Origins of Father’s Day & The Fairmont Mining Disaster The campaign to celebrate the nation’s fathers did not meet with the same enthusiasm--perhaps because, as one florist explained, “fathers haven’t the same sentimental appeal that mothers have.” On July 5, 1908, a West Virginia church sponsored the nation’s first event explicitly in honor of fathers, a Sunday sermon in memory of the 362 men who had died in the previous December’s explosions at the Fairmont Coal Company mines in Monongah, but it was a one-time commemoration and not an annual holiday. The next year, a Spokane, Washington woman named Sonora Smart Dodd, one of six children raised by a widower, tried to establish an official equivalent to Mother’s Day for male parents.

The History of Flag Day The Fourth of July was traditionally celebrated as America’s birthday, but the idea of an annual day specifically celebrating the Flag is believed to have first originated in 1885. BJ Cigrand, a schoolteacher, arranged for the pupils in the Fredonia, Wisconsin Public School, District 6, to observe June 14 (the 108th anniversary of the official adoption of The Stars and Stripes) as “Flag Birthday.” In numerous magazines and newspaper articles and public addresses over the following years, Cigrand continued to enthusiastically advocate the observance of June 14 as “Flag Birthday” or “Flag Day.” Following the suggestion of Colonel J. Biblical Dating

Submitted by the CEO of Hope Children’s Home

In my 26 years of ministry of working with young people, I would say that dating is definitely at the top of the list of things that gets teens into trouble. In my experience, a majority of the problem is that most parents have no clear direction on the topic of dating and relationships for their teenagers. With a lack of direction combined with so many opinions that have been adopted from a worldly standpoint, our young people are nearly doomed for failure. May I say to parents that this is a critical topic, one that you cannot avoid dealing with. It needs to start much younger than what most would think. Biblical dating is not the most popular topic, and for many, it will be classified as “old fashioned” and “outdated.” I firmly believe that we have an obligation to God to do the best we can to train every child that He has placed into our care at Hope. With that in mind, I take the time every year to have a dating seminar with our 7th-12th graders. For most all of them, it is the first time in their lives that they have looked at boy/girl relationships from a biblical perspective. Let me share with you a few of the principles we teach our children. 1 God placed Adam in the garden. Because of Adam’s walk in life, the garden was the most important thing to him. His heart’s desire was taking care of the garden. Because of our teens’ walk of life, the most important thing for them should be studying, serving the Lord, sports, church activities, etc. 2 God created the exact, perfect, ideal woman for Adam. Adam did not have to go looking for Eve. Adam was faithfully serving the Lord when God brought Eve to Adam. Our teens

do not have to go looking for someone. They should faithfully serve the Lord, and in God’s timing, He will be faithful to bring the exact, perfect, ideal mate for them. 3 Then the big question. What is the purpose for dating anyway? Is it just to have fun and spend time with someone you enjoy? Or could we be honest and say that dating doesn’t normally stay at a friendship level but grows deeper. I believe the purpose for dating is to find a life mate. When two people date, regardless of age, it always leads to a more intimate relationship. 4 Unless your 16 year old son or daughter is ready for marriage, it may be worth rethinking this whole “going out” and “going steady” thing. There is certainly nothing wrong with a bunch of young people spending time together and enjoying each other’s fellowship. As a matter of fact, it’s healthy. The youth department of your church is a great avenue for just that. The problem comes when young people want to start singling off, trading rings, and establishing some type of ownership of each other. Remember, parents, that God has trusted you with that teenager, and if anyone “owns” them, it is you and you alone. This ownership does not change until the day you walk them down the aisle in marriage. I would encourage every parent to begin at a very early age to train your children in the biblical perspective of dating and proper relationships with those of the opposite sex. There are so many broken lives of young people that could have been saved had parents took a stand and applied some of these simple Bible truths. God’s way still works!

