work out at least two times a week and he has been doing it! He lost 10 lbs. and just went to the gym this morning. I love him so much and am grateful for him and I don’t want to start seeing his body fall apart because he didn’t take care of it. I encourage you to inspire your family to do the same and if you are able to share this article with your own father, do so. “I love you, Dad, and want you to live a long, healthy life!” For the ladies, if you want help stopping your body from turning into a giant squishy marshmallow, go here to set a time to meet with me: www.SamanthaTaylorFitness.com.

Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller Earns National Achievement Award
The Office of Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller has been recognized with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that enhance services for residents. NACo recognized All American Youth Art Walk in the category of Children and Youth. The program, in its second year, turned the public halls of Pasco’s east- and west-side courthouses into eye-pleasing galleries celebrating the talents of the county’s public school student artists. “The Art Walk has been an important labor of love for all those involved,” said Paula S. O’Neil, Ph.D., Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller. “The benefits of making sure the arts are part of every young person’s life are clear and unmistakable, and we are grateful to our partners – Pasco County Schools and the Florida West Coast Credit Union – for helping us bring it all together.” The brainchild of Clerk & Comptroller Administrative Assistant Laurie Ansorge, the Art Walk has, in just two years, attracted 262 pieces from 246 student artists representing 24 schools.
“Youth art is so rewarding, it brings us back to our core, replenishing our soul, and reminding us of where we once stood,” Ansorge said. “It exemplifies the importance of art at an early age, and opens the window of self-expression and creativity.” “Showcasing youth art enhances our lives, while giving joy, appreciation, and pride to our communities, to our country, and to our youth – our future leaders. It is my hope that art education remains an integral part of our school curriculum, it’s so important.” Pasco Schools Superintendent Kurt Browning agrees. “Art is important to a well-rounded education,” Browning said, “so the Pasco School Board and I welcome the opportunity to enhance our students’ exposure to the arts by partnering with Clerk and Comptroller Paula O’Neil for the All American Youth Art Walk.” In March and early April, in conjunction with Youth Art Month, O’Neil, Ansorge and their partners hosted receptions at each of the gallery/courthouses for student artists, their families, teachers, dignitaries, and art aficionados. Highlighting the events: performances by high school musical groups, reaffirming Pas-
co County’s commitment to art that reaches beyond the canvas. “Counties overcome complex challenges, provide essential services and constantly do more with less,” said NACo President Bryan Desloge. “We applaud these Achievement Award-winning counties for outstanding efforts to improve residents’ quality of life.” That effort is ongoing. Artwork changes out with the turn of the calendar, but invitations to contribute are issued at the start of the new school year. Even now, Ansorge is gearing up for another season of recruiting budding artists and their teachers for the 2018 All American Youth Art Walk. Nationally, NACo awards are given in 18 different categories that reflect the vast, comprehensive services counties provide. The categories include children and youth, criminal justice, county administration, information technology, health, civic engagement and many more. This marks the 10th time the Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller’s Office has earned NACo honors.
NACo will recognize award-winning counties at its 2017 Annual Conference and Exposition July 21–24 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. Started in 1970, NACo’s annual Achievement Award Program is designed to recognize innovative county government programs. Each nominee is judged on its merits and not against other applications received.

What Does The Bible Say About Investing? James H. Willis, III Founder and President The Willis Agency, Inc 813-948-9109 Jim@TheWillisAgency.com www.TheWillisAgency.com 1 Peter 5:7 A bunch, believe it or not. It’s a major theme throughout the entire Bible. Spiritually speaking, the Bible has a great deal to say about investments and investment decisionmaking. For example, we need to be aware of five things in our decision process. First is diversification, second is our long time horizon, third is what our professional counsel may suggest, fourth is asking what are our motives, and fifth is your personal perspective on things. Next, we need to always be aware of the investment world’s larger picture. Investments are a tool and not an end in themselves. Here are the four universal “Big Pictures”. 1) Economic uncertainty is always certain—isn’t that true! 2) Economic prosperity is certain only in retrospect. All the education and experience is still uncertain. 3) Economic cycles (ups and downs) are normal, and to ignore them is foolish and dangerous. 4) The future cannot be predicted, we just don’t know what we don’t know. When you and I are looking at investing, we should be aware of some of the quantitative variables that affect our objectives. They are our age, our temperament, our situation, the financial climate, and the timing of income and cash flow. When we are looking for options, they are not found in company names per say, but in classes and periods. For example, by time period, the dollar cost averaging, or by asset class—in allocation or by specific investment
desires and even in geography—parts of the country or world and lastly, having professional help. Personally, at the Willis Agency, we specifically focus on the preservation phase of money. Long ago we realized that we were working with many retired people and they just didn’t want that roller coaster ride of the ups and downs with their life savings anymore. I also found that everybody talks about making money, but few show how to keep your money. At the Willis Agency, that’s what we do, we show people how to keep their money. I just never wanted to be that guy who you call on Monday and say, “What happened to all of my money?” I just do not like that scenario. We also have a concept of having your money match your age. So, all my customers can say that they have never lost one dime of money, ever! If you want to find out how to never lose money again and how to have your money last as long as you do, give the office a call to set up an appointment at 813-948-9109. In conclusion, I have listed several verses for your review. Prov. 24:27, Prov. 28:20, Luke 14:28, Prov. 6:6-8, Ecc. 11:1-2, Prov. 15:16, II Peter 3:4, James 1:5, Heb 11:6, Prov 4:20-27. Caring for you and yours, Jim

