Canines for Christ

Canines for Christ brings joy to patients and volunteers by sharing God’s love. The animal therapy ministry visits people in cancer centers, children’s homes, nursing homes, hospitals, prison ministries, and other places where people are in need of God’s comforting words and the unconditional love and affection dogs bring. Animal therapy is known to lessen the effects of depression, lower anxiety, lower blood pressure, improve cardiovascular health, and even release endorphins that have a calming effect. The rhythmic movement of petting an animal can aid in therapy, producing an automatic response. When the volunteers are visiting, the patients receive the added blessing of communication, reducing their loneliness and boredom that can happen with extended stays in hospitals. The visits help to

When planning your trip this summer, it can be overwhelming to find a safe, comfortable place for your pet. Royal Pets Market and Resort (“the resort”) has three convenient locations, Carrollwood, St. Petersburg, and Palm Harbor. While you are enjoying your getaway, you will find comfort in knowing your pet is enjoying their own little retreat. The resort offers clean, comfortable suites for your pet that include cozy beds with flat screen TV’s. For overnight guests, a concierge is on-site 24 hours per day. Rates

start as low as $29 per day. Air-conditioned dog parks feature bridges for the dogs to run across or to lounge on with their friends. Padded synthetic turf covers the floors and is easier on the dogs’ joints to reduce the chance of any soreness after playing. The dogs are supervised continuously by the friendly, knowledgeable staff to ensure the safety of all the guests. Kay Dunn recently brought her pets—Mighty Mouse, a 12-year old lab/beagle mix, and Underdog, a 7-year old lab/bull dog mix—to the

resort. Due to his advanced age, Mighty Mouse is required to take medication, has hearing loss, and his eyesight is not what it used to be. He has difficulty trying to find his food bowl and doesn’t eat well. Bri, one of the caring staff members, reassured Kay that he would be given his medication and would be monitored to ensure he was eating properly. “The staff treats the animals as if they were their own pets,” Kay said. The dogs shared a suite with a doggy door to their own private back yard. When Kay and her husband Mark returned from their trip to pick up their dogs, they were delighted to see that the dogs were relaxed and comfortable. “They acted like they didn’t even miss us!” Kay said. If you are interested in Doggie Day Camp, your pet can enjoy playing with other dogs in the grassed play yards. Camp is open from 9am – 5pm, but early drop off and pick up is available. Late pickup is available for an additional fee. Cat lovers, don’t fret! Your fur baby has not been overlooked. Cats can relax in their own private condo and play in a jungle-themed room. The cost is $15 per day and $10 for an additional cat in the same room. For added peace of mind, pet owners can watch their pets over the web with a secured guest cam. For more information about additional services offered at the resort, including grooming and veterinary services, go to www. royalpetsmarket.com.

When/Then: An Unshakeable Life Keith Chandler, Journey Christian Church

In Matthew 7, Jesus talks about building two houses. One builds on sand and as soon as the tide comes in, there goes the house. The next guy builds it on rock. It was very difficult to build on rock. It took time, effort, and patience, but if you did it it paid off. Jesus says when you build on the rock, then God will give you an unshakeable life. Here’s what that means for us. There will be moments when storms come. There will be moments of crisis. But you will not be crushed because your life is built on the rock. There will be moments you feel lonely, times when you feel like no one gets you. Maybe times you feel alone because your parents have died. But here’s what Jesus says. When you have built on the rock, you always have a good father and you’re never alone. Your life is built on the unshakeable rock of God. When you do that, then God builds an unshakeable life in you. And that’s something all of us want. The question is, how do we do that? It has a lot to do with golf (some of you just woke up). I was stunned to discover all my years playing putt-putt with a windmill and a clown’s mouth didn’t prepare me for golf. The perfect golf swing has countless steps before you

swing the club. But I’m going to boil it down to two things to advance a ball. You have to have a backswing and a follow through. In this passage, Jesus tells us how to get an unshakable life. It’s as simple as a backswing and a follow through. “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24 Jesus says, “Hear these words of mine and put them into practice.” Love God, and love people. When you do that, then God will build an unshakeable life for you. Isn’t that what we all want? Spiritual Maturity is directly related to the length of time between hearing the word of God and doing it. It’s not about how much you know, or how many years you’ve gone to church. It’s about have you heard it, and have you done it? So let me ask you, when you hear about forgiveness, how long does it take for you to do that? Because Jesus says hear the word of God and do it. Then you build an unshakeable life. Until next month, Keith 7708 Van Dyke Rd. Odessa 10am www.tampajourney.com