Women-n-Charge Grants On May 6, 2016, Women-n-Charge, whose mission, in part, is to support and assist professional women in managing their businesses more effectively, awarded two grants. Each spring the organization gives two $1,000 grants to deserving women in business. The 2016 WNC Grant Judges, Paula O’Neil (Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller), Patricia Carroll (Attorney), and Cathy Mathes (President of Lutz/Land O’ Lakes Women’s Club), said how difficult it was to choose just two winners with so many deserving businesswomen submitting applications. They were impressed with what each woman had accomplished. Congratulations to our two winners! The first grant was awarded to Celeste Kellar (accepted by Kelly Motherhead on her behalf ) who is the Principal of Pepin Academies Pasco, a public charter school

serving students in grades 3-12 with learning disabilities or impairments. The school plans to find a permanent location in Pasco County and create a state-of-the-art therapeutic learning environment that will meet the education, social, and emotional needs of their students. Learn more at pasco.pepinacademies.com. The second grant was awarded to Jan Roberts, co-owner of Roberts Ceiling Cleaning. Her new company (started in late 2015) provides ceiling and wall cleaning services to commercial office buildings, event locations, and restaurants. Learn more at robertsceilingcleaning.com. The Blessing of Heaven Unleashed on the Church Today

Dr. Douglas Wingate, Ph.D. Life Christian University The Bible tells us in Paul’s letter to the Galatians this key truth concerning our blessing. Gal.3:13-14 says, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” The Mirror Bible expresses this passage in a way that is more understandable to us, and brings out the depth of truth that we should see and receive from this passage. It says, “Christ redeemed us from the curse as a consequence of our failure to keep the law. In his cross, he concentrated the total curse of the human race upon himself. In his abandoning himself to death, he absorbed and dissolved the horror of the curse in his own person. Scripture declares that anyone hanging on a tree embodies the curse. This act of Christ released the blessing of Abraham upon the Gentiles! Now we are free to receive the blessing of the Spirit.” The question that should race to the front of all of our thoughts is, “How did Christ absorb the curse that was leveled against me for not keeping the laws of God?” The answer is that Jesus Christ is the only one that ever kept the law of God in its completeness, and therefore the only one with the authority to absorb the curse for not keeping the law for all of mankind. You see, God did not choose a people through whom to give His holy law, He chose one man,

Abraham, and through him raised up a family and then a nation through whom He brought the Messiah, or the Christ. He gave the law to the people in order to show how holy He was. God released to His family both the oracles and the ordinances of the law. The oracles are the unchangeable laws of the universe that He created for mankind to live in. The oracles would include the Ten Commandments and every other original pattern that He established in creation, such as the family unit of one man and one woman to procreate children. These are the laws of nature and nature’s God, as America’s founding fathers recognized. The ordinances would include all of the laws specific to the nation of Israel including the dietary laws, the festival laws, and the laws of sacrifice. Jesus never violated any of these laws, only how the religious leaders had misinterpreted them. Jesus also revealed that His deliverance from sin and all of the requirements of the law was for every person on the earth, not just the Jews that he had established His covenants with. The covenant that trumps all covenants is the Christ covenant. He spoke of it in Gen. 3:15 while speaking to Satan in the presence of Adam and Eve. He said, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel.” This is a reference to the crushing defeat that Christ delivered to the devil when He overthrew him and all of his forces of darkness and raised Himself from the dead. Now we can understand Eph. 2:14-15 completely. “For he Himself is our peace, who has made both one, (Jews and Gentiles, or those without the Old Covenant), and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished, (rendered null and void as though it had never existed), in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new

Hurricane season begins June 1 and the American Red Cross has steps people should take now to get ready for hurricane season, which runs until November 30. The 2016 Atlantic hurricane season forecast released from Colorado State University calls for the number of named storms and hurricanes to be near historical averages. A total of 12 named storms including five hurricanes and two major hurricanes are expected this season according to the forecast prepared by CSU, which is headed by Dr. Phil Klotzbach in consultation with longtime hurricane expert Dr. William Gray. Hurricanes cause problems for people in coastal areas. But these storms can also cause damage hundreds of miles inland. “These are dangerous storms that can affect people living here in Central Florida,” said Linda Jorge Carbone, Chief Executive Officer for the Central Florida Region and Executive Director for the Tampa Bay Chapter. “The Red Cross urges everyone to prepare now before a storm threatens.” Get Ready Now It’s the best way to be prepared for these dangerous storms. People should: • Build an emergency kit with a gallon of water per person per day, non-perishable food, a flashlight, battery-powered radio, first aid kit, medications, supplies for an infant if applicable, a multi-purpose tool, personal hygiene items, copies of important papers, cell phone chargers, extra cash, blankets, maps of the area, and emergency