As Father’s Day comes near, remember that we serve a God who fulfills all of these needs for us. We don’t have to walk this world and face our troubles alone. We have the support of an all-knowing, allencompassing parent whose only wish is that we become the best people we can be.

Give Up? By Mike Holm
“Jesus told them a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” (Luke 18:1-8) Jesus could have been a master playwright! Fortunately for us, He had an infinitely greater mission. In Luke 18, He taught His disciples by means of a one-act drama. He might have named it, “Give Up?” He set the scene with three characters. Enter stage right:. “There was a widow.” The Bible talks of two kinds of widows. One is the “widow indeed.” She lacks older sons or near kin to help her. Since ours is self-advocating, this is her situation. Losing a husband in first century patriarchal Israel was a social and economic tragedy. Widowhood connoted images of a marginal existence at best and extreme poverty at worst. They were prime targets for exploitation. Should an unscrupulous scoundrel get hot on her trail, a widow was vulnerable to losing her family property, having debt repayment terms unfairly altered, and being taken advantage of in a myriad of other ways. Ours was the target of such injustice. Enter state left: “There was a judge.”
To greatly aggravate her plight, Jesus told us the local judiciary was entirely corrupt. Her one hope against losing it all to a wicked neighbor rested with a town judge whose character Jesus masterfully summarized by the use of just two short phrases: “He neither feared God, nor cared about men.” This means he possessed a total lack of concern for the day of judgement (an intellectual atheist) and a complete absence of regard for anyone but himself (a practical narcissist). “She kept coming to him.” There were three factors in her case. Two stood against her. Someone was trying to take advantage of her. That’s bad. And the only person who could help her didn’t have any motivation or interest in doing it. The third factor overcame the first two. She had faith. Faith is spelled p-e-r-s-i-s-t-e-n-c-e. Factor one is the same for us. We face matters too big for us. But for us, factor two is entirely in our favor! The only One who can help us is entirely good, perfectly able, and longs to answer our petitions! “For some time, he refused.” The “he” does NOT represent God in this
story! God loves you! He is perfectly just! He is altogether gracious and merciful always! He is infinite in power to help! He longs to bless you! And He LOVES to hear you call upon His name! Do you still believe that, Christian? Do you believe when, “for some time,” you don’t have what you asked of Him? His delays are not refusals! And they are for reasons NEVER owing to His disinterest or unfaithfulness. Don’t give up, Christian! “But finally he said, ‘I will see that she gets justice.’” Jesus did not say prayer is asking and asking. He said it was asking and receiving. He did not say it was seeking and seeking. He said it was seeking and finding. He did not say it was knocking and knocking. He said it was knocking and having a door opened for us. Persistent, trusting prayer in Jesus’ name (not selfish prayer, but God-honoring prayer) will always be answered in the affirmative by God. God said it. That settles it. I believe it. “Listen to what the unjust judge says.” If a judge with no regard for God or man would grant this woman’s petition simply on
the grounds of her wearing him out by her persistent coming, will not God? Will God not help you? Yes! He will! Will He keep putting you off? No! He won’t! In fact, He will see that you get what you have asked of Him and quickly, Jesus said! “However, when the Son of Man returns, will he find faith on the Earth?” With such plain teaching, surely Heaven must be asking again, “Who hath believed our report?” The answer to that is unmistakable. Those who seek God persistently in prayer! Those who make sure there are strong prayer meetings in their churches and in our area! Those who shut their doors and pray fervently to our Father in secret! These and only these believe it! But, if the Son of Man returns this week, will He find this kind of faith in our town? His question, not mine. Nothing honors and pleases God more than our faith in Him and His promises, a faith demonstrated by persistent, believing prayer. ‘Til we finish the race, Pastor Mike
“Jesus said ‘Jesus said ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.’” — John 14:6-7