belle âme Day Spa & Salon By Karen McBride

belle âme Day Spa & Salon is the vision of Lisa Huston. She opened the spa after leaving a stressful job in the information technology management field. Her body was feeling the effects from the stress, and she began going to massage therapy to ease the pain. The results far outweighed the benefits she received from standard medical treatments. Huston knew she wanted to help others relieve their pain and live healthier lives, so she opened Belle Âme, which means “beautiful soul”. The skilled professionals at the spa use organic, natural products to help both women and men to relax, destress, and feel pampered. A variety of massages are offered, each with its own special benefits. Chair Massage helps to eliminate tension in the neck, arms, back, and shoulders. A special chair is used where the face rests in a cradle. The therapist will use Swedish massage techniques, such as kneading and compression. Swedish Massage is a relaxing massage that increases oxygen flow and releases toxins from muscles. The massage is done with long flowing strokes in the direction of the heart, kneading, and circular motions. A Deep Tissue Massage is more intense,

focusing on deep layers of muscle and connective tissue. This technique is used for people with painful muscles, posture problems or those recovering from an injury. For people that exercise often, a Sports Massage may be the best therapy. It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility. With Hot Stone Therapy, smooth stones are heated and placed on shoulders and back muscles to increase circulation and loosen muscles. Hot Stone massages help people with muscle tension in their backs. In addition to different types of massage therapy, body wraps, manicures, pedicures, facials, and other services, the spa offers pulsed electromagnetic field (“PEMF”) treatments. The medical device produces unique frequencies that are used to regenerate cells.

His love for serving the Lord inspired Randolph to start Canines for Christ in July 2007. At the time, he did not own a dog but took a step out in faith and borrowed his daughter’s dog to start the ministry. It has spread across the United States and has grown to over 300 volunteers in the Tampa Bay region. The teams visits over 60 centers in the area including Brighton Gardens, Connerton Court New Tampa, Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, John Knox Village, James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, Magnolia Manor Assisted Living, Shriners Hospital for Children, Hope Lodge at Moffitt Cancer Center, and Juveniles for Jesus Prison Ministries. If you are looking for a way to serve the Lord and are interested in becoming a volunteer, you must complete an application, have a certificate of health completed by your veterinarian, provide the AKC Canine Good Citizen or Therapy Dog Certification, and sign a liability waiver. Dogs must be two years old to enter the ministry, well-mannered, and non-aggressive. Reflections Dr. Dan Coflin Pastor, River of Life Church Who do you see when you look in the mirror? The answer should be obvious: “myself.” But how do you see yourself? Some people concentrate on the body they see reflected and comment, usually out loud, “I’m too short, too tall, too fat, too thin, too young or too old. My ears are too big, my nose is too long, my hair should be a different color or it’s too short, it’s too long, or it’s too gone.” It seems we are seldom satisfied with our appearance. Far more important than how we estimate our physical shortcomings or imperfections is how we see the person who is looking back at us in the mirror. We have a tendency to look at our shortcomings and failures instead of our strengths and victories. We could all rehearse times past when we said the wrong thing or acted foolishly or responded out of anger or hurt. Those times we may have been less than honest, when our actions or words wounded others or brought lasting hardship to someone else. I’m certain you may recall times when you sinned willfully just because you wanted to, without any regard for future consequences. So many times those failures are what people see in their reflection. Their image is distorted by what they did wrong or failed to do right. But, what if you could see yourself as God sees you? That is a terrifying thought for many people who only see God as a vengeful judge, a God who is focused on sin and punishment. It is true that God’s judgment is on sin, but the one who received God’s judgment for sin has fully paid the price. He died,

taking the full force of God’s judgment upon himself and that judgment satisfied God’s justice for all eternity (2 Cor. 5:20, 21). Last year, a song by the group “For King and Country,” was made popular on many Christian radio stations. The title of the song is ‘Priceless’ and it speaks of how God sees you. “I see you dressed in white; Every wrong made right; I see a rose in bloom; At the sight of you; Oh, so priceless. Irreplaceable, unmistakable, incomparable; Darling, it’s beautiful; I see it all in you; Oh, so priceless.” Can you believe this is how God sees you? Perfect and without blemish, one who has been made accepted as God’s beloved (Col. 2:10; Eph. 1:6). You see when Jesus was on the cross he willingly received your judgment for your sin. He died for you. The fact he rose again shows God’s complete satisfaction in his sacrifice. Your sinless perfection is not determined by what you have done or have failed to do, but only determined by what Jesus did for you and whether or not you have received the pardon and forgiveness he offers. If you receive Jesus, then God is at work in you, helping you to willingly do his good pleasure (Phi. 3:13). Then you can look in the mirror and see past the temporary and into eternity. Dr. Dan Coflin and his wife Dianne are copastors of River of Life Church in Lutz, FL. 410 Chapman Rd. Successful Retirement James H. Willis, III Founder and President The Willis Agency, Inc 813-948-9109 Jim@TheWillisAgency.com www.TheWillisAgency.com 1 Peter 5:7 There are Bulls and Bears—there are always people on both sides of the equation. Maybe, some are being positive and others negative we would say. Or, there are those that seem to always see the “silver lining” and those that see or feel the dark cloud coming. Who knows, perhaps they are both right? I would like to share some ideas or Big Picture concepts that should be helpful for you to make better decisions in your retirement planning. My personal convictions do mirror that of Ron Blue (material in our Kingdom Advisor Core Training). We begin that economic uncertainty is certain. Simply put, it means money, business, and investments are affected all the time, we just don’t know how, when, or where. Next, economic cycles are normal. Yes, we will have economic ups and downs and we should plan for both. The future cannot be predicted. We can show you the past, but there is no real certainty for the future. Now we need to understand that investments are a tool one uses to accomplish financial objectives. They are not an end in themselves. Many things may have “investment value” but they are not in reality an investment, like our “Fixed Index Annuities” guaranteed principal and lifetime income guaranteed.