contact information. Many of these items are available through the Red Cross Store at redcrossstore.org. • Talk with household members and create an evacuation plan. Practicing the plan minimizes confusion and fear during the event. • Be informed. Learn about the community’s hurricane response plan. Plan routes to local shelters, register family members with special medical needs as required, and make plans for pets. • People should also download the free Red Cross Emergency App to select up to 35 different severe weather and emergency alerts on their mobile device. The content includes expert guidance on what to do before, during, and after different emergencies or disasters from home fires to hurricanes. All Red Cross apps can be found in smartphone app stores by searching for American Red Cross or by going to redcross.org/apps. If someone already has a disaster kit, now is the time make sure the food and water is still okay to consume and that copies of important documents are up to date. If they already have an emergency plan for their household, they should talk about it again with family members so everyone knows what to do if an emergency occurs. Help For Businesses, Schools, Organizations. The Red Cross Ready Rating™ program helps businesses, schools, and other organizations prepare for emergencies that can disrupt daily operations. Ready Rating™ offers specific steps that organizations can take to be better prepared. It includes a planning tool to help their employees or members know what their roles are in the early hours of an emergency, what their next steps are, and a resource center with tools that help businesses, employees, and students develop and practice preparedness plans. More information about this valuable program can be found at readyrating.org.

Show ministry opportunities occurring when Holy Spirit is free to work. 6. The result will be financial security and freedom to support the kingdom. Biblical Wisdom: Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in Heaven and earth is Yours. Yours, O LORD is the kingdom: You are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; You are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. (1 Chronicles 29:11-12) Processes and Understanding: I. His Work: The Great Commission All authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

II. His Way: By Faith Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) III. His Results: Eternal Well done good and faithful servant: you have been faithful with a few things, now I will put you in charge of many things. Come and enter the joy of your master. Garden Connect Dear gardening folks, since our last article which was way back in November 2015, it is June 2016, so let me give you a brief explanation. I (Steve) was hospitalized twice at the VA hospital for extreme swelling which contributed to a condition called AFIB (Atrial Fibrillation) and Tachycardia (abnormal rapid heart rate). Since I was unable to eliminate liquid properly, they hospitalized me. Prayers began to go up and healing began to come down. I lost 22 pounds of liquid weight. My heart rate is now normal (in rhythm) after they did three electrical cardioversions. Thank God that Jesus provided for my healing. I was able to come home! Now the hard part: changing my diet. God bless my wife who always thinks of me, and I who was the hard head. Yes, people can change. Thank you to all who sent us suggestions for anti-inflammatory foods. We have been enjoying onions and beets all through winter and spring. The peach trees are full of baby peaches, but they need rain to make them nice and big. It’s a daily chore to water a section at a time on our property because of low water pressure. Since Jeanne and I have revived the Garden Connect meetings, we are excited to have our guests come and enjoy again, learning from the generous and knowledgeable speakers

who share with us on a volunteer basis. You know there is no charge for anyone or paying anyone, but we do pass the hat to help defer the gas expense. Please feel free to share with us your recipes and gardening experiences. Life is too short, so practice the Golden Rule. We were highly encouraged over at the VA hospital when we viewed many examples of the Golden Rule. It’s from the Good Book “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” (Matt. 7:12). Up northeast, I hear that they are experiencing rain. A little thundercloud reminded us this week that soon we will be blessed with rain. Water is so necessary to life in nature and for people. We will put out more garbage cans to catch the rain for storage— the three we have now we have been using to scoop out with empty plastic containers to water the pots that dry out quickly. They are down real low now. Jeanne cut two drainage downspouts and put the cans under them, and we put those mosquito deterrent donuts in them and they last a long time. One lady drapes a piece of material over the can and ties it so rainwater can go in and not mosquitoes to lay their eggs. I hope that this information helps to answer some of your questions. Happy gardening!