Next, there are the three phases of money; Accumulation, Preservation, and Speculation. Note that one accumulates wealth by spending less than they earn over a long period of time. You may want to re-read that statement. The one who preserves wealth accomplishes this by following the Biblical principles of diversification. Also, investment speculation should only be done after asking a few questions; “What would God want me to do with extra money?” and/or “Can I afford to lose it?” Finally, having my Biblical principles influence my use of money has proven to be a wise decision. To get the specifics for your situation and needs, contact a professional. Give the Willis Agency a call. We have been helping people just like you since 1988. Caring for you and yours, Jim Here are some verses for reference: Proverbs 28:22: “He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.” Proverbs 22:7: “The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” Proverbs 6:6-8, 2 Peter 3:4b, Ecc. 11:1-2, Proverbs 9:20-21, Phil. 4:6-7

Thank You, Dad, For Serving Our Country Samantha Taylor Samantha Taylor Fitness I want to thank all of the people that served this country and express compassion for the people have that lost loved ones during this process. I want to also thank my Dad for serving this country in Vietnam who as in the 101st Airborne Division that would skydive into the jungle in the middle of the night, I can’t even imagine the intensity of that! I am grateful we got to celebrate Father’s day together for I appreciate that he has been such a great influence in my life. He is always happy, so positive and just happy to be alive. As a kid, he would make us listen to motivational tapes in the car when I was only 10! Back then we hated it and yes 33 years ago, we listened to tapes! When I look at who I am today, I see so much of my personality from my dad. Even after almost dying in Vietnam, he came back and focused on what was positive about life. He knew he could either let that experience destroy him or become better from it. He never used circumstances as an excuse to not succeed. He started many businesses and I remember for the last 30 years, he always talked about his dream of owning a sailboat. He knew exactly how much money he needed to save to get this boat because he wanted to sail to the Bahamas a few times a year. The amazing thing is he just retired last year at age 70 and got his dream boat! He

and his wife sailed to the Bahama’s for 3 months and they just got back. We recently got to enjoy a boat ride to a small island and had lunch. It was neat being on the boat, floating through the ocean on his dream made reality! It was so amazing watching dolphins in the water and seeing big puffy white clouds floating through the blue sky. it was such a beautiful day! You might have read my last article about my dad and the conversation we had a few years back of how he was “turning into a marshmallow” because he wasn’t taking his health and fitness seriously (you can see the article on this paper’s website). He finally listened to his daughter and he got more serious and look at him now! I am so proud of him! “Thank you, Dad, for being such a great example to me, for you have helped me become who I am today. The fighter it took in you to serve our country has rubbed off on me in my life too and now many communities and people are also being impacted!” So much so that we just opened our 4th location in Westchase! By getting his dream boat, he taught me that if you want great things in life, we need to plan for them. You don’t just get them, many times they are earned. That also applies to a healthy and fit body! I can help you find that fight within you so you don’t turn into a marshmallow either. Learn how to age gracefully and live your life! We have a seminar on hormones coming up too, see our ad in this paper. For a free Body Transformation Analysis, go here: www.SamanthaTaylorFitness.com.