Residents Can Help Prevent Sewer Overflows During Rain Events

Your Home Doesn’t Come With A Lifeguard

By Shannon N. Herbon

Tampa Bay area residents are well aware that, along with sunshine and sunscreen, most summer afternoons feature a brief but heavy rainstorm. Florida’s rainy season runs from June through October and accounts for 70 percent of Florida’s annual rainfall. When the Bay area experiences record rainfall, storm water management systems can become overburdened. Extreme rain events can stress wastewater sewer systems resulting in sanitary sewer overflows due to the sheer volume of excess water. Storm water can penetrate the wastewater sewer system through leaky manhole covers, cracked or broken sewer pipes, and unauthorized connections between sewer pipes and storm water pipes. When a sewer system is over capacity, it can overflow into the environment. An average household of four can produce as much as 400 gallons or more of wastewater per day. Residents can help avoid an overflow by following these tips around their home to put less water in the sewer system, especially during heavy rains. • Do not water the lawn if it is raining. • Check underground wastewater pipes of homes built before 1985. Many homes built prior to 1985 were built with clay pipes or

Orangeburg pipes, which are made only of paper and tar. Also, check your cleanouts to make sure the caps are on securely. • Postpone doing loads of laundry and dishes during periods of heavy rainfall, if possible. Remember that all dish and laundry wastewater gets sent to wastewater treatment plants that may already be dealing with excess water. • Add mulch to reduce evaporation. Mulching reduces water needed in a garden by as much as 50 percent. It also has the added benefit of preventing weed growth, deterring pests, stabilizing soil temperature and providing nutrients to the soil as it decomposes. • Harvest rain to water flower beds, herb gardens, and potted plants. Rain is free and beneficial for plants because it does not contain hard minerals. • Choose native plants that are adapted to the area because they need less water. • Check hose and sprinkler connections for leaks—a drop wasted each second can add up to a couple of gallons each day. • On slopes, plant native species that will retain water and help reduce runoff. • Irrigate your lawn with reclaimed water. To find out if reclaimed water is available in your neighborhood, contact your utility company. • Most importantly, never let your children or grandchildren play in floodwaters. It is simply unsanitary. Conserving water during a flood may sound counterintuitive, but it can make a huge difference when wastewater treatment facilities are at capacity. Water conservation protects an essential resource, and it can also protect our homes and our environment from sewer overflows. For more information on storm water safety, visit dep.state.fl.us.

Staying safe around water is more than staying near the lifeguard at the pool. Every year, many children drown in residential swimming pools, bath tubs, buckets of water, and other containers of water. Here in Florida, there is a pool in nearly every back yard. However, the beach and swimming pools are not the only dangers. Anywhere there is water there is risk for drowning. Do not leave a young child unattended near any source of water, not even for a moment. Remove the risk and prevent access • Use physical barriers to prevent children from accessing any source of water. • Use safety locks on toilets and keep bathroom doors closed and toilet-bowl covers down if there are small children in the home. • Empty cleaning buckets immediately after use. • Empty kiddie pools immediately after use. • Install barriers around your home pool. Pool alarms and covers provide additional layers of protection. • Know the water hazards in your community and make sure children stay away. These hazards could include: drainage ditches, garden ponds, creeks and streams, wells and cisterns, and canals. • When visiting another home, check the site for potential water hazards and always supervise children. Practice water safety • Teach children to always ask permission to go near water. • Never leave a young child unattended in

a bathtub and do not trust a child’s life to another child or to aids that help a child sit upright in the tub. • Have young children or inexperienced swimmers wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket around water. • When swimming, set specific rules for each individual based on swimming ability. • Assign a person to watch over children when they are in, on, or around a body of water. Know how to respond to an emergency • If a child is missing, check the water first. Seconds count in preventing death or disability. • Know how and when to call 9-1-1 or the local emergency number. • Enroll in water safety, Red Cross first aid, and CPR courses to learn what to do. • Have appropriate equipment, such as reaching or throwing equipment, a cell phone, life jackets and a first aid kit. A Century of Water Safety For the past century, the American Red Cross has helped millions of people learn to swim and be water smart. To honor our 100 years of water safety, we launched the Centennial Campaign—a multi-year action to lower drowning rates by 50% in 50 local communities. The campaign is a multiyear action that will increase our impact by 50,000 and hopefully inspire many more people to sign up for swimming and water safety lessons at local facilities. The American Red Cross offers numerous swimming and water safety programs for children, parents, and swim coaches. Learn about the six-level Learn-to-Swim program, find out about preschool aquatics programs, or learn about Safety Training for Swim Coaches. To find classes for your family, contact your local aquatic facility and ask for American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim programs. Volunteer Opportunities

Ladies: Are you looking for something fulfilling to do for women and their families in our community? Why not look into becoming one of LifeChoices Women’s Care’s life coaches or one of their community outreach coordinators? LifeChoices Women’s Care, a part of Guiding Star Tampa, offers holistic care, enrichment, and empowerment for women and their families. Pregnant moms and new moms can be a part of an earn while you learn program called Women of Worth (WOW). They can earn maternity clothes, baby diapers and wipes, and baby items. Monthly mommy support group meetings

are also held at the center as well as a nursing mothers support group. Here is one of the testimonies of one of our life coaches: “For many years, I helped in different ministries working with children of all ages, but I wanted to try something new. When I found out about LifeChoices Women’s Care, I hurried for the opportunity to experience something new. The first emotion was fear. I truly feared being outside of my element of speaking and helping individuals with some of life’s decisions. With each passing moment, I thank God for the opportunity to help people, yet learned they help me so much more. I learned the value of friendship and to appreciate the smallest things in life. As a volunteer, I learned that most of the time our clients are really helping us.” - Vanessa R. The center is a part of Guiding Star Tampa located in the Chateau Professional Park at 18560 North Dale Mabry Hwy., Lutz. Call the center to explore this volunteer opportunity at (813) 948-7734.

This paper has been the BIGGEST factor God has used for my success as a Personal Trainer and Weight Loss Expert. Thanks to THIS paper, it’s contributed to me successfully training over 4,500 women. Even though I got calls from day one, the thing I’ve been lately amazed with is how many loyal readers this paper has. I get calls from people that have been reading my articles for years and since they are now ready to get in better shape and better health, they call me because I’ve been the trusted source they’ve seen for so many years in THIS paper. Even in tough times, I’ve never, nor will I ever, stop advertising in this paper. It’s been a tool that has built my business to be one of the most successful Personal Training Studios around. GFWC Sinister Sleepover

Woman’s Club cast members of “Sinister Sleepover”

The GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club members recently staged a very successful murder mystery theater production of a “Sinister Sleepover”. This hilarious “who-

dunit” robbery and murder mystery was ultimately solved by members of the audience, many of whom complemented the sleepover theme by wearing pajamas, robes, slippers, and even by bringing their teddy bears. The proceeds of this dinner theater fundraiser will help fund donations to the many local community organizations the Woman’s Club supports each year. Social Security Supports National Cancer Survivors Day By Daryl Rosenthal, Social Security Public Affairs Specialist in Tampa FL

In 2016, more than a million people will be diagnosed with cancer around the world. This alarming statistic affects people and families everywhere. On June 5, 2016, we observe National Cancer Survivors Day in the United States. In support of this day, Social Security encourages getting checkups to provide early detection, raise awareness through education, and recognize the survivors who have gone through this battle or are still living with the disease. Social Security stands strong in our support of the fight against cancer. We offer services to patients dealing with this disease through our disability program and our Compassionate Allowances program. Compassionate Allowances are cases with medical conditions so severe they obviously meet So-

cial Security’s disability standards, allowing us to process the cases quickly with minimal medical information. Many cancers are on our Compassionate Allowance list. There’s no special application or form you need to submit for Compassionate Allowances. Simply apply for disability benefits using the standard Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) application. Once we identify you as having a Compassionate Allowances condition, we’ll expedite your disability application. Social Security establishes new Compassionate Allowances conditions using information received at public outreach hearings, from the Social Security and Disability Determination Services communities, from medical and scientific experts, and from data based on our research. For more information about Compassionate Allowances, including the list of eligible conditions, visit www.socialsecurity.gov/compassionateallowances. If you think you qualify for disability benefits based on a Compassionate Allowances condition, please visit www.socialsecurity.gov to apply for benefits.

Here’s How to Win! Complete the trivia Bible verses found in this issue. Miners that were members of one of the rescue teams prepare to enter the slope entry to the Darr Mine, Van Meter, AP, following the mine gas explosion on Dec. 19, 1907. The crew entered and remained inside the mine for just two hours before being relieved by another team.