“Say You Saw It In A Dunndeal Publication”

Next Leadership Association By Karen McBride

Next Leadership Association (“NLA”) is a ministry that provides credentials, counseling, and coordination to pastors across the world. Danny Thomas became the president of NLA in 2012 at the encouragement of his friend. His friend was the leader and was called into other areas of ministry. He knew that Thomas would be a good leader and asked if he would be his successor. Thomas had just lost his wife and felt God’s calling in taking over the ministry. “God told me it was time to ‘write a new book, and start a new chapter,’” said Thomas. So he took that step in faith and took over the reins as the president of NLA. The ministry is currently serving 100 pastors. When pastors come to NLA, they are in need of guidance. The first step is to help the pastor to gain the required credentials to become ordained ministers. Once the educational process is completed, NLA helps the pastor to start a church. One of the main reasons churches fail is due to the leader not having guidance and a place to turn to for counseling. NLA provides these services to help further God’s kingdom. NLA is opening a Bible college in Kenya in September 2017. The pastors in the area don’t have any formal training, so NLA will train the pastors and guide them on how to start and run a church. In addition to supporting pastors, NLA

works with other ministries. In January 2016, NLA partnered with Water for the World ministries. Water for the World NLA provides Biosand filtration systems to locals in other countries in orphanages, schools, hospitals, AIDS colonies, and missions compounds to provide fresh drinking water. The filtration system requires sand, gravel, and gravity. Studies have shown the Biosand filter can remove more than 90% of bacteria and 100% of parasites. In 2017, Water for World will provide clean, filtered water to one million people. Thomas supports the ministries by raising money from his speaking engagements. He is going to be in the Tampa area from July 19-21. On Wednesday, July 19 at 10:00am, he will be speaking at Shiloh Farm Retreat, 16050 Glass Lake Drive, Odessa, FL 33556. On Thursday, July 20 at 7:30pm, he will be at Socrates Studio, 627 Cleveland Street, Clearwater, FL 33755. For more information about Thomas’ speaking engagements, call Ron Lowrie at 509-856-4049. Be sure to check our Facebook page for updates on the events at https://www.facebook.com/DunndealGazettesPublications. Revival: Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, Pt. 1 The Greatest Desire of Jesus For His Church By Mike Holm, Pastor of Calvary Chapel

“I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!” (Luke 12:49) Three statements in the New Testament summarize why Jesus was sent into the world. First, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10). Second, “The reason the Son of Man appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” (I John 3:8). And third, “I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!” (Luke 12:49). These are simply three aspects of Jesus’ single purpose. To advance number one (the seeking and saving of the lost), Jesus strongly desires to do number three (pour the Holy Spirit out on His Church). To realize objective two (free us from the devil’s works—i.e., sin), number three must first occur in our lives (be soundly saved). These are three aspects of Jesus’ one purpose in coming into the world. This third aspect is our focus. For over 100 years, most of us Christians in the west have been largely demotivated or sporadic at best about the first thing (evangelism—seeking

July 2017

to get people saved), because even where the first thing is stressed, it usually isn’t emphasized first that we absolutely need the third thing (empowerment—an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our lives). As a result, far too little of the second thing (deliverance from a life of sin) has occurred by means of the sporadic programmatic, powerless, man-dependent approaches we’ve taken to the first thing (evangelism). On one occasion, after He died and rose again, while He was eating with them, Jesus told His disciples, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift My Father promised, which you have heard Me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days, you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 1:4-5). A small church of 120 took that command to heart. Rather then seek to do things on their own strength, they first began to seek the Lord for more of Him in their lives—more love, more power, more passion. In short, for what many before us in America came to call revival. What resulted? That little church was

made almost inconceivably effectual in pursuing thing one (seeking and saving the lost). In fact, the record shows they multiplied in size by 26 times in a single day—from a body of 120 believers to a body of 3,120. For every one who was filled, empowered, and radically revived by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, 25 others were added just that day. And the impact was not mere “church growth.” It was true salvations. Lives radically changed. People powerfully delivered. Effects that no church growth plans or programs could bring about. Peace and joy, deliverance from life-controlling sins, love for God and for others—these and many things like them were the byproduct of the first Jesus people obeying His command to wait in faith to receive what He promised to do for them if they would—empower their lives by means of the Holy Spirit (see, Acts 1:8). Remember our text, “I came to bring fire on the earth!” Some say Jesus was talking about the fire of judgment. No way! Here’s why. He also said, “...and how I wish it were already kindled.” The Greek word there is, thel. It is means, “to will or intend; to love,

and to take delight and pleasure in.” Never in scripture do we find that Jesus takes delight in judging or punishing. Scores of scripture use thel (desire) in relation to our Lord. All without exception show. His desire is always to bless. Matt. 12:7, He desires mercy. Matt. 15:32, He desired that none of the 5,000 be sent away hungry. Matt. 18:14, He desires that no one be lost, etc. He blesses because He gets to! He’ll judge only because He has to! Why not begin today a personal pursuit of this great desire Jesus has for you! Why not being praying, “O Jesus! My heart longs for what you long to give me! I want to be empowered by Your Holy Spirit! I want to be free from myself and filled with You! I long for Your heart for the lost! I’m tired of going at this Christian life in my own strength! O Lord, bless me and my church family with that fresh wind and fresh fire of your Spirit!” ‘Til we finish the race, Pastor Mike Holm Service Sundays at 10:15 www.cctampa.org