She went to local churches, the YMCA, shopkeepers and government officials to drum up support for her idea, and she was successful: Washington State celebrated the nation’s first statewide Father’s Day on July 19, 1910. Slowly, the holiday spread. In 1916, President Wilson honored the day by using telegraph signals to unfurl a flag in Spokane when he pressed a button in Washington, D.C. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge urged state governments to observe Father’s Day. However, many men continued to disdain the day. As one historian writes, they “scoffed at the holiday’s sentimental attempts to domesticate manliness with flowers and gift-giving, or they derided the proliferation of such holidays as a commercial gimmick to sell more products--often paid for by the father himself.” During the 1920s and 1930s, a movement arose to scrap Mother’s Day and Father’s Day altogether in favor of a single holiday, Parents’ Day. Every year on Mother’s Day, pro-Parents’ Day groups rallied in New York City’s Central Park-a public reminder, said Parents’ Day activist and radio performer Robert Spere, “that both parents should be loved and respected together.” Paradoxically, however, the Depression derailed this effort to combine and de-commercialize the holidays. Struggling retailers and advertisers redoubled their efforts to make Father’s Day a “second Christmas” for men, promoting goods such as neckties, hats, socks, pipes and tobacco, golf clubs and other sporting goods, and greeting cards. When World War II began, advertisers began to argue that celebrating Father’s Day was a way

At 10:20 a.m., December 6, 1907, explosions occurred at the No. 6 and No. 8 mines at Monongah, West Virginia. The explosions ripped through the mines at 10:28 a.m., causing the earth to shake as far as eight miles away, shattering buildings and pavement, hurling people and horses violently to the ground, and knocking streetcars off their rails. Three-hundred and sixty-two men and boys died. It remains the worst mine disaster in the history of the United States.

In 1972, in the middle of a hard-fought presidential re-election campaign, Richard Nixon signed a proclamation making Father’s Day a federal holiday at last. Today, economists estimate that Americans spend more than $1 billion each year on Father’s Day gifts.

Wake Up, America - Donald Trump, the Apocalypse!

Only a few months ago, New Jersey governor Chris Christie was still running for President, and by the end of his campaign, he blazed through 8.1 million dollars, which put him hundreds and thousands of dollars in debt which means Christy spent millions of dollars and still didn’t get out of Jersey. Call it the reverse Bruce Springsteen effect. So after dropping out, he endorsed Donald Trump, dropping a bombshell and sending a shockwave throughout the Republican Party and beyond. Giving the highest-profile endorsement that Trump has ever received. So why would Chris Christie do such a thing? People always forget when you sell your soul to the devil, you’re still getting something in return, and last Thursday we found out what that was. Donald Trump attended a fundraiser in Lawrenceville, New Jersey for Governor Chris Christie to help pay off his $200,000 debt from his failed Presidential run. He constructed a fundraiser for Chris Christie at $200 per person to help pay his debt. Even though it was supposed to be Christie’s event, it really was Trump’s event so he could talk about the things he wanted to talk about, and Donald had this to say: “You know, Chris paid off his entire debt tonight. That’s right, his entire debt!” Okay, so Donald helps wipe out his debt in one night, making Christie the real tragedy here, and all he has to do is to endorse a man that just a few months prior had this to say about Donald in an interview with Greta of Fox News: “I just don’t think he’s suited to

be the president of the United States. I don’t think he has the right temperament for that, and he has no experience.” And yet now he is? Let’s be honest, they could have given that money to charity. But we know there’s always going to be a certain level of backscratching in politics. But at this level, it is so obvious. Boom! Right in our face. He goes on and says, “When a company moves to Mexico, they think they are going to drop out like Carrier, like Ford, and like Nabisco. They think they are going to take our people’s jobs and fire all our people and move to Mexico to make their air conditioners and sell them right back across the border. No tax, no nothing. Well, guess what, folks? It isn’t going to work that way no more. Every unit they make and sell in the United States, you’re going to pay a 35% tax. Okay, 35%! We’re losing our shirts.” “Hum…” So, we are losing our shirts, and no one knows it better then Trump who’s wearing his brand of shirts manufactured in China. You do understand that when he says that they’re going to pay a 35% tax, he means you, the American consumers, for that’s who ends up paying for tariffs. Just yesterday, shoppers were pulling knives on each other just to save $10 on a bluray player. When everything becomes a third more expensive, basically you are just putting economic sanctions on America. You know, the same sanctions that America uses to cripple other countries. Like Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela, and if you remember not too long ago, we just lifted sanctions with Cuba. So basically that’s Trump’s recovery plan. A plan that can actually deepen the trade imbalance, sink the U.S. into a recession, and lead us into a trade war with China and Mexico. The Washington Post said that a “Donald Trump Trade War” could kill millions of U.S. jobs and again, Trump had this to say: “These dummies. Oh well, that’s a trade war. Trade war? We’re losing $500 billion in trade with

China, who in the hell cares if there’s a trade war? Trade war? It’s crazy. Who cares?” According to the Washington Post, 4 million American workers would lose their jobs. It don’t matter what kind of war you have with China—a military war, trade war, storage wars. It doesn’t matter. If they decide to keep your stuff over there, we would be overwhelmed in a week like a Black Friday shopping event. Everything is sold out and nothing left on the shelves.

Let’s move on to the Trump/Kelly interview on Fox News in August 2015. Until recently, Trump has been boycotting Kelly’s show despite being rated the second-highest show, and he had good reason to. As aired on August 6th with Donald. Kelly said to him, “You call women who you do not like fat pigs, slobs, and disgusting animals. Your Twitter account has several comments about women’s’ looks. You once told a contestant on your show, Celebrity Apprentice, that it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Does that sound like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?” In that interview, Donald just looked at her,

and that became the jumping off point for a feud that has been going on for months. The candidate’s conspiracy theory? Trump goes on the news networks NBC and CBS dredging up a conspiracy theory about a close friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton. He told the Washington Post that in 1993, the death of Clinton family confidant Vince Foster “was very fishy.” Jake Tapper of CNN said that saying it was fishy—implying Foster could have been murdered—clearly is something born out of a delusional thread too far from reality to say otherwise. It’s ridiculous and frankly shameful. Jake, you may want to pace yourself just a little. You’re implying that Trump just accused the Clintons of murder, but it’s only May. I mean by November, Trump will be claiming that Hillary Clinton was the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. You have to pace yourself. Okay, for those of you who are not familiar with the story, Vince Foster was a White House aide who killed himself in 1983. But conspiracies from the deep dark corners of the internet hint that he was actually killed by the Clintons for some reason. Despite five separate investigations that said it was definitely a suicide, including Ken Star’s, a report was done by a guy that was so determined to get Bill Clinton that he tracked down the Bill and Monica scandal, that’s how determined he was. So you can be sure that it was suicide, or Ken Star would have found out about it if something was a little fishy.

The History of Flag Day Continued from Page 1

of the Sons of the Revolution), the Pennsylvania Society of Colonial Dames of America on April 25, 1893 adopted a resolution requesting the mayor of Philadelphia and all others in authority and all private citizens to display the Flag on June 14th. Leach went on to recommend that thereafter the day be known as ‘Flag Day’, and on that day, school children be assembled for appropriate exercises, with each child being given a small Flag. In 1894, the governor of New York directed that on June 14 the Flag be displayed on all public buildings. With BJ Cigrand and Leroy Van Horn as the moving spirits, the Illinois organization, known as the American Flag Day Association, was organized for the purpose of promoting the holding of Flag Day exercises. On June 14th, 1894, under the auspices of this association, the first general public school children’s celebration of Flag Day in Chicago was held in Douglas, Garfield, Humboldt, Lincoln, and Washington Parks, with more than 300,000 children participating. Inspired by these three decades of state and local celebrations, Flag Day - the anniversary

of the Flag Resolution of 1777 - was officially established by the Proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson on May 30th, 1916. While Flag Day was celebrated in various communities for years after Wilson’s proclamation, it was not until August 3rd, 1949, that President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day. http://www.usflag.org/history/flagday.html How to Observe Flag Day The week of June 14 is designated as “National Flag Week.” During National Flag Week, the president will issue a proclamation urging U.S. citizens to fly the American flag for the duration of that week. The flag should also be displayed on all Government buildings. Some organizations hold parades and events in celebration of our national flag and everything it represents. It’s also a time to remember and honor military men and women who defend our flag and our country.

United We Stand Divided We Fall

Patrick Henry used the phrase in his last public speech, given in March 1799, in which he denounced The Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions. Clasping his hands and swaying unsteadily, Henry declaimed, “Let us trust God, and our better judgment to set us right hereafter. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us not split into factions which must destroy that union upon which our existence hangs.” At the end of his oration, Henry fell into the arms of bystanders and was carried almost lifeless into a nearby tavern. Two months afterward, he had died. The phrase also appears in the New Testament, albeit in slightly different language. Mark 3:25, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_we_ stand,_divided_we_fall Mark 3:23-29 Jesus spoke to the crowd in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s houee and

carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin.”
